31. #22 We don't need luck
babawawa ,   new york, usa   (03.09.11)
we have G-d on our side. There is no other answer to why the Jews have been able to defeat 100 million Arabs - G-d wants us to be there and there we'll stay - you will never beat us.
32. "No Palestine without..."
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (03.09.11)
No Palestine without Jordan Valley No Palestine without half of Jerusalem No Palestine without 1948 armistice borders. No Palestine without Right of Return No Palestine without removal of all Jews No Palestine yada yada yada No Palestine. Okey dokey.
33. You can't always get what you want
Mikey ,   SomeWhere OverHere   (03.09.11)
The Palestinian negotiating position is ridiculous and calls into question their sincere desire to have a sovereign state. Ideally, from an Jewish national perspective, I would like for Israel to include at least all of the land from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean (maybe some of the land east of the Jordan too), but I am cognizant of the fact that it's impossible. Ideally, the Palestinians want the same, but some of them argue for a truncated Palestinian Arab state in "only" the West Bank and Gaza. Israel is willing to give them a bit less than that, but they stubbornly refuse unless it includes all of the 1949 Armistice lines between Jordan and Israel, as if those were sacrosanct divine borders. The truth is Israel must give up much of the West Bank taken from Jordan in 1967 and the Palestinians must be prepared to accept a bit less than all of it. Neither side can get exactly what it wants. The UN Partition Plan proposed for a Jewish state fell far short of what were ideal or desirable borders for Israel, yet the Yishuv's leaders accepted it as better than nothing. The same goes for the Peel Plan. Beggars couldn't be choosers and it was more important to establish a Jewish state on at least part of the historic Jewish homeland if we couldn't get all of it. Why then, are Palestinian Arabs so eager to toss away an opportunity to achieve the same in part of what they claim is their homeland?
34. Peace through superior fire power...
Malone ,   Hfx   (03.09.11)
...the only way... collateral damage be damned.
35. #6 What they want the most: JERUSALEM
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (03.09.11)
36. "1967 borders"
(03.09.11)
The Green Line is not a permanent border, and serves only as a basis for future negotiations. The "1967 borders" are completely meaningless in negotiations. The Palestinian tradition of systematic rejectionism to anything even slightly inconvenient to them is one reason why their grandchildren will probably remain stateless. Unless of course they accept Israel in almost all of the settlements, accept that Jerusalem undivided is in and forever will be in Israel, and GIVE UP their baseless claim to a "right of return".
37. Palestinian State Crap
Brod ,   USA   (03.09.11)
The PA Islamist-Jihadist crap about 1967 shows that they are not sincere about peace. Israel should not waste time on them no matter what the dark forces of the world say. Judea and Samaria are Israel's liberated historic homeland-Land of Israel anyway. Why should Israel give away its Land to the dark forces on a silver plate just because the world of AntiSemites and Islamist-Jihadists want to usurp it? Israel should stop talking with them. Until they are ready for peace and want to live in peace with Israel by complying with what Israel's wants, there is no need to talk with them no matter what their gang members in the world say about it. If Obama continues to side with the dark forces, Israel should get Congress and Opposition Leader Sarah Palin to defend her by exposing Obama as an Islamist-Jihadist cowing person that is antithetical to Judeo-Christian and American values. This will bring the wrath of the American people on Obama. Already incompetent Obama is bankrupting America with him driving the bus to Hell. It is time Congress starts to impeach him for idiocy, incompetence, siding with the America's number one enemy-the Islamist-JIhadist world, destroying America's economy with 14 Trillion Dollars in National Debt, being dependent on Arab Islamist-JIhadist Oil Cartel that continues to rip off the American people with rising gas price, and endangering America's national security around the world.
38. This is about border control and not land control
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (03.09.11)
Unless I miss reading something, he is talking about Israel controlling total border with Jordan and not about land control. So Israel would control border area only and rest under PA control if I understand this correctly, there by giving Israel total control over any one or thing entering or leaving a PA state in W. Bank. This would allow Israel to stop refugees from enter W. Bank or dual use equipment or supplies, like manufacturing equipment, fertilizers or aluminum piping, much like Gaza blockade.
39. #20
galilean ,   Israel   (03.09.11)
Those are NOT Netanyahu's bodyguards. Those are female soldiers that Netanyahu visited yesterday, marking International Women's Day here in Israel. Bibi's bodyguards are not regular soldiers in IDF uniform.
40. #21
galilean ,   Israel   (03.09.11)
I personally don't connect to the 'god's favorite chosen people' thing. But I do know that Jews that came here to live in the early days before the state, were not closed minded towards their Muslim and Christian neighbors. Arabs were told by their leaders to run away because the greater Arab armies were going to destroy the Jewish settlement of Israel, etc..etc. Well, tough luck, they lost. And has I've heard many times from their religious leaders, this is something the Arab male ego can never accept, and so will never make peace with the fact of a Jewish state here.
41. What is a Palestinian?
Wise Saba ,   Eretz Yisrael   (03.09.11)

46. To #22
Rachel ,   US   (03.09.11)
Israel does not need luck, just the Almighty. The situation looked hopeless on 6/4/1967 too. But we know how that turned out don't we?

!sraeli   (03.09.11)
your photos marching with woman IDF soldiers... ;-) something like an analogy with Kadafy and his woman soldiers. It's going to be so funny! Note: "Eretz Nehederet" (wonderful country) is a satirical tv show.
50. The Almighty?
Shlomo Kamera   (03.09.11)
You mean that the USA saved your sagging buts with arms and weapons in 67. You call the USA "Almighty" Rachel???
51. Armistice lines of 1967
Seppo ,   Finland   (03.09.11)
were born after Jordan's furious attack to destroy Israel and they were stopped at that point. Their illegal war does not make any legal borders. After 1994 there has been no green line in Israel because instead of armistice line Jordan accepted Israel's border to be the river Jordan. Palis' talk only proves that they don't accept the peace agreement between Israel and Jordan and Abbas' family being Jordan citizens this attitude is not acceptable. They should turn to Amman to get confirmation that Jordanian and Israeli green line lost all its meaning. Palis are requesting to get Israeli land the size of which they quite arbitrarily have chosen.
52. Duh! No "Palestine" without a peace treaty either
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (03.09.11)
Since the Pals don't want to negotiate, it's a moot point, no?
53. #22 Palestine prevails.....yeah, in failure.
(03.09.11)
54. Shlomo 50
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (03.09.11)
You should listen to Rachel. Since you seem to think you know it all would you care to explain 1948?
55. We Are Wasting Our Time
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (03.09.11)
The local Arabs are simply not interested in coming to terms with the Jews in Eretz Yisroel. All discussions regarding a separate state within the borders of the Land of Israel are be both fruitless and inherently dangerous. We must immediately begin on a campaign to maintain only one state here, indivisible under G-d.
56. No such thing as "palestinians"!
jordan = palestine   (03.09.11)
57. Jordan IS Palestine
Lioness ,   Israel   (03.09.11)
Jordan OCCUPIES 78% of the Mandate land with a Palestinian mojority (78%) of its people. Jordan IS Palestine.
58. Peace=Security
AJ ,   Zürich, Switzerland   (03.09.11)
What Israel needs to live in security is peace. From the rulers that went to war with Israel, only Assad is still living, the rest of them died in the last millenium. So its time to move on, also for Israel. Peace means security, and security will help the whole region to develop. Everybody will be better of, and Israel will profit a lot from that, since it will have a head start. Don't listen to the warmongers out- and inside Israel. A peace of land means little compared to peace and prosperity.
59. Need to call Fayyad on his lies, he wants '48 borders
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (03.09.11)
We need to make clear to the world that the Palestinians are not asking for the '67 border because that is what we have now. They are asking for the '48 armistice line where they take what Jordan and Egypt did not get back in the peace treaties. But we need to show the world that they are looking to turn the clock back to '48 not to '67.
60. Hullo Is anyone there?
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (03.09.11)
Anyone know ehere the Peace Process is? Pathetic to see 2 leaders conducting pathetic point scoring rhetoric via the media We appoint and elect them to work for a solution which is not intractable - so get on with it!
