1. Return on Investment?
Jake in Jerusalem ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.09.11)
Follow the money. According to this article, Israel spent nearly $100,000,000 last year on promoting gay tourism... to Tel Aviv. That's about $2,000,000 / week. Do gay tourists in Tel Aviv spend more than $2,000,000 / week? Either there are whole planeloads of European gays quietly spending all their hard-earned cash in Tel Aviv or else someone in Israel is throwing away taxpayers' money like it's going out of style. And that isn't even beginning to account for other considerations on the wisdom and appropriateness (or lack thereof) of this campaign...
2. Now that's Pride
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (03.09.11)
Good for Israel and good for Israeli's Opening our doors, and encouraging the gay community to visit, sends a positive message about the warm people, that are Israeli's. Tel Aviv is one of the most gay positive cities anywhere and in particular, the middle east. You are welcome in Israel! Kol Hakavod!!
3. No. 1
NYC Girl   (03.09.11)
Actually, gays and lesbians are known to be rather extravagant spenders when they travel. And since Tel Aviv is considered to be the third most popular gay-friendly city, the decision to spend money in an effort to attract them is probably a wise one.
4. Inaccurate Amount Stated

Please check the figures against the official budget--this may constitute the entire Tourism Ministry budget for all tourism,,,
5. Yep, good ole TA. The sex sin capital of all Israel. Not a

6. #1 is right - each Gay tourist would have to spend $25,000!
Mike ,   Oxford UK   (03.10.11)
I'm all for Gay tourism... but #1 has a very valid point. To recoup $94 million dollars from 4000 tourists is a big ask! You can't seriously expect any tourist to spend $25,000 in Israel can you?!
7. To #5, Reuben
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (03.10.11)
Sex sin capital? What century do you live in? Do you consider the lives of all gay and lesbian individuals sinful? Do you have friends who are gay? Time to step into reality! The world is full of wonderful, ethical and moral people, who are gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered.
8. More in return than just money - not so simple!
Noa   (03.10.11)
Gays (and lesbians) are natural opponents of Islamists. If they enjoy their stay here in Israel, then this is food for thought for European liberals.
