1. Errrrr....ever heard of Area B & C?
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (03.13.11)
Itamar is in Area C. Awarta (where the killers probably came from) is in Area B. The PA security forces aren't allowed to operate in either. Israel is responsible for security in those areas. So when Abbas asks for more control, perhaps you should listen to him. None of the recent terror attacks in the West Bank have taken place in Area A (they wouldn't since there are no settlers there) and, more importantly, in none of the cases were the attackers based in Area A.
2. Wait two weeks and your PM will be back to the peace process
Marcella   (03.13.11)
Of course it doesn't make any sense to give them a state. Of course it's not even legal to partition Israel to give them a state. But go and try to reason with the "right wing" Likud. If you could see what's of top importance inside their minds, you'd read the words Keeping the coalition intact. At any price. Dear Mr Elad, you Israelis have disempowered yourselves by allowing your leaders to downgrade Israel to the status of a vassal state. You don't have a true sovereign government, but a representative of foreign powers. Foreign powers give the orders. The government had to check with the White House first before authorizing new housing in the aftermath of the tragedy. An offensive gesture to pacify angry Jews. As if a few homes could somehow make up for those lives lost to terror. When will we start to see columns that go beyond analysis of how bad the Arabs/US/left/UN/EU are - and that propose actual solutions to save Israel from its current path of self destruction? Likud MKs are muzzled. Only people like you can speak out. Even if you had to use a blog of your own to say it. Censorship is so pervasive, from government down to the media, that pictures of the tragedy have been censored - so as not to damage the PA's reputation. The moderate PA. Israel's partners for peace.
3. Kate #1 err you ever think?
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (03.13.11)
Where do you think those terrorists plan and launch their attacks from? Sure ain't in Area B or C. Give the Arabs more control INCREASES the number of attacks.
4. #1 Kate Errr ever hear of area G....Gaza?
BJL ,   usa   (03.13.11)
Where there are no "settlers" but attacks are nearly a daily occurence? Your flawed logic would lead to daily killings of Israelis in Judea and Samaria, Missiles hitting Ben Gurion, TA and other previously "safe" areas. So how about you move to Ramallah and see how you like it?
5. Kate you don't know where they're from
Rachel ,   US   (03.13.11)
And if you do, please go arrest them.
6. To Mr. Elad
Cynic #2   (03.13.11)
Just piss off you and your settlers from the occupied territories and leave the Palestinians to run their own affairs without breathing down their necks. Who are you to decide the future of a people whom you brutally have been occupying for almost 44 years? You should look in the mirror and see your ugly face of occupation and humiliation of another people. Alas, your arrogance simply blinds you!
7. What happened to Jordan is Palestine - Article
Marcella   (03.13.11)
Some months ago there was a conference in Jerusalem around the theme "Jordan is Palestine". It was organized by MK Aryeh Eldad and counted with the participation of Dutch politician Geert Wilders. It could have been the start of a national movement to promote that idea. It's the best solution to both Jews and Arabs and it should be pursued further. Yoel Meltzer, who often writes columns for YNET, has published an interesting interview with Jordanian dissident Mudar Zahran, who fled Jordan and now resides in the UK. ("Interview with an Arab Dissident" - American Thinker website.) Zahran offers some very intriguing ideas about the present and future of Jordan and the PA Arabs. He agrees that Judea and Samaria legitimately belong to Israel. Personally I think that if the US had spent a fraction of the energy and money it spends trying to force a Palestinian state on Israeli land - and used it in strengthening Jordan and facilitating the absorption of PA Arabs instead, the problem would have been greatly reduced long ago. Social and political pressures within the PA and Jordan could have been channeled in a positive way. But as long as the US government is set on another Israeli partition, the result will be widespread disaster, for Israel and the entire region.
8. Ms. Moshe elad: what about 2002 peace plan instead?

9. There will never be peace if the ocupation continues

10. So...
Tim ,   Melbourne   (03.13.11)
So you're going to help them end incitement and eliminate terrorism, and help them along the road to a peaceful, stable democracy, by settling more of their land? It's precisely that Israeli approach that has world leaders rushing to upgrade ties with whatever emissary of the Palestinians they can find.
11. abbas wants pal state

he knows world sees tragedy for the jews and does not care--only jewish 'progressives' dont see
12. #6 Rachel, they know where they're from
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.13.11)
tracks led back to the Palestinian Village of Awarta It doesn't matter which area they came from, it's off to jail they go, hopefully to the gallows Rest assured, the arrests will take place shortly, aided by informers who will be eager to sell the brother for a handful of Shekels or Dollars

17. Israeli right wingers
Kazim Ali ,   Kut, Iraq   (03.14.11)
The treatment Kate got is a reflection of a state of mind that is in denial of the reality . The ultimate moral decline: You want to beat up Kate for merely stating the facts .Then most of turn. And say oh, the palestianians are not democratic History teaches people can over reach, and I think you are there to the point of ready for the upcoming defeat against. Iran .The Iranians are not going to ask you like Kate about A, B, or c , they want to defeat you .
18. For now, Hamas in Gaza render the state concept null
Cameron ,   USA   (03.14.11)
When those wankers finally topple, then the idea of a Palestinian state will be irresistible.
19. Palestinians in Denmark
Michael ,   Denmark   (03.14.11)
Just to make a clarification to the article. There is not 300.000 Palestinians in Denmark. I don't know if it's a typo because 30.000 would sound more correct (I don't know the exact number but there is just under 300.000 muslims in Denmark). And speaking about Denmark. The left wing social mayor Mikkel Warming and his anti-Israel party in Copenhagen has for a while been trying to force the Danish/British security company G4S to stop its contracts in the West Bank. G4S has among other things been delivering security systems to check points. Security for jews is apparantly too much to handle for Warming and his cohorts.
20. Real problem: "Palestinians" and "Palestine" are fictitious.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.14.11)
The problem is deeper than the author acknowledges. Elad's article suggests that "Palestinians" will some day be read yto form a hostile state in the heart of Israel. The real problem is that "Palestinians" and "Palestine" are completely fictitious. No such state ever existed. "Palestinians" are poseus, who come from various parts of the Arab world, with a contrived excuse to destroy Israel. For instance, late PLO leader Yassir Arafat was born in Egypt. Thus there will never be a negotiated solution. The only solution is to deal with "Palestinians' as the hostile poseurs and squatters they are.
21. #9 Michael. Every Israeli retreat brings terror and war.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.14.11)
#9. Jews are "occupying" Judea and Samaria in the same sense that Americans "occupy" California or that French "occupy" Paris. We "occupy" our own land, which has been ours for thousands of years. As far as Israeli retreat bringing peace is concerned, that is a joke. Every single Israeli retreat brings only mass terror and war.
22. not one inch

Eaglebeak ,   Left coast, USA   (03.14.11)
No, the Palestinians are the joke. The biggest welfare state in the world and they have nothning to show for it. It's turned out rather well for Arafat's widow though. They have been offered their own state several times and they always refuse. They wouldn't know what to do with a state if they had one. They only want to destroy the Jewish state. It's what they live for. You need to try harder.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.14.11)
The ersatz "Palestinians" had no fewer than three opportunities for a two-state solution, and have rejected all three, including one which would have awarded them 90% of the West Bank and East Jerusalem as a capital. They are responsible for agitating no fewer than six wars, all of which were won by Israel. In 1967, Israel acquired the non-sovereign territories of Judea and Samaria in the course of fighting a defensive war against Jordan. Israel's presence in the West Bank is therefore fully legal, as is its right to settle Judea and Samaria. The ersatz "Palestinians" have engaged in seven decades of unremitting terror, visited against Jews in Israel and Jews in the Diaspora. It is not the fault of Israel that the ersatz "Palestinians" have made nothing but incredibly bad choices and decisions. Just because they have been incredibly bad does not mean that the ersatz "Palestinians" are somehow not obligated to take responsibility for them and to live with the consequences of those incredibly poor choices. There will be no more bites at the apple for the ersatz "Palestinians." Judea and Samaria will be annexed by Israel and its Arab squatters -- and yes, they are squatters -- will be repatriated to Jordan, country of their citizenship. They can play "I wanna have a country" at Jordan's expense, not at the expense of Israel. We have had enough. Let them learn good governance (as if that were possible!) on someone else's dime. The best part? It's Israel's choice. Not Europe's, not the United States', and most definitely not the United Nations. The ersatz "Palestinians" have had a very long time to prove that they are interested in peaceful co-existence and mutual cooperation. They have had a very long time to repudiate all those vile charters which call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jews. To date, they have refused. They have had a very long time in which to acknowledge the essential identity of the State of Israel as a Jewish State. To date, they have refused. They have had a very long time in which to acknowledge the absolute right of the State of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland. To date, they have refused. There is a natural ersatz "Palestinian" state. It is called Jordan, and was illegally carved out of Mandatory Palestine and given to an Iraqi family to rule. There is no historical justification for a country called Jordan, and the majority of its population is, in fact, ersatz "Palestinian." The obvious solution is not to create a second ersatz "Palestinian" state; certainly not one that is fated a priori to be volatile and unstable, but rather to give them the one that already exists de facto. I reiterate: repatriate the Jordanian citizens residing in Judea and Samaria. Let them enjoy their birth pangs there. Are they ready for self-government? If the sad and destructive history of the Palestine Authority is any judge, the answer is "No, they are not." Truth be told, they probably never will be -- a more fractious and violently divisive group does not exist. The only thing the ersatz “Palestinian” so-called “leadership” has proven to be very adept at is theft and corruption – they have lined their pockets at the expense of the common people as adroitly as any Arab sheikh, emir, king or dictator, anywhere. But if the world really think it's a swell idea to give the ersatz “Palestinians” a country, fine -- give them Jordan. Judea and Samaria are Israel, and Israel will not be the world's guinea pig.

You want to refrain from making stupid threats. Has it escaped your notice that Israel can destroy you with not too much effort? Your bravado does not serve you in good stead. You are far better advised to keep your head down and your mouth shut. Israel does not take kindly to threats made against Israelis; even nonsensical threats such as the one you rather foolishly spout.
26. To: No. 16
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.14.11)
There are some thirty ersatz "Palestinian" organizations, each of which purport to be the sole true representative of the ersatz "Palestinian" people. They spend more time fighting and killing one another than they do on trying to cooperate and actually build a functioning government. The only thing these disparate organizations have in common is that they each have charters which call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jewish people. That's really not a good basis upon which to build a working government. Moreover, their so-called "leadership" has been the beneficiary of billions of dollars and billions of euros in cash aid. They have used the money to purchase multiple extremely lavish homes in Europe and to fund their already hefty offshore bank accounts. In the meantime, the infrastructure that Israel built for them following the Six-Day War has crumbled; unemployment is flirting with 30% and inflation is rampant. Clinics and hospitals have closed, as have four of the six universities which Israel built for them following the Six-Day War. Much despair among the common people in the territories administered by the PA, and it has everything to do with the corruption of their leadership, the inability of their leadership to create jobs, build a thriving economy and maintain necessary services, such as garbage removal, to name but one. On the bright side, Abbas has three homes in Europe, a seven (possibly eight) figure offshore bank account and a private Gulfstream jet. No, the ersatz "Palestinians" are not ready to govern themselves. Judging from what has transpired in Gaza and the PA, they probably never will be. So yes, being that the ersatz "Palestinians" present a real and present threat to the safety and security of Jews (do you need a better example than the massacre of a sleeping family? Just say the word; I can give you thousands of examples), Israel does have the right to say what they are and are not ready for. Whether you like it or not. You do not have to live next door to that unruly and violent rabble. We do.

but before 1967 there were constant suicide attacks and terrorism killing multitudes of jews. the arabs have killed many many jews prior to any occupation.
29. @9
(03.14.11)
was there peace before the occupation or were there constant killing of jews by these arabs from jordan's west bank prior to 1967. you bet there were killings of jews by these arabs...even prior to 1967 this is a known fact. so, why were there killings even before the so called occupation???? when palestinians were ruled both by egypt and jordan, yet they crossed the border into israel and killed many israelis over and over again, not to mention the wars the arabs started as well without any provocation since israel didn't occupy any arab land back before 1967. so, what is your answer ????
