1. He's sorry?
Talula ,   Israel   (03.09.11)
What kind of sorry.... like the 8.30 train has been cancelled, sorry? An apology isn't good enough, he should have thought about it before telling those animals to fire on our soldiers - he should be severely punished. Sorry doesn't cut it.
2. I also take back my comments
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (03.09.11)
It takes a special person to admit their mistakes. The rabbi's sentiments were understandable, although not entirely acceptable, in light of the passion of the moment. His commitment to work towards unity of Jews in Israel, now remains proven. G-d bless!
3. was result of 'a storm of emotions' !
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.09.11)
Rabbi Wolpo, Do you think that Sheikh Raed Salah is devoid of emotions?!
4. Apology
Mendel ,   Melbourne, FL   (03.09.11)
If Sheikh Raed Salah were to apologize about his ridiculous and libelous remarks we cud start talking
5. A "rabbi" should be able to control himself
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.09.11)
Such affirmation make SANE Israeli Jews losing the little bit esteem they had for rabbanim .
6. I don't retract my statements and never will
Proud settler ,   Shomron   (03.09.11)
Wolpo is a messianic Chabadnik moron who does not represent me or anyone I know for anything, in any matter, religious or political. A huge majority of the national religious public believes that he is toxic.
7. Re: #5
Haim ,   Rockledge   (03.09.11)
What a joke! Israeli Jews unfortunately never respected rabbanim
8. Pathetic
Steve ,   Israel   (03.09.11)
If you say something as stupid as was said The "esteemed " rabbi should as least have the courage to stick to his words rather than change his stupid remark because of public outcry , show some confiction don't be a wimp like Bibi
9. We can also judge Rabbis, by their....
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.09.11)
best elements. As we Jews would like to be judged, by world opinion. As each individual would like to be judged by relations. If all Jews would wiling to do that ,we might have the SANE and strong nation,we need NOW more than ever.
10. #1, #6
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.09.11)
Do you think it is reasonable that after a soldier's home is destroyed by the army, the army sends him to jail for being angry? If yes, do you want IDF soldiers to be emotionless automatons who follow orders unthinkingly?
11. #10 Israel you seem to have forgotten something
Haim ,   Tel aviv   (03.09.11)
In case you havent heard there is a law here in Israel. you cant just go building houses where ever you want based on a religious belief. So if this soldier is stupid enough to build a house on occupied land without the appropriate permission he only has himself to blaim. What do you think any citizen can erect a house where ever he feels like it claiming God gave us this land. Didnt know this God of yours is in the real estate bussiness. How strange the rest of us live according to the law and so should they.

Proud settler ,   Shomron   (03.09.11)
It is not reasonable at all that a soldier's home is destroyed in the land of Israel or that in this situation, the army, OUR army, expected him to return right away or not to be angry. This has nothing to do with Wolpe, who does not speak for us, who never was in the army, whose kids do not serve, and who holds heterodox views both religiously and politically. He is not a religious Zionist and does not speak for religious Zionism.
13.  #5 & others prove
(03.09.11)
that it's not secular "prominent scholars" but Orthodox Rabbis who are respected and honored by all that have to be mindful of their actions lest some G-dless Jews lose the little bit esteem they had for Rabbanim. G-d bless our Rabbis.
14. 11the rest of us live according the law???
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.09.11)
HAIM,may be in your dreams.
15. Rabbi
debbie ,   israel   (03.09.11)
Somone ought to remind this geezer that the IDF soldiers are what's keeping his sorry ass safe. They seem to forget this.
16. rabbi
debbie ,   israel   (03.09.11)
NO 10 ISRAEL ISRAELI You sound very naive. No they didn't send him to prison for "being angry". There is something called AWOL (look it up), and this is against the law. A country, especially a vulnerable one like Israel, can not have its soldiers stomping off home everytime they are upset with something. My kids did their 3 years, and did not love every minute of it, but they did it, as do most soldiers. I didnt read the whole article but I assume the trailer or caravan was erected with out permission, without the proper papers and documents, which every citizen must abide by. We also did, every step of the building had to be permitted, verified, examined and checked. Why are they any different?
17. #11 please explain
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.09.11)
First, you avoid my questions: Should the soldier have been sent to jail because he was angry because his home was destroyed? Yes or no? If they are not allowed to be angry, do you think that IDF soldiers should be mindless automatons who follow orders unthinkingly? As for your letter, I have heard rumors of this law, but never saw it. You must have visited Kafr Kassem, Iron Valley or Emek Sarah and seen thousands of illegal homes built on state land, none have been destroyed. But I am not the only one who doesn't know this law: Benny Gantz and Yoav Galant did not hear of it either. Why weren't they shot? And what is funny, Gantz and Galant built their illegal houses on land they stole while Weisman built on land with the owner's permission.
18. HAH!
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.09.11)
The negative reactions of the Israeli public were too clear and too strong. He had to retract! He said what he said and doesn't deny saying it, so it certainly wasn't the media or bias that caused the uproar - it was his anti-Israel statements.
19. Charles "Should" is the word.
Mordechai ,   Manchester, UK   (03.09.11)
But, like all of us, he is human and, unlike some of us, he has no problem about admitting his mistake.
20. so they can shoot us, but we can't shoot back?
Ephraim   (03.09.11)
Too bad, Rabbi Wolpe. I began respecting you last time.
21. #11 Haim. Judea and Samaria belong to Jews.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.09.11)
#11 haim. You seem to have forgotten Judea and Samaria belong to Jews and have for thousands of years. Not only morally, historically and by virtue of our liberating them in a defensive war in 1967. Legally also. Read "The Myth Of Israel's Illegal Settlements" by Professor David M. Phillips, Northeastern University School of Law. Several decades of attempted leftist brainwashing doesn't alter the truth. Which is why the parties which call Judea and Samaria "occupied", Labor and Meretz, are being voted out of existence.
22. 19 Mordechai , and others TRY # 2
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.09.11)
The rabbanim lose the LITTLE bit esteem SANE Israelis had for him , by acting as he , and this other about the food festival , did . He admitted his "mistake" ? fine , but he had to use his little brains before barking . And i prefer thousand times a great Jewish scholar , not many religious ones were awarded a Nobel prize [ only two of the 160 . As far i know ] They at least contributed to HUMANITY , rabbanim not .
23. Messianic rabbi Wolpe
Pinny ,   Bat Yam   (03.09.11)
Wolpe disobeyed the Lubavitcher Rebbe Z"L and published a book proclaiming the Lubavitcher Rebbe Z"L to be Moshiach. He prays to a dead messiah just like the Christians do awaiting his second coming. To call him a Lubavitcher is a misnomer and to call him a Jew is an equal misnomer
24. Nobel prize Arafat contributed plenty...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.09.11)
to humanity...hmmm. The essence of humanity is : "Love your neighbour as yourself" Who better than Rabbis master that?
25. I agree with the "old" Rabbi Wolpo.
sk ,   USA   (03.10.11)
26. Please do not destroy homes of jews in Yesha! We are all
olim hadashim ,   tel aviv/israel   (03.10.11)
brothers and sisters.An ole hadash.
27. 24 . i was talking about JEWS
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.10.11)
Nobody was healed with "love your neighboor as yourself" , millions of lifes wewre saved thanks to bloodtransfusion [ only one example ]
28. 27 Charles,SANE people need love.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.10.11)
Asylums are filled with people who are there, because of lack of love. Bringing happiness to people is the biggest healer. Remember from the Beatles: "All we need is love" May every day ,during many years bring you health, happiness and joy.
29. #25 No-one CAREs what you think - you don't live here
Proud ,   Israel   (03.10.11)
30. how long can the country ...
EU secular zionist ,   munich   (03.10.11)
afford feeding and giving shelter to such a religious maniac. By the way, he isn't a true religious man otherwise how he couldn't preach hatred.
