1. Shame
Rebecca ,   Toronto Canada   (03.15.11)
This is Not the way Jews behave. Wither the you're ultra-Orthodox or secular, we are all Jews. How can anyone justify harming children (ages 12 to 14). Was this not the reason for the destruction of the second Temple? For the censors, the email address is my husbands' as I don't have my own account. I'm not that computer savvy.
2. Jews have the right to defend their communities from Russian
True Israel   (03.15.11)
holigans. send them back to Russia where they wil fit in their culture.
3. You are correct #1.................BUT....
Israeli 2   (03.15.11)
some of us haredims or religious nuts deem it necessary to impose their rules and laws on others. This was, is and will never be acceptable. The Russians (secular as they may be) have the right to smooch in public if they so wish. They should not be treathened or beaten up.
4. Haredim Attack
Gene Graczyk ,   Santa Rosa, CA USA   (03.15.11)
The very thin legal defense in this shameful attack is further diminished by the repetitive nature of these reports. Haredim bullies have attacked women for wearing red or clothes they consider inappropriate. Demands are made to isolate women in public. They must learn to live within the general community and bear their share of community responsibilities.
5. Morons
Mike ,   UK   (03.15.11)
A typical haredi tactic, force of number and herd characteristcs. No doubt their Rabbis will claim that these pious idiots are blameless. Send them to jail to give them a taste of real life.
6. DESPICABLE PEOPLE
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (03.15.11)
They are a disgrace for Israel. Oh what a shame to share the same creed with these monsters...
7. i agree with #2
david ,   uk   (03.16.11)
8. Wow what hatered in the talkbacks
bella ,   USA   (03.16.11)
I wonder how instrumental hatered of haredim was with regard to the objectivity in the arrest and indictment of these youths
9. Brass knuckles
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (03.16.11)
"one of the assaulters ordered one of the boys to take his brass knuckles. "He told my friend to say that they are his, or else he would kill him," A. said." The innocent youths were caught with a set of brass knuckles, which they claimed was a "gift" from their attackers. Does this make sense to you? If you were the attacker, would you give your victim your set of brass knuckles? Or would you throw it in a dumpster? Somebody is lying like a Palestinian.
10. Let's get the facts before condemning the Haredim
Julie ,   Israel   (03.16.11)
Maybe these Jews are just absolutely fed up with non- Jewish Russian Hooligans, some sporting their big yellow gold crosses, who have nothing but contempt for Jews and hate being here in Israel . They are not Jews. They came here as children with non-Jewish parents seeking a better financial life and have absolutley no feelings for this Jewish country. They sit in the Haredim areas and eat their ham and cheese sandwiches without a thought for the Jews that live here. I am not Haredi, and I am against behaviour as described in this article. However, the facts need to be known first. But I can tell you this, the Jews of this country have had it. Whatever the religious level, this country is Jewish....and all those living here must respect that fact. I am very familiar with the non-Jewish Russian culture in Haifa. The pickled pigs feet and other traife displayed along in their stores along with the bread openly sold during Pesach. The vodka drinkers, the men urinating in broad daylight on Herzl street, the louts with their filthy shoes on the seats on the Carmelite. No mezuzas on the doors. Some of us actually made Aliyah, as Jews, to be able to live with fellow Jews and live a more Jewish life in our country. Finding non-Jewish residents who are here only for financial reasons is heartbreaking. And these "thugs", many who have nothing but contempt for Jews, are their children.
11. Officials: brass knuckles on victim?
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (03.16.11)
Police officials say that in addition to the brass knuckles that were found on one of the victims. That is what you report. What were the innocent victims doing with brass knuckles? Is this report correct or was it found on the suspects??
12. The Haredim have a very strong case here.
Ernest   (03.16.11)
The minor boys that were allegedly assaulted were in possession of items that are considered deadly weapons. The actions of these minors are attributed to their upbringing. Ignorance of the law is not acceptable here because it doesn't take the place of common sense and what would be deemed Zion, it's defineable. You can call yourself Jewish but how are you representing Zion. The Haredim have a long standing commitment that they are trying their best to follow the high standaards of the Torah. These haredim don't appear to be the type that would bear false witness against their neighbor or be part of the 30% that believe "K" is innocent. These may be of those haredim that have managed to get things that are very important right today. That said because of how some things are going. Of course they are recognized, they make a strong showing for themselves. They are uniform and a unit of the land. It was even entrapment for them by what could only have been a provocation on the part of the minors. The minors went looking for trouble and they found it. nobody Hopefully nobody got cut or stabbed. With everything going on all around, time is still taken out to show these haredim are still defencible. This was only a small battle. Their views in regard to the law of the land would really be interesting. Who knows, you could even have no so religious agreeing with them.
13. Nobody knows
Ivan B. ,   San Jose, CA USA   (03.16.11)
From these initial reports, nobody knows what happened. We shouldn't rush to judgement until there is more investigation. Maybe the real story is completely different.
14. Haredim learned it from the secular racist
Eliezer   (03.16.11)

15. I do not agree with #2
Kelly ,   Huston, USA   (03.16.11)
16. #2
Robert ,   Brisbane Australia   (03.16.11)
I believe you are confused as to who the hooligans are!
17. First they came...
Carla ,   NYC   (03.16.11)
First they came for the communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jew, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me. Bigotry isn't good no matter the subject. When they are done with the Arabs, Palestinians etc., they are coming after YOU.
18. i agree with no. 10
JEW1 ,   ASH & IL   (03.16.11)
19. We do not know who the perpetrators
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (03.16.11)
of the crimes are yet so we should not pre-judge whether, in fact, you despise the Charedim or the children of Russian immigrants. Furthermore, it is a great mistake to generalize about a whole group of people, to demonize them, based on this one, or even, in fact, a few incidents. I see that some Talkbackers have already done that while others are offering the same message as I. In the long run, our enemies are amongst the Arabs and the leftist international communities. We need to accept, if not love, our Jewish brethern even if they do not fit our ideal picture of what it is to be Jewish. This is not an easy lesson and even at my age, seventy, I am learning.
