1. another stupid article
alexi   (03.15.11)
ababs, hamas, fayaad are all the same moslems brainwashed and non changeable. San remo 1925-remeber fromhistory. Jordan is part of mandate. Revert to entire mandate land and start over. All arabs in judea and samara go to Jordan. No arabs can be permitted in judea and samara which should be an autonomous province of israel since most the livni/olmert.barak tel aviv elite sold them to the dogs. bechor's article is short sighted since only expulsion and separation can work.

4. Thank you, Mr. Bechor
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.15.11)
Brilliant and insightful editorial. And so, so true!
5. That's what I said recently!
Israeli 2   (03.15.11)
Not exactly, but what Guy writes is acceptable as a first step.
6. Seems a bit naive...
Nathan ,   LA, USA   (03.15.11)
When Israel finally retaliated in Gaza, did the world see the difference between the "good guys and bad guys"? Proposing that Hamas takeover of the West Bank and its subsequent attacks from therein will suddenly put the world on Israel's side when it comes to retaliation/terror prevention is clearly baseless. There is not a thing Israel can do to defend itself that will not cause outrage in the rest of the world.
7. what can israel do about that?!
handala ,   Jerusalem/Palestine   (03.15.11)
the writer doesn't know what he is talking about, israel cannot do anything to Abbas and Fayyad! Abbas tell israel you want to destroy the PA you are welcome destroy it and welcome 4.5 million palestinian to the state of israel (at least would stay israel till the first elections!!), you got to choose a one state or two state the ball is in israels field!! imagine it as playing chess we are aiming at the queen but if you destroy us we the king will be dead faster than you know it!!
8. Thanks, but no thanks.
Gabe Yakmore ,   Canada   (03.15.11)
All Israel would be within range of Hamas rockets. There are better ways to deal with Abbas and his cohorts.
9. You're dreaming, Handala
Howard Immanuelson ,   US   (03.15.11)
You've set up a nice straw man argument -- choose between 1 state and 2? Why? Do you really think those are the only possible outcomes to this conflict? Why do you think if Israel lets Hamas devour the PA that suddenly the only possibility is a "1 state solution"???
10. #2 Tom "Leave"
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.15.11)
Can you explain why you want to leave Canada ? I had thought that things were rather peaceful
11. Israel must make peace or face total loss of all land
christianpalestinian ,   las vegas   (03.15.11)
The choice is becoming more and more clear each day that goes by. Israel must either allow for the 2-state solution based on the 1967 borders -or- the 1 state solution which would be even more democratic for everyone. Doing neither will only lead to a major catastrophe for israel.

unfortunately for you, it will be the palestinian king who will be dead. do not play with us. we are smarter, stronger and we have the full support of the eu and the usa in wanting abbas to come to the table for negotiations. the usa and eu already said that THEY DO NOT RECOGNIZE A UNILATERALLY MADE UP PALESTINIAN STATE AND ONLY THROUGH NEGOTIATIONS CAN THIS STATE. COME ABOUT. this was told to abbas and fayad many many times. listen to the eu and usa message. you go unilaterally to the un that has no power to make this state and the eu and usa will veto your state. maybe the arab nations and south american states will recognize you, but the important powers and states where you want recognition the most will not recognize you at all until you NEGOTIATE WITH ISRAEL TOTLLY AND COME TO THE TABLE TO DO SO. otherwise, you will miss an opportunity that was opened to you in bar illan university by mr. netanyahou recognized the need to a negotiated palestinian state. you do not come to the table and it will be the mistake of your life, just like arafat gave up your future when he said no in taba in 2000, 2001, which was a crime against the palestinian people at that time. he prefered terrorism, not your viable state. so be it! and again, when olmert offered abbas everything he wanted in 2007-2008 and abbas refused to sign on the dotted line. why??? that was crime nuber gtwo against your people by your despicable inept leaders, both abbas and arafat. you are an immature society, not ready to control yourselves at all, full of factional squables, terrorism, infighting between gangs of terrorists and others for power. you are a lost arab people that are more full of hate and vengeance than the need to really build a state that is prosperous and lives in peace with anyone. your terrorism must stop. your incitement must stop. your imams and leader need to prepare you to make similar concession as israel has prepared its people who mostly want you to have your own state so that they can separate from you. but, your leaders somehow do not want to separate. they prefer to butcher israel time and time again and we seem not to be able to get rid of you people. why is that??? you had so many opportunities to have your own state but you always miss it. maybe it is because you want to miss it with the dream and hope that you can finally exhaust israel and debilitated it to such an extent that it will go away and you people can destroy it. i have news for you. the jews have lived for 5,000 years and EVERYONE TRIED TO DESTROY THEIR NATION BUT DIDN'T SUCEED. NOT THE ROMANS, NOT THE INQUISITION, NOT THE BRITISH EXPULSION, NOT THE ARAB WARS AND ANTISEMITISM, NOT THE MANDATE AND NOT FOR SURE, YOU PEOPLE. so, wise up and start crawling to the negotiation table. this is the only way you'll ever see a palestinian state become viable....and don't you ever think that after you get your state, which will be demilitarized (because no one, not even the usa and eu trusts your violent society) you can start bringing armaments from iran and lebanon and syria to attack israel with. if you start that, israel will come in, expell you and annex the west bank and i believe, it will be with the full aggreement of both the usa and the eu. which put the trust in you to be civilized and live in peace with your neighbors once palestine is established. no more games! so, get going and start negotiations or you'll miss this opportunity again. you want a state or do you not??? you decide! hameed aboughaze, iranian
13. Bibi is playing a losing game
BJL ,   usa   (03.15.11)
He is not fighting the delegitimization scheme of abbas. What the left doesnt understand is that if Israel also delegitimizes Judea and Samaria, they also delegitimize Tel Aviv and Haifa. Israel has rights per international law to all and it is an all or nothing deal.
14. We have to face the hard facts.
Aviva ,   J'lem, IL   (03.15.11)
Either we will live in the land and own it. It is ours now. And everything we take in battle is ours. And as a sovereign nation we stop asking permission to exist , apologizing to everyone, and making idiotic deals with people who know nothing about these arabs. Or we can pack up and leave now. Leave all of these lovely dreams for a braver generation to solidify. And take a last look at the beautiful . Israel. Because-remember the wasteland Israel was before we started planting trees, irrigating it, and building beautiful homes, farms and ranches? That is Israels' future face if we let these creeps have it. This is ours now. We have to own it. And be wise.
15. Wow, is this getting old...
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (03.15.11)
This drivel may be believed by nationalistic looney toons who would vituperate Abbas even if he joined the I.D.F., but most other people realize this is nonsense. Abbas and his government have done an amazing job in the Territories in a very short space of time. The place now has a semblance of the rule of law, backed up by institutions to carry it out, despite Israel's intermittent efforts to undermine the whole system. He has roundly condemned the attacks, including in Arabic, and his forces have rounded up suspects. I don't know what else you would like him to do. Perhaps you expect him to start singing praise to the occupation, extol the virtue of "our" settlements there and have his daughter marry a settler. What's ironic is that the P.A. territories have actually become more lawful and comparatively less racist/inciteful, while Israel has during the same period gone in the opposite direction: More stubborn, dogmatic and extreme. Wake up. Nobody's buying this junk anymore.
16. Fools Masquerading as Journalists
Alex Mannheim   (03.15.11)
Its not the Palestinians who play the double game, but the Israelis. It's easy for Israel to build illegal settlements on stolen Palestinian land when their illegality is endorsed by the American veto. So why does Netanyahu even bother to give lip service to the peace process. when he and all the world knows it's a total lie.
17. Wrong Israel need the pa if the pa dissolves Arab will be
Abdalla   (03.15.11)
Majority in ten years . So pa doesn t need Israel
18. Not Bad
MG ,   New Jersey, USA   (03.15.11)
Although not a perfect solution; I agree that this is not a bad first step. I do agree with #6 that the world will complain whenever Israel defends itself, but this idea does have merit. The idea being that Israel may defend itself against a "state" that is, the west bank, once attacked. Israel can respond with air, armor, rocket, artillery - the full range of military options available rather than the police options available to an "occuping" power as things currently stand in the west bank. We let them have it once in Gaza and we will do it again - regardless of what Goldstone says. We can also set the west bank back by decades of economic development via a firm military response. Time for the arabs to decide what kind of future they want for their children. Jobs, health care, a future or a smoking pile of rubble.
19. The truth is 100% on our side. Why not use it?
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.15.11)
Bechor's solution is better than the current disgrace, whereby Israel pretends to be engaged in "peace talks" with the P.A., while the P.A. demonizes Israel worldwide. However the real solution is the simplest. End the phony "peace talks" with the P.A. for good. Every single goal of the talks is disastrous for Israel. The talks are designed to steal Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria from us, trim our waist to a suicidal 8 miles, and inundate us with rockets and hostile Arabs. End the farce. Instead of this farce, Israel should publicize incontrovertible legal proof Judea and Samaria are ours. The truth is 100% on our side. Why don't we use it?

remember that israel has the haredim and the settlers. they multiply many times more than the arabs and have been doing so for a very long time. your birth rate has declined these past few years in the muslim communiies if the west bank. those of the religious jews trippled in the last two years. so, how will you ever be the majority???? bahrain has a majority shia population. yet, it is the sunis that rule!!!! and that will not change! the outcome that we will have a majority arab population in israel is a myth and it was proven to be so.

Martin ,   SA   (03.15.11)
Lives are lost and now we can put our opnions in the open. Its time the we clarify with US administration we are not playing their duplitious game. Some other omissions in this article is that the Arab League decide what will be not our Arabs neighbours nor the puppets Abbass or Fayyad DM E Barak who runs the militarisation of Yehuda and Shomron could you please take note. Yes you are successful in detaining many and may miss an occassional terror group, please show your Jewish essence by changing your attitude to your fellow Jews whose blood is spilt by you judicious concern over the Yesha Community and overlook their need for security They are in fact helping you with your job. They also create spiritual shock-fences of protection to our Holy Eretz ha - Koddesh.
22. To #15, Michael
Howard Immanuelson ,   US   (03.15.11)
Abbas hasn't roundly condemned the attacks in Arabic. He gave a mealy mouthed marginal "that's not good" quote. What we want him to do is quit inciting his public 24x7x365 with hate speech and inciting them to violence and start preaching that the only way the Pals are going to get a state is to act like they deserve one. And a real condemnation in Arabic to the PA press would be a good start. I'm "buying that junk" and cry BS to most if not all of your assertions.
23. to 20
Dan ,   Australia   (03.15.11)
If Israel officially claimed the West Bank all Arabs living there automatically become Israeli citizens. That is why Israel doesn't do it. On the Goland heights , when Israel officially claimed that land all the Syrians became Israeli citizens. Half of the Arabs living there rejected citizenship and kept their Syrian citizenship. The point is they had to officially refuse Israeli citizenship in order to keep their Syrian citizenship. This is why Israel refuses to make official claims on the land. The people come with the land under internattional law.

What are you babbling about? Israel will annex Judea and Samaria and repatriate its Arab residents to Jordan, country of their citizenship. Like you said -- the ball is in Israel's court. Do you really think we want a country that would absorb 2.5 million Jordanians? I don't think so. And you had better behave, or we'll find a way to send you packing, too. Destroy you? Why would we destroy you? You're doing a magnificent job of doing it to yourself! Checkmate, ya'habibti. Checkmate!
26. To: Dan at No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.15.11)
You are quite wrong, I'm afraid. Judea and Samaria are non-sovereign territories. The Arab residents of Judea and Samaria are all citizens of Jordan, courtesy of Jordan's 1954 Citizenship Law, which bestowed Jordanian citizenship on all residents of the West Bank and their progeny irrevocably. Israel will annex Judea and Samaria and repatriate its Arab residents to Jordan, country of their citizenship. Sorry to burst your little bubble. I'm sure you worked very hard to compose your post. What shame it is completely wrong. I also don't think that you should read up on international law and convention before you spout such complete and utter nonsense.
27. Abbas still useful to Israel as coin-op puppet
Eitan ,   Chicago   (03.15.11)
Abbas needs to make a stir at UNGA every now and then when he smells a coup. The PLO/PA can only (metaphorically) thank Israel for returning to Ramallah in the first place, since their way 'home' from Tunis was through Oslo. Allowing Hamas to overthrow Fatah and its US-trained gendarme would be a mistake for Israel's security. The world would not thank Israel for abandoning every dunam of Samaria and crawling into the sea to drown - the Xtians and Muslims would merely seize upon a new pretext for seeking the elimination of the surviving Jews. That is what "Jewish replacement theology" is all about. The comments posted by the dhimmi ashkenazi in Bahrain are cute, though. "Look out world Jewry!"
28. the last thing we need to do is dissolve the PA
zionist forever   (03.15.11)
If Israel puts an end to the PA it will mean Israel will need to impose martial law or an Israeli appointed civilian government in Judea & Samaria. That would be a military and financial nightmare nobody wants. If we officially annex the area we inherit millions of palestinians who eventually we will have no choice but to give citizenship to. At least this way even if we are making no progress there is the PA to do the dirty work and they are funded by the west not Israel. We need to have military control of the area for security but leave the dirty work of day-day politcs to Abbas & Fayyad. Fayyad's future is unknown right now but assuming Abbas sticks to his promise and does hold parliamentary and presidential elections which are already two years overdue. He will almost certainly not stand again ( he is in his late 70s ) but if he does I think he has lost the popularity on the streets he once had because he hasn't delivered the goods. What Israel does need to do between now - the PA elections is speak in private with more pro members of the US politcal system. Get the US to start pushing for reform and to make sure their new president doesn't act like a fiool and place pre conditions on talks and that if the PA want anything its got to be quid pro quo it must not be Israel gives, they take and give nothing in return. If the enough members of Congress ( not AIPAC ) start speaking out against the attitude the PA has been taking and Obama's lack of action maybe things will start changing. Right now nobody is interested in the fact Abbas is refusing to talk its all Bibi's fault and Obama doesn't dispute thaat. He just continues following the anti Israel path his muslim masters have told him to follow. Show the pictures of the Itmar massacre to Republican Congressmen, send a copy to Obama. Just anything to bring about a change in US policy towards Israel.

"Amazing job?" No infrastructure, thugs hurling rocks, 30% unemployment, rampant inflation, dearth of goods on the shelves, closed medical clinics and hospitals, abandoned universities. Is that your idea of "amazing?" I can only imagine what your wannabe brides look like!

Wrong. Israel will annex Judea and Samaria and repatriate its Arab residents to Jordan, country of their citizenship. Arabs will never be the majority in Eretz Israel, have no fear.
