It doesn't matter what the Gentiles are saying, it matters what the Jews are doing. Job well done!
32. The press loves Israel
Gabriel ,   Jerusalem   (03.16.11)
What other country in the world you can report war and conflict living in a amazing western like lounge in a multicultural city ?? Only in Israel... These reporters are mad because the army took them from their SPAs to come report the truth that no one cares about on their sensationalist media. I believe that Israel doesn´t needs more PR assistance... There´s enough assistance and no TALENT.
33. ISRAELS PR is so bad
peter ,   switzerland   (03.16.11)
ISRAEL must work on its PR, leave the selfproude a side and show the world. if they are not capable of doing this , the world will continue getting a wrong impression. the main problem are the israelis which have too much self confidence and self proud.... continue like this and it will get worth !
34. PR Joke
israel 4ever ,   south africa   (03.16.11)
Israels PR has become a joke. How is it possible that in this day and age with islamophobia and islamic radicalism that Israel can look bad. I say start kicking out reporters who don't want to act like true reporters (non prejudice + impartial = true reporters). Israel needs to learn that if they want the world to know the truth, they need the media's help. Maybe I am wrong and the media/reporters are afraid that they may be kidnapped, raped or murdered because we all know that no one can say anything bad about islam/muslims because there will be consequences. Mess with Israel and you will have do deal with G-D.

cj, get a sense of proportion. Waiting for the President of the US is not quite the same as waiting on the side of Ashdod dock for the IDF spokesman to do his thing. As for 'journalists' hanging around nightclubs for celebs, well they aren't journalists, they are self employed paparazzi (celebrity photographers) who live and earn from the photos thay take, so no photo...no money. Thats why they hang around, financial self interest pure and simple. Come back to the conversation when you have a better idea of what you are talking about
36. world has more important things to do
muneca ,   uk   (03.16.11)
There's thousands of dead, tens of thousands of missing and hundreds of thousands without shelter in Japan, the world is at the edge of a nuclear disaster and you wanna impress the world with some missiles that are certainly for Iran cause the manuals are in Farsi and also Israeli government and IDF said so, and as we all know, they never lie, so it must be true. The murder of the Jewish family..Yes, it was terrible, the murderer should be killed the same way, but sorry to tell you, with so many people killed in Japan and in the light of 1400 casualties (those people also had their names) during the offense in Gaza, what do you expect people to say? No murder is acceptable, no matter what are the circumstances and it should be properly punished. But if you like it or not, if those people respected the law and didn't move to the illegal settlements, they would be still alive....what was their motive for doing so? Guard the Holy Land, so Palestinians don't get it? Those people moved there against international law, settlements are against the resolutions of UN, the same institution whose decision you respect only if it's advantageous. That family voluntarily exposed their kids to a great risk coming to the hostile environment, to the territory that is being occupied. Israeli government made basically the same thing as Hamas does...they send families to the war front-lines and use them as human shield to pursue the plan of spreading the territories while laughing into the world’s face by convincing everybody about their deepest interest in 2-state solution....What is the main incentive of a family with 3 kids to move to such a settlement? Because the only one i can think of is a message to Palestinians: F...off, this is our land, i don't care about your stupid state and your stupid requirements, and as you see, my government doesn't give a s..t either. When Palestinians provoke and Israel strikes, it's a collateral damage and statistics, if Israeli family is a victim, it's a massacre and victims have names. Because tell me, what other than stupid provocation and spit to the face is this ongoing construction of settlements? Whole world yelled, please stop the settlements....your message was: take care of your own business...now when the consequences came, you come whining that nobody cares....i mean seriously... How do you wanna world to believe you, if your prime minister talks about the 2 state solution and at the same time insults Merkel and Obama for not supporting new settlements on the Palestinian territory? What do you think we're all dumb? Every country has it's own problems and sorry to tell you, but the world is fed up with constant Israel whining, accusations, excuses and arrogance...even US. It is officially forbidden to criticize Israel for whatever, because it is a sign of antisemitism, nazism, terrorism, islamism, and all other -isms...and we're always told to take care of our own business...but once the criticism proves right, you come whining and complaining again....It's not the bad PR of Israel...it's not about the PR anymore....it's just that based on past experience nobody believes you...and Iran doesn't have to do anything. They can comfortably sit and laugh...you are your own enemies...you lose every bit of sympathy and thrustworthiness with those settlements. It's incredibly cynical and selfish to cry out loud now about PR and your unnoticed problems. Maybe the reporter is sorry that the tsunami didn't hit Israel....because like this you could blame Iran and Hamas for that, maybe you would find also some tsunami-manual in Farsi and finally get the attention and sympathy of the whole world and that would be hell of a PR...it's like when Netanyahu said about 9/11 that it was “very good....well not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy for Israel”....how cynical...the murder and the 'Iranian' ship didn't come in the right time, right? Those Japanese bastards stole your thunder....how sad...

"You are not in the news : )" Here's a news flash: neither are the ersatz "Palestinians," except to note that Fatah's terrorist branch, the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, massacred a sleeping family of five over the past weekend. I guess the ersatz "Palestinians" are feeling humiliated and disappointed that they aren't even a blip on the radar in any of the tumultuous goings-on throughout the Arab and Islamic world. Oh, boo-hoo. Here's another newsflash: Israel is perfectly content to produce our Nobel and Mathematics prizes quietly; to successfully interdict large shipments of arms intended for the use of ersatz "Palestinian" terrorist groups without fanfare; to achieve landmark discoveries in medicine and information technology for the sake of humanity, not news coverage. And here is the biggest newsflash of all: the ersatz "Palestinians" are yesterday's news. The world has moved on to things that are actually important. Very good for Israel. Not so good for the ersatz "Palestinians" -- which is even better for Israel.

40. #19; Sarah, I both agree and disagree
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (03.16.11)
I agree that Israel doesn't need world "approval", but I always ask myself this question in any situation. Could it it hurt you? The answer is of course not, it can only help, there is no downside. Secondly you don't have to spend any real money. For Instance, the IDF could have have made a video put it on "youtube", and given the link to the news who would put a "youtube" link in the article, and world would have seen the ship, how the weapons were hidden in the ship, and a close look at the weapons with the Farsi writing. Doesn't cost a dime, and it would have gotten a couple of million hits on the web. Taking well known Media people (so you don't have to have security checks) directly to the site would have been easy. I believe, in my heart, if people of good will really saw the truth, the Arabs would lose a massive amount of support. Naturally you not going to change the mind of people who are antisemitic, but who cares. Much of the Arab support comes from the false David vs Goliath myth the Arabs have created. You know the poor Pals against big bad Israel. Instead of the truth, Israel is David vs Goliath the Big Bad 21 Muslim countries that surround Israel. The Arabs picked up some support by falsely changing the dynamics of the conflict. From Israel being constantly attacked by 6 or 7 countries every decade. To Israel against a mythical people who were invented strictly for a political agenda. Plus as you know in politics you have to answer the negative ads, or you let your opponent define who you are, that's life. We may not like it, but there it is. I believe Israel has been letting their enemies define them for to long, and it's become a problem.

1. I beg to differ. I look at it from a legal standpoint. When you are in the right and have done nothing wrong, there is no need to prove anything. The downside to public relations efforts -- and it is a BIG downside -- is that it begs the question "If they've done nothing wrong, why do they feel compelled to prove that you’ve done nothing wrong?" 2. Mark, YNet's on line news forum is read in the usual expected places, and in some unexpected places as well. The films shot of the interdiction and of the weapons which were being illegally transported to an intended recipient in contravention of international law has been seen by the people who matter. I assure you that heads are rolling in Teheran, Damascus and even Ankara. Besides, Mark -- look at the idiot naysayers who are convinced that it's all a big hoax perpetrated by Israel. Nothing will change their minds. Fortunately, however, they are irrelevant, just as the people who claim that the Fogel family was massacred by a Thai worker are irrelevant. 3. People of alleged "good will" and "media people" are diametric opposites. Media people are interested in ratings. I see no compelling reason to accord them special treatment. They are professionals at applying spin, and they will apply whatever spin they think will attract more attention and increase ratings. Unfortunately, that translates to anything that can cast Israel in a poor light. Israel does not need to curry favor with journalists who routinely turn on Israel for the sake of splash. 4. The ersatz "Palestinians" have not made international headlines for quite a while. Why bring them to the forefront? Let the ersatz "Palestinians" fret over the fact that they aren't even the lowest item on the list of grievances being aired vox populi throughout the Arab and Moslem world. That is a major embarrassment for them. The massacre of the Fogel family by a branch of Fatah did not help them, either. Again -- you don't need the support of the average "man in the street," which Israel is unlikely to garner in any event. I assure you that in important government offices throughout the world, the antics of Iran, Syria, Turkey and their terrorist toadies have attracted a great deal of attention, all of it negative.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.16.11)
5. The fact that the ersatz "Palestinians" are a mythical people is likely too sophisticated a concept to grasp for the average person. The people who need to know it do know it -- they don't necessarily act in step with their knowledge, so why bother? 6. In politics, negative ads rarely have the desired effect, and responses to negative ads tend to turn into mud-slinging contests. "Did not! Did so! Did not! Did so!" may be suitable for ersatz "Palestinian" terrorist organizations, but it is far beneath the dignity of the sovereign State of Israel. Let's leave the childish antics to the ersatz "Palestinians," the Turks, the Syrians and the Iranians. Trust me -- any response from Israel over the media merely serves the purpose of our enemies. It is far better to ignore them the way one ignores a small child's tantrum. Besides, Israel responds in ways that drive our enemies crazy -- we blow up their budding reactors (Syria); we put an end to their nuclear aspirations and take out 80% of their computer systems (Iran) -- I note for the record that neither Bushehr nor Natanz are back on line, and the rods have not been replaced at Bushehr (thank you, Stuxnet!; we interdict their illegal attempts to ship contraband weapons systems to terrorist organizations (Iran and Syria); we stop their highly publicized attempts to run a fully legal and internationally recognized blockade (Turkey); and we sit and watch as the ersatz "Palestinians" grow ever more divisive and fractious. All in all, Mark, Israel is doing just fine where it matters -- facts on the ground. Our friends know this. So do our enemies. Who cares what anyone else thinks; we aren't going to change their minds anyway. No point in trying.
43. #13 - neither are you. when will you riot again?
William ,   Israel   (03.16.11)
Remember when the Haiti earthquake killed thousands and displaced millions? It took only two days before the "Palestinians" began complaining about news coverage of "their plight". Not that they gave the Haitians any of their ill-gotten global welfare or even offered sympathy.
44. Sanctimonious reporters
Sam M ,   UK   (03.16.11)
These miserable hacks are no fans of Israel as their behavior clearly shows. For a story on the israel/palestinian issue to be 'newsworthy' a palestinian portrayed as a victim of israeli aggression is usually essential to conform to the stereotypical image of pals and israelis so beloved of the worlds media. israel as a potential victim of weapons smuggling to (palestinian) terrorists is consequently of little interest to this rabble. Misrepresentations, lies and inventions are commonplace as long as reports meet this criteria. From stories of 'starvation' and 'food shortages' in gaza, a tale told straight to camera many times by clearly obese pals, to bizarre accusations of deliberate poisoning and organ harvesting by Israel and so the list goes on. Israel's image can only be significantly altered by a change of public preception towards the palestinians and neighbouring arab states. Until this happens it will be like trying to push water up a hill. At this moment the negative image of israel is too fixed in the public consciousness and even the worlds best PR machine won't change this fact. Give the palestinians enough rope though and they'll hang themselves. Be patient!
45. As a member of the Foreign Press in Israel...
D ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.16.11)
who wants to show Israel in a good light, the IDF repeatedly screw things up like this. Over and over and over again, actually. They screw things up more then they don't. They are completely unprofessional and amateur -- Its run by a bunch of kids who have no idea what they are doing. Every time we put in a request to show something Pro-Israeli, they f---- it up....And, the truth is, the Pal side makes it easy...They need to get it together. For many of us here...we really try to show the story in a positive light, but the IDF make it very difficult by their lack of professionalism...Not returning phone calls until way after deadline, if at all...Yes, making a crew wait until after their deadline kills the whole thing...

Foreign press!? Bah! Eurotrash Jew-hating boneheads. Israel is indeed an island and THAT'S OKAY!!! Europeans are the LAST people to look to for an example of how to act, govern, organize or ween a culture. They have the most barabric history in the world: why they can be so arrogant as to think anyone should give a damn what they say makes NO sense. No patience to see the truth? BAN these journalists. They'll only twist everything around to suit their propaganda machine anyhow. Chai Yisrael!!!! Time to stop apologizing or defending ourselves for nonsense and stand on our own. We have 3 or 4 good friends and that good enough. Trade with them, withdraw from the United Nutjobs and form our own tiny union of friends who don't judge us with untruths!

Excuse me, but the IDF is a military outfit, not a press agency. They are far too busy keeping Israel safe and secure to jump whenever the press corps shout "frog." Get over yourselves. If you know something to be true, why not remember that you are purportedly a journalist and -- GASP! -- publish it. Heaven knows you people are at the beck and call -- and for all I know, the pay -- of the ersatz "Palestinians." When you know that they are feeding you bullsh*t, decline to publish it. There is nothing in anyone's journalistic code of ethics that says it is perfectly acceptable to publish lies. And if the story is important enough; hold the presses for the print media and show film media the following day. Your excuses are very self-serving and not exactly true. What journalist "asks" for something pro-Israel? Do you routinely walk around asking for stories? Not much of a journalist if you cannot find stories on your own. And if you are indeed a journalist, as you represent (you have not convinced me), there is nothing to stop you from telling the truth about what you know. You do not always have to have interviews, photo ops and film clips. Al Jazeera has plenty of those -- does that make them a legitimate news agency? No. If you want to appeal to consumers other than the great unwashed who need pictures and paint-by-numbers, all you need to do is present a credible story. The truth needs no varnish.
48. The bounty of Iranian Pirates
jo   (03.16.11)
Do you know why the foreign press shows no interest in a vessel loaded with weapons?;too boring. the same old toutine by soldiers lining up the goods; nice, neat, serial # showing, and not a scratch on them. A better scenario; short, to the point, an attenttion getter. Remove from the Pirate's ship a few samples of the booty, take pictures of the rest, the Captain and his crew in life boats (with a compas), attach a fuse to the cargo, then boom in the bottom of the ocean (filmed of course). That should arouse some curiosity.
49. #5, not true
Danny   (03.17.11)
These media don't want anything to interfere with their narrative of poorly armed Hamas fighting Israel. Obviously surface to surface cruise missiles doesn't fit in. Like 2 year olds if they don't see it then it doesn't exist. As for not hanging around they are perfectly happy to hang around when youths are throwing rocks to catch some possible event.

While you have many valid points, I still believe you have counter the lies. That's what we both do here, because it annoys us (at least me). So, I still think that will always have to be done, as I said before, I personally don't want Israel defined by it's bigoted and hateful enemies. I've personally seen the shock on a persons face when I show them videos and pictures of what really going on (recently with the flotilla videos), Many unwittingly believe the lies, they just don't have the time for the research. So all I'm saying is at least put it out there. You probably have seen the website "honest reporting.com", and the page "the photo that started it all". That's why it will always be necessary. But we can agree to disagree on this point. But a picture is worth a thousand words and I enjoy exposing the lies, as we see HERE: http://www.aish.com/jw/id/48890577.html There nothing wrong with telling the truth, Israel will always win that battle.
