1. Unlimited building is a Jewish right
Steve ,   San Francisco   (03.18.11)
Every perceiving person sees that the Arab plan is first the drive the Jews out of Yesha and then drive them out of the rest of the land. The Jewish state will live and will die by whether it chooses to build or not to build. It doesn't seem like Mr. Netanyahu has internalized this truth. No country has the right to tell us where Jews may live or may not live.
2. This is pretty disturbing...
Dani ,   Israel   (03.18.11)
Maybe the other side of the coin is that the PM + friends wanted some kind of reaction from the international community considering the fact that they all ignored what happened in Itamar and not only that but instantly brought up in any article that they are settlers and shouldn't be there so that's what you get. I dunno, I know I am reaching but what else could Bibbi be thinking for this insulting move to further his own agenda?
3. These weren't even new permits
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (03.18.11)
They had already been approved. Now if he had announce that 5 new villages would be built, each named for one of the victims that might have been a worthy legacy.
4. Israel suffers from poor long-term and strategic thinking
christianpalestinian ,   las vegas   (03.18.11)
Building jewish settlements on stolen Palestinian land is a lost cause for israel. They should know better.
5. Ludicrous? Insulting? Not in a year from now!
Heather Czerniak ,   Mississauga, Canada   (03.18.11)
In the second half of this year, when the United States and Europe will experience the worst economic turmoil since the Great Depression, there will be no point in us Jews hanging around where we're most likely going to be blamed for all of it. Israel will need to build a lot more settlements than what has already been approved. My husband and I and our two kids are moving to Israel in June. I have a cousin in Wisconsin who will move to Israel next week. None of us will look back. The rest of you had better make preparations to make aliyah very soon. The Diaspora is coming to an end. It's time to go home.
6. this leftist Journalist is Ludicrous
Moish ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.18.11)
Terror attacks didn't start in 1948 or 1967, the Arabs were killing our civilians (1929 Hebron, Jerusalem, Tzfat Riots, etc.) way before there was ever a Jewish State or an Army to defend our helpkless civilians! Stop writing your garbage and study your own history!
7. Netanyahu's Value of a Jew...
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.18.11)
Rabbi Ovadya Yosef once recounted, in a nationalistic rhetoric, that the little finger of a Jew is worth more than the lives of a million Palestinians. This was said in front of a small crowd of congregation members at his synagogue and did not reflect an actual suggestion for military policy. However, the sentiment of this statement can be understood. Who can place a price tag on the life of a fellow national? Hamas, who hold captive our dear and nearly forgotten brother, Gilad Shalit, has considered the lives - nay, the freedom, of one thousand Palestinians a fair exchange. This number reflects the sentiment of the Hamas toward its fellow nationals, who are apparently very devalued in comparison with one of ours (one thousand to one!). Netanyahu lowers the barometer even furhter. Two adults, living legally in a village set up by our own government, and three of their children - these lives are worth 500 housing units whose permits were already given by a previous government. One little finger of a fellow national over the lives of a million foreigners; very nationalistic in nature. One prisoner of our fellow nationals in exchange for one thousand of theirs; kind of flattering but it tells you with whom you are dealing. The life of one fellow national pioneer for 100 already authorized housing units; this is mockery - and the message sent to the fellow national should be priceless.
8. bibi correct but bad time
moron ,   galut   (03.18.11)
look at Land 100 years ago--jews build--look at arab world today--they murder! when tragedy occurs all one can do is build
9. "They murder and we build" - maybe it means something else
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (03.18.11)
Ever since Jews started returning to the land they've been building - building farms and towns, factories and businesses, the water carrier, schools and institutions. When Israel took over the territories in 1967, they built there too - not just settlements, but roads and sewage lines, schools and medical centers, etc. When Israel left Gaza, the Palestinians had the chance to build. Instead they destroyed not just the synagogues left standing but the greenhouses. And shortly thereafter Arabs were killing Arabs - Fatah vs. Hamas. And when they have the chance, they kill Jews. Maybe, as Kadmon claims, Netanyahu was stating his own version of a "price tag" policy. But maybe he was in fact distinguishing us from our enemies. As Hamas reminds us, "The Jews love life, while we love death."
10. what a loser
Golan ,   modiin   (03.18.11)
Sima's solution to arab terror is more appeasement of Arab terror as a reward.
11. "they murder & we build"
LaGrande ,   Lakeland, USA   (03.18.11)
Perhaps PM Netanyahu should have said "they kill one Israel child & we will kill 10 of theirs"! (as Hamas has claimed). Give me a break, I know how he meant this & anyone with a brain does. They murder ref: kill us & we build: ref which would you rather be a murderer or a builder? NOT home for lives! The Arab world publishes pictures of dead Palestinians & the world "cries" for them; Israel publishes pictures of the dead Fogel family and the world decries "poor taste". Israel will forever live under this double standard if they give into it as this article implies they should!
12. an unapproved question from a 12-year-old brought him...
eporue ,   europe   (03.18.11)
totally out of balance... his reply "they murder and we build" was politically a catastrophe, rude, and for israelis - especially the family - probably very insulting... as usual, it was totally inappropriate... bibi is no leader, he isnt even a diplomat. what he touches turns into shit. in the meantime its clear, its about leadership skills etc, but most of all, it is because he is as intelligent as a bucket...
13. Sima, stop bashing prime-minister of your own country!
Michael ,   Moscow, USA   (03.18.11)
Yesterday I saw an interview with Benjamin Netanyahu on CNN. Conducted by some fat ugly britton who’s just a fresh replacement for Larry King. Speaking of Japan, Libya, Egypt and Lebanon was like speaking about a weather on Albion. The Iranian theme made his fake theatrical voice a little bit more emotional. But on the issue of a response to the murder of an innocent Jewish family britton’s emotionally-charged voice reached its crescendo. He really played well that pissed-off accusatory tone. It really hit his anti-Semitic nerve. It sounded very real. Netanyahu – build and rebuild the Land of Israel! That’s what really pisses them off. Therefore it’s a sign of a right policy.
14. pathetic sima kadmon
ALEXI   (03.18.11)
sima kadmon joins eitan haber, a depressive, olmert, livni non combat israelis who gave us gaza withdrawal, rockets and death. As if US will protect israel in the pinch-bull-ask Mubarak??!! Bibi meant that killing israelis will not get the arabs their ends. Sima tries to poke holes. You look at oz, burg, olmert and livni. They all rebelled against their parents at israel's expense. Livni still thinks lebanon resolution was successul and her way is run to the US,. It was US pressure that led barak to lift roadblocks that got the fogels killed. Obmama has no attachment to israel except politically, his heart is with lying rashid khalidi who may have been appointed to columbia U because of arab grant money. It is people like kadmon, livni, olmerty, peres, ben ami, beilin, bleeding heart illusionists, verter and amir oren that sustained hitler well into his holocaust as these are self hating weak jews who I am ashamed of. They humiliate themselves and israel before big master US. Bibi has his shortcomings and one may even ask why he wanted PMship if he finds the challenge too much. But he is light years ahead of the shmutz before him. I now wonder about rabin if eitan haber, the john bohner of israel who cries and cries and cries, and says sign anything just so the arabs won't attack us and the US will back us.
15. NETANYAHU IS CHEAP LIKE HIS
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (03.18.11)
Slogans .A million homes for every jew who is harmed .
16. You build and We rebuild : )
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.18.11)
17. Building
ike ,   chicago   (03.18.11)
The writer fails to understand what the Arabs have grasped, that when dealing with another party one must deal in a currency they value. To Jews it is human life to Arabs it is not. They would trade life for life gladly. What they value is land. Israel loses a life it is permanent. In response the arabs should loses land permanently.
18. Let's hope...
Jonny Gee ,   NY NY   (03.18.11)
Let's hope that Bibi uttered what he truly believes in.
19. They murder and we build - large
Vladone ,   Belmont   (03.18.11)
"“They murder and we build" is a way to show strength and determination. Nothing wrong in the message.
20. So Without Proof A Palestinian Committed The Crime ...
World Citizen ,   the world   (03.18.11)
Bibi Collectively Punishes A Entire Indigenous Population? This is against international law and another reason to arrest Netanyahu when he leaves Israel.
21. #4 wrong
avi ,   nyc   (03.18.11)
Palestinian land is Jewish land because Jews are the true palestinians. Arab invaders belong in Arabia
22. The folly of Leftism
Brod ,   USA   (03.18.11)
It sounds more like an enemy from within harping the theme song of the dark forces-the world of AntiSemites and Islamist-Jihadists. It is time they understand that Judea and Samaria are Israel's liberated historic homeland-Land of Israel that Israel liberated from the Islamist-Jihadist occupiers in 1967, just as the Spainish liberated their historic homeland of Spain from the Islamist-Jihadist occupiers in the 15 th century.
23. build build and build
yaniv ,   uk   (03.18.11)
. What Netanyahu did was exposé the west anti Israel agenda (in the name of oil prices) by announcing he would build more housing and the west reaction was more concerned with the building than the massacre. The west does not give a shit about jewish people life, its more important for them not to upset the muslims. one day it will come nack to bit them in a big way.
24. World Citizen #20 what punishment?
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (03.18.11)
What in the world are you smoking? There has been absolutely not one single punishment, either singly or collectively. As usual you are blaming the victim for 'crimes' that have never happened. As for international laws - you wouldn't know one if you ever got your head out of your ass.
25. lol even your PM doesnt care about you...pity
deutronomy 28 ,   world   (03.18.11)
26. To: No. 20
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.18.11)
1. "Without proof?" Did you miss the part where the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade -- the military branch of Fatah -- claimed credit for the massacre of the Fogel family? 2. "Indigenous population?" The only people indigenous to Judea and Samaria are the Jews. The ersatz "Palestinians" are indigenous to the Hejaz in Western Arabia. 3. Please document why you believe Mr. Netanyahu has acted contrary to international law. It's all well and good to throw caution to the winds and come out with noble sounding statements -- let's have some documented evidence, okay? Otherwise -- you're just a airbag filled with noxious gas.
27. To: No. 4
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.18.11)
Judea and Samaria are non-sovereign land. Israel is well within her rights to settle. Stop lying -- whether to yourself or to others. Educate yourself here: http://www.globalpolitician.com/24388-israel-jerusalem Although you would benefit from reading the treatise in its entirety, feel free to scroll down to the section on Israel's takeover of non-sovereign lands following the Six Day War. Finally -- you need to get over yourselves. The world has passed the ersatz "Palestinians" by. You should have taken the deal in 1947, or the twice since that a two-state solution has been proffered. Now, it is simply too late. The offers are off the table.
28. there is only one proper response for these murders
chaim.s ,   brooklyn b.y   (03.18.11)
the complete destruction and annihilation of the terrorist infrastructure in yehuda and shomron, and the transfer of the palestinians to their real homeland, which is jordan
29. Palestinians must build
Truthseeker ,   USA   (03.18.11)
If some Jews, thankfully not all, believe that new settlements must be built when Jews are killed then it follows that the Palestinians should be able to build whenever a Palestinian is killed. Given the fact that the number of Palestinians killed by Israel is far greater than the number of Jews killed, it wouldn't be long before there would be far more Palestinian homes than Jewish. And since these lands are the occupied territories, with every Jewish settlement illegal it would only be just. Problem is that Israel will not allow Palestinians to build on their own land. No wonder there is such enmity between the occupier and the occupied. Perhaps one day those who support the brutal occupation should be forced to live as do the Palestinians. They would not be as patient as are the Palestinians.
30. Any other self respecting country would repay them in kind..
shneerhere   (03.18.11)
Ask the Russians, the CHinese. Go ask the Americans what they'd do. Really do. We should've wiped out the closest Arab village, as Mickey Marcus suggested in his autobiography when his convoy took sniper fire from an Arab outpost. But, no, the Pope said we're now good little Jews so we have to behave like good little Christians and turn the other cheek (smack!) yet again. Disgusting.
