31. Peace With the Palestinians?
Douglas Fireman ,   Chicago, Illinois   (03.14.11)
While Hamas and cohorts are still around, peace with the Palestinians is an impossibility. These groups are the very antithesis of peace. They have cheated, stolen from, engaged in indiscriminate killing of their own people, and prevented them from living a peaceful coexistence with their neighbors. How can Israel and a Palestinian state coexist with radical militant thugs whose main goal is to destroy? The international community should take care of their own problems rather than meddle in a region they know very little about. Whatever they and or the United Nations decide, with respect to a Palestinian State, is irrelevant. There can be no dual State solution unless there is a negotiated peace between Israel and Palestine. And to date, Hamas and cohorts have failed to take into consideration the needs of peace loving Palestinians. Rather than rocketing Israel, placing innocent lives in jeopardy, and scheming to kidnap Israelis, Hamas should learn to respect the lives of their own people, teach their children to become doctors, lawyers, and scientists rather than "martyrs." Yes, God is great! But Death is final. Intifada?-rage-indiscriminate killing of innocents, crimes against humanity including their own people- won't result in anything- nothing accomplished. There need to be leaders on both sides, prescient individuals whose decisions can lead to Life rather than Death- to Peace rather than a cold grave. Men and Women on both sides who are willing to change their bellicose ways; leaders who can build/create together the peaceful coexistence so important in the region. One does not need the International Community or the United Nations- one needs a negotiated peace among the Israelis and Palestinians that will protect each others welfare and best interests, and any folks whose goal is to break the peace should be dealt with severely.

Dir Yasin was horrid. But isn't it interesting that after all these years that is the ONLY occurrence that you (and the arabs) can mention? How many more massacres were commited by the arabs? And how many condemnations by the arabs? Other than the few very recent pithy ones by Abbas, none. And they still teach their children to kill Jews.
33. Abbas can go to Hell
Brod ,   USA   (03.14.11)
Abbas and his Islamist-Jihadist killers can go to Hell.
34. What utter nonsense!!!
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (03.14.11)
The Palestinians are not ready for a state because... - there are criminal elements in the Palestinian society? Because there are religious kooks among them who want to exterminate the other side? Because there are ardent nationalists among them who think the other side is subhuman? Well, you may as well have just described Israel! The P.A. condemned the attack and it arrests several suspects. That, to me, marks a seismic change from what it would have done several years ago. Of course, it's not good enough for the likes of you. You'd expect the P.A. to thwart such attacks in the first place... - just like Israel stop each and every settler from rampaging through Palestinian neighborhoods, right? Give me a break. The Palestinians can be accused of many deficiencies and I am just as quick to point them out as your ilk are, but this is rank hypocrisy and outright lies whose only purpose is supporting an agendum that is now being rejected by pretty much everyone in the world, namely, that the continued occupation of the West Bank is somehow necessary and justifiable. You people are going to ruin Israel.
35. Errrr....#3 and #6 read my post and #12!
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (03.14.11)
The killers were almost certainly from Awarta village. Some of Awarta village is in Area B, some is in Area C. Both Area B and Area C are under full Israeli military control. The PA security forces aren't allowed to operate in them. The problem with people like you is that you support and argue for an occupation, the very basics of which you don't even understand. (The people who carried out this attack weren't Fatah or Hamas but the brothers of two teenagers shot by the IDF almost exactly a year ago - not a justification for this disgusting crime, just a point of information).

john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (03.14.11)
You are a complete dickhead-it's the Arab refugees that are the occupiers of land that belongs to Israel. There is no "Palestine".-you may ,if Israel sees fit to grant you some land, then you can call it "Palestine".

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.14.11)
Why don't you just stick to arranging marriages? You clearly have no knowledge of geopolitical realities in the Middle East, and you know even less about the ersatz "Palestinians." Fortunately for Israel, its policies are made in Jerusalem -- not Washington D.C., not in London, Paris or Berlin and most definitely not in Manama. When you manage to pick the scales from your eyes and acquire some knowledge, feel free to opine on issues of which you routinely demonstrate your abject ignorance. So keep working on arranging those impressive dowries, keep trafficking in human flesh and leave the politics to those that actually have knowledge and understanding of the Middle East.
38. Moshe Elad, on what planet you live?!
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.14.11)
I can tell you don't know anything about everything. unfourtionatly , PA led by Abu Mazen in WB and hamas in Gaza is the best thing that ever happened to you, zionists.
39. Elad is a Lecturer in this stuff!!!!!!
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (03.14.11)
Just spotted Elad's reference to General Dayton. I mean for pity's sake, Dayton left six months ago!!! And Elad doesn't even know that? I suspect that that is how seriously you can take his analysis of the West Bank security situation!!! I feel sorry for any student who is paying to listen to his idiocy.
40. When Feiglin is PM, the terror will stop
Yehuda   (03.14.11)
Abbas-Hamas or whatever they call themselves will find themselves being systemically moved out of Eretz Israel. Free Yesha

42. ask for the source of a quotation
Sophie ,   Jerusalem   (03.14.11)
Could you tell me where is the source about Abbas' saying: "hand over more land to PA... but not now." This is a correspondent from Far East Asia.
43. Abbas wants a state but will never make peace
Zev ,   Israel   (03.14.11)
Abbas wants a state but will never make peace with a Jewish State of Israel. He wants a state without having to make peace. Abbas will never end the conflict until Israel no longer exists. The sooner the Jews realize this the better it will be for them.
44. #29 The answer is: things change
Michael   (03.14.11)
France and Germany were enemies and fought many wars. Now they are at peace. Egypt and Jordan were enemies and now they are not. Most Palestinians declare themselves in favor of peace and want to resume their normal lives. If Israel leaves the West Bank it will place the pressure on the other side. Israel will always be able to defeat them if there is violence
45. #44
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.14.11)
That is what Barak said when he betrayed the SLA and gave Lebanon to Hezbolla. Israel lost the Lebanon II war. That is what Ran Cohen of Meretz said when Israel brought Arafat to Israel. Gilad Shalit is being held five years already, and Israel failed to bring him home during the Cast Lead operation.
46. To: No. 44
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.14.11)
Has it occurred to your pea brain that maybe -- just MAYBE -- Israel doesn't find it worthwhile to risk the life of one Israeli soldier in a future conflict that will be inevitable, given the nature and true intent of the ersatz "Palestinians?" Well, okay -- now you know. Mind telling me when Egypt and Jordan were "enemies?"
47. To: No. 38
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.14.11)
You have unwittingly hit the nail on the head, Salma. There are thirty competing ersatz "Palestinian" organizations; the only thing they have in common is that the charters of each of them call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jewish people. None of them are suitable "negotiating" partners for Israel. You people cannot agree on the time of day, let alone actually present a united group with a reasonable agenda. We have the leader of Fatah pretending to deeply regret the massacre of an innocent sleeping family which was carried out by Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade -- the military branch of Fatah! If Abbas cannot control what happens within his own organization, "negotiating" with him is a foolish waste of time. The other ersatz "Palestinian" organizations have either maintained a stony silence or have applauded this vicious and inhuman act. Why don't you sort out all your differences before you expect Israel to "negotiate" anything with the ersatz "Palestinians?" We cannot believe or trust a word you say; clean up your own house and don't bother us until you do. (Of course, by that time, you will be comfortably ensconced in Jordan, and your quarrel will be with the corrupt monarchy there. Good riddance!)
48. @44
(03.14.11)
you forget. if this new palestinian state is not demilitarized by law of the proposed peace accords treaty, iran will be able to send them missiles, tanks, fighter jets... israel will have arsenal on their border with this state that can and will kill many many israelis thanks to iran. look at lebanon. look at hizbulla. then think again. israel to enter this new state and fight another war to stem the terror out? no!
49. #9 Michael, we are in agreement
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.14.11)
Arabs must leave, they're Occupying land that they never had any right to be on They'll never be content until they're back home in Arabia, Egypt, Sudan, or wherever else they came from
50. Hi Mrs. Planet, you sound terrible (39)
Ivenhoo   (03.14.11)
I believe ethat he meant that Dayton was the one who was in charge of the PA soldiers training. Isn't this correct? isn't he the one who is responsible for the poor level of PA soldiers? so, what this has to do with the fact that Dayton left to the US for a vacation? are you a relative of this guy?
51. #38. It's time to join the trend, Salma.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.14.11)
#38 Salma. I must disagree with your assertion that Hamas in Gaza and Abu Mazen leading the P.A. is the "best thing" for Israel. The best thing for both Israel and "Palestinian" poseurs for for Israel to pay them to leave. Arabs are already leaving Judea and Samaria by the tens of thousands without Israeli compensation. It's time to join the trend, Salma.
52. #46 I am the pea brain? Look at the mirror...
michael   (03.14.11)
Egypt and Jordan were anemies of Israel, you idiot...
53. peace
Sarah ,   Congo   (03.14.11)
63 years and this conflict is still going on without a break, how could you achieve peace if you agree to disagree, and if you can't find any mutual understanding, if you just wait for such an incident to say oh see : these people are not willing its not israel the bad boy its the pa.
54. palestinian sympathizers
yosef ,   memphis   (03.14.11)
I find it interesting how so many of the Balastinian sympathizers from many talkbacks have such good christian names....kate, michael, peter, john, paul. Either the catholic church or the anarchists are doing a good job, probably both I suspect. B"H for the Haredi. Am Chai Yisroel!

57. #52 Michael
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.14.11)
Jordan & Egypt have stopped Shooting temporarily, that still doesn't make them friends of Israel The New Regime in Egypt is loaded with a bunch of haters of Israel, who are clamoring to disregard the Peace Treaty and start the war afresh As of now, they've cut off the natural gas suuply that Israel counted on, who knows what's next ? Jordan is simply loaded with Palestinian's who are all fired up, ready to go, eager to have another go at Israel, King Abdullah will be fortunate if he survives another year All you have at present is a lull in the shooting; let’s hope it doesn't start again
58. # 38, Salma, special comment for you
Uri ,   Brussels, Belgium   (03.15.11)
Yet again, you make empty statements and support them with no actual arguments, let alone proof. Your trolling in these comments is relentless, and I will be three times as relentless in exposing your true face. Also, you seem to constantly ignore my comments. What's the matter? You're usually such an avid debater! Let us look at why Hamas and the PA are not good for Israel: Selling land to Israelis or Jews is punishable by death in the PA. Hamas' charter claims that "The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews [and kill them]; until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: Oh Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!”" How is any of these good for Israel? But wait, there's more! "I will never allow a single Israeli to live among us on Palestinian land" - Mahmoud Abbas, 29 of July 2010 Such a nice and moderate figure, is he not? Makes me want to hug him immediately! Please, I understand you find Israel a Dar al-Harb and what not, but we're not going to give into the Islamic political ideology here. We will continue to be a thorn in your side, an eyesore, and there is nothing your kind will be able to do about it. :)

Talking about arrogance ?No wonder you hiding behind a name, cynic...And that is who you are at best...As well as a looser, who wouldn't bother to educate himself about basic historical facts, before spewing hate and lies all over this smart board...Any objective and wagely informed person would respect Elad's article or add an intelligent factual dissagreement.... Yours is just revolting from the first word thru the last...

Dear Sarah; Who can "say" it better, then You ! I was just fuming at this sorry excuse for a a man, writing this "sofisticated"garbage...In one of the languages I speak, we call such human waist as Steiner - "Izgoy":the Jewish abomination... But you had said it all for me and those who are anticipating your input on this board...YASHER KOACH ! Keep It Up !
