EGGM ,   Petah Tikva, Israel   (03.15.11)
With all the trouble Japan is facing right now, I don't think it's very nice to report about an expected sushi shortage. I eat sushi, but don't 'fear sushi shortage' in light of what's happening in Japan right now. Instead, we should be focusing on sending the army's NBC squads to help with the radiation problem.
2. 1 - right
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (03.15.11)
japan was just devastated by an earthquake, tsunami, and now imminent nuclear meltdowns. thousands of people's lives were lost and those who survived the tsunami lost everything. and with the radiation problem across japan, everyone will be affected for years to come. in light of this tragedy the big question is: is this gonna affect how much i pay for sushi? embarrassing.
3. Unintentional pun made by EGGM there.

5. there are plenty....
Limor ,   Israel   (03.15.11)
of fish farms from China and Indonesia that export fish for Sushi...Problem is most of that fish (imported into Israel and the west ) is unfit for human consumption because of high levels of mercury not to mention any government oversight . This is why people should only eat sushi grade fish but have little or no idea what they are eating is very bad. Raw fish should be to the highest standards!! However don't think for a moment the Sushi you eat from the corner restaurant is good fish. BTW: The good sushi grade Sashimi from Japan most sushi restaurants here in Israel can not afford because it sells for upwards of $500 to 1,000 per kilo anyway. Of course most restaurants here will take advantage of this horrific problem in Japan and up the price of their Indonesian and Chinese fish farm low grade fish. In the mean time to the people of Japan my heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out to you.
6. What about supply of electricity to Japanese?
Yonatan Frimer ,   Safed, Israel   (03.15.11)
seems a bit callous to worry about having enough soy sauce when there are people who have lost their homes and property and now face nuclear meltdowns. It makes Israel look like a cold-hearted sushi monster.
7. So many Japaneese need shelter, food, water and Jews are
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.15.11)
worrying about sushi supplies? Just totally disgusting. Really disgusting.
8. Sushi
John Smith ,   UK   (03.15.11)
How low can you get. Thousands of people are dead and you are worried about CHAZERUT. If this is a real article you should be ashamed of yourselves!!
9. Bad for the Jews.
Avi ,   NYC, US   (03.15.11)
Growing up Jewish (and Orthodox)one is used to viewiend all world events through the prizm of "Is it good for the Jews?" Usually, when the Goyim suffer it is "good for the Jews". But not in the case of the disaster in Japan! This catastrophe is definitely BAD for the Jews. We are not going to get our sushi! And we can't even blame the Moslems for this tragedy.
10. please tell me this article is a pre-Purim spoof

11. LOL title & posting, YNET
Cameron ,   USA   (03.15.11)
You had my "inner-cynic" giggling over this one. Still, it was interesting to note what a big hit Sushi & Japanese cuisine are in Israel. Got my big bottle of Kikkoman tucked away, mon. No shortages here.
12. to Bunnie Meyer #7
Lior ,   Israel   (03.15.11)
Once again you are critical of Jews as in your subject sentence: "So many Japanese need shelter, food, water and Jews are....... (oh by the way, I corrected your spelling of Japanese.) You are totally disgusting. That BS of Jews worrying about Sushi supplies goes against your rants on how Liberal Jews only think of other non Jews not of themselves. Got YA!!!
13. #7 Bunny
solomon ,   bklyn   (03.15.11)
Read these talkbacks. As they show, most are agreeing that this article is in bad taste as are the feelings implied. But if you want to whitewash, then the obvious truth would not interest you.
14. what a stupid article
avraham ,   nyc   (03.15.11)
15. To think I came here for news on Japan?!
disapointed ,   tel aviv   (03.15.11)
Very poor taste indeed! I'm disappointed in ynet. I came to ynet today to try to hopefully find an Israeli rescue effort to donate to if possible. Not even a single thing about the Japan tragedy on the homepage except this ridiculous article!

17. japanese sushi
Ih ,   amsterdam Holland   (03.16.11)
I read this article trhough a link on fb. Someone there commeted that the earthquake must have had antisemite tendencies, to deprive Israel of its sushi ingredients. What a complete insensitive egocentrical article is this. O wait we are used to this kind of egocentrism from Israel it is all about the israeli's there, the rest of the world is totally uninmportant. Shame on you.
18. Typical Jews
Berk ,   Chicago   (03.16.11)
Typical Jews. All they care about is the price going up due to sushi shortage and not about the homeless and starving civilians.
19. Sushi Shortage - Israel's Greatest Fear

Brana Lobel ,   Israel   (03.16.11)
and YNET too. People in Japan are dead, injured, homeless, foodless, waterless, jobless, separated from their families, their cities in ruins, their factories destroyed, their nuclear reactors in danger of exploding...and you are writing about lack of sushi ingredients???!!! IQ smaller than shoe size, cruel and heartless and self involved, and that goes for the editorial staff of YNET as well. It staggers the imagination how clueless you all are. Your online paper should publish an apology and a retraction. Two comedians have been fired for their tasteless Tsunami jokes; someone at YNET should learn a lesson from this. You make me embarrased to be a Jew living in the same country as you.
21. Ynet- pull this repulsively inappropriate article: shameful
L ,   Israel   (03.16.11)
So far most every Israeli/Jew AND non-Jew posting talkbacks here are appalled at the callousness of this article. What idiotic choice of words: "FEAR"? "Will Israelis soon SUFFER..." from lack of sushi?!?!? Have you SEEN the complete devastation of the Japanese tsunami? Watch this and then tell me if a lack of SUSHI instills FEAR and SUFFERING. Imbecilic article! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzvZy1zY8U8&feature=relmfu Where was the Editor when this went out?
22. Disgusting
Cat ,   over the moon   (03.16.11)
One has no words reading this. What kind of people are you? Seriously...
23. Oi! How will I survive without my Sushi?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (03.16.11)
Some of YnetNews's articles are good, some are stupid but this one takes the cake! Thousands of people have died and this is what YnetNews publishes? It is time the editorial board of YnetNews took a good like at the crap they are publishing! By the way, this nonsense does not appear on the proper Ynet in Hebrew!
24. YNET
Michael ,   Haifa   (03.16.11)
Publishing this is even an insult to your own editorial intelligence
25. Embarrased
Adriane ,   Kfar Saba   (03.16.11)
I am so embarrased by this article. I love sushi and the thought of a shortage didn't cross my mind. The only thing I keep thinking about is the devasting tragedy of the earthquake and tsumuni. I keep seeing the anguish on peoples faces. Please... do me a favor, live without your sushi. Donate the money you would have spent on it to the Japanese people instead.
26. World-famous for self-absorption
chris ,   chesterfield   (03.16.11)
Please confirm that the article is intentionally ironic and that its purpose is to satirise Israel's preoccupation with itself.
27. At least...
Lilian ,   pn   (03.16.11)
At least there is some Israeli concern about the catastrophe that has struck Japan - even when the sole reason for the unexpected empathy is the fear of a thretatening sushi and soy sauce shortage in Israel. I'm fairly certain the Israeli worries have top priority in Japan right now. After all,. what could be more important?
28. i ate sushi once and got worms from it
(03.16.11)
so this is one jew who will never miss it
29. Typical.
slim ,   Ramallah, Palestine   (03.16.11)
Nonsense? I think you should take a good look at how people are now viewing Israel..caniving and self-centered. Can't say im surprised, Israel will always only care for itself, hence it can't get along with anyone but those who fund it. Seriously, thousands of people killed, homes destroyed, radiation leaks, and all Israel will do is cry about sushi. I'm disgusted.
30. sushi shortage
poppy ,   israel   (03.16.11)
How completely disgraceful, who would even think about sushi right now. This article makes Israeli's look like the stupid ,selfish and idiotic people that the world thinks they are!! Y-net I cannot believe that you even put this article up be ashamed of yourselves..Idiots!!
