1. Your conclusion is wrong.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (03.19.11)
And to a certain extent, so is the concept of a ''price tag'' as a way of establishing a deterrence. Forget about peace, negotiations, agreements. This idea only exists in your head (and, sadly,in the heads of many in Israel). There is no peace process. There is only a war against us, the object of which is our eventual elimination. Given this fact (and it is a fact), our only concern is the defeat of our enemies by military means. We must destroy every hope of victory over us. At the same time, we must reject the idea of a two-state solution. The land is ours, period. We should forget about propping up the Hashemite regime & openly declare that Jordan is Palestine. Expel the corrupt terrorist regime of Fatah. Let them go into exile in Jordan. Let King Abdallah worry about what to do with them. The Arab world is in turmoil, heading into anarchy, not democracy, the Islamists have the initiative. For the foreseeable future, peace is not an option. Winning wars is how to achieve a measure security.
2. LOL do you get paid for this author?
ALeesa ,   Hadera   (03.19.11)
This is an ideaolgy based in Islam to hate the Jews since the time of Mohammad but Israel just gets the Arabs even more upset as they say push us into the sea!
3. To this day the killer's identity remains unknown.
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.19.11)
4. Bravo Mr. Hendel!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.19.11)
At last, someone who understands that Arabs respect only strength. They perceive tolerance as weakness. It is time to show them that we can crush them any time we want. We won all the wars. We should not lose the "peace."
5. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.19.11)
Not true. We know he was a member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade. That would make him a member of Fatah, wouldn't it? We can always impose collective punishment, because as far as I am concerned, all Fatah is guilty -- the killer(s) learned their craft and their ideology somewhere. You're all murderous scum; we know it, yet you insist on proving it over and over. Your day is coming, Salma. Tick tock.
6. Settle all Judea/Samaria. End phony "peace process".
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.19.11)
The author is correct to advocate massive building in Judea and Samaria. However, we must build all of our land. Not only the "large blocs". This land is ours now and forever. As for the phony "peace process", it's way past time to end it. It brings us nothing but mass terror and war. Israel's last two wars are 100% results of retreats. Moreover, every single goal of "peace talks" with the P.A. is evil. From stealing Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria from Israel and trimming our waist to 8 miles (15 minute tank ride) to inundating Israel with rockets and hostile Arabs. Free ourselves from the whole, rotten, miserable "peace process" abomination.
7. #1 Agree with Terry. Enough "peace process" already.
Howard K   (03.19.11)
8. Me Hendel you are correct BUT
BJL ,   usa   (03.19.11)
The reason why there are "price tag" reprisals is because the IDF isnt doing its job. Somebody has to raise the price of arab terror. If not the IDF, the people will do it. So, until the IDF regengages the enemy, I support price tag reprisals.
9. YOU ARE TOTALY WRONG -
Orao. ,   Srbia.   (03.19.11)
Your past actions – that is, your response to the violence and the price tag you set – will determine the rival’s conduct in the future. -THERE SHOULD BE NO CONDUCT IN THE FUTURE !!!. Orao.Srbia.
10. Hendel is correct but not complete
RAYS ,   USA   (03.19.11)
What is needed after a terror attack of any kind is a response that hurts and undermines the local support of the offender (Hamas or Fatah, etc). Example : if the attack is rocets from Gaza a response might be warning residents to stay away from Petrol stations and then blowing one up. If the attack is in "The West Bank" a fitting response is BUILDING a new settlement.. Simply killing the attackers will not deter these attacks. They have plenty of personell to fill terrorist positions. Hit infrastructure can turn residents against those causing them discomfort.
11. we tried restraint...`
art ,   usa   (03.19.11)
sadly, restraint was seen as weakness and the "highroad" gained no brownie points. Restraint only led to demands for more restraint and surrender. There must be punishment for acts of terror and MURDER . The arab street HATES Israel even if it is restrained what's to lose. The obligation of the gov is to protect its people not to protect its enemies., Israel must be aggressive. Let others show restarint
12. Correct!
Jill ,   USA   (03.19.11)
Finally an opinion with some sense on Ynet.
13. Unfortunately, Terry is wrong too
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (03.19.11)
Winning militarily against Arabs is a short term solution. The main problem is the great number of Arabs residing in the Land of the Jews even if this is not a demographic ticking bomb. As long as this mass of Arabs is so close to and intermingled with Jews there will always be renewed violence against Jews, therefore the solution is in separating populations in the Middle East but not the leftist version. There are already practically no Jews left in Arab countries so half the problem is solved. The other half of the solution is transferring 90% of the Arabs residing west of the Jordan river to somewhere else far away into Arab lands, including the Gaza Arabs. The remaining ones will be the families of the ones who served in the IDF, Druzee, Cherkez, Christians, Jewish converts to Islam, some Bedouin tribes and others who have shown in positive ways that they want to be part of Israel and love Jews. A campaign to encourage with incentives the remaining ones to convert to Judaism has to be launched and if again subversive elements will be found among them then they will be deported in a second wave. This has been the history of the Middle East of how conflicts are permanently resolved. In the last several years in Syria a million peasants were transferred by force hundreds of kilometers from east to west, so there are recent precedents. As unpleasant as it sounds this is the one and only existing chance for Peace. Israel is too small, and lacks the power to change the Arabs society, backward mentality and Arabs will not do it on their own to achieve Peace in any other way. Slowly but surely public opinion in Israel and in the world will change toward this conclusion simply because nothing else works.
14. Many US taxpayers are now angered at Israeli meddling
Hostage   (03.19.11)
Your days are numbered. Republicans can't count on Tea Party to support Israel because they don't.
15. finally some sense and rationality. good luck in convincing
ralph   (03.19.11)
the dead heads about you. the left is a dead end. its actions directly encourage the new barbarism, but they are to dense to understand that and to blind to history and facts.
16. Mr. Hendel! It is www - war, war war! The word "peace" is
tanya ,   tel aviv israel   (03.19.11)
irrelevant at this point of ME history. Nobody cancelled muslim blood revenge, being controlled by dictators. Now, when dictators are gone, we'll witness "democratic" ME at it's best, when brother kills brother, family is against family, clan is against clan, tribe is against tribe...never ending story for the next 30, 50, 100 ....who knows how many years.
17. Go on with the construction, this is the right response. If
Ariel   (03.19.11)
... the palestinians want peace talks they should stop aggressions and seat around the negotiation table as the USA requested from them! This the right time for an extense building program to begin.
18. I agree, it is time for Cast Lead 2
Leon ,   Ottawa, Canada   (03.19.11)
Israel has not had to 'defend' itself for a few years. It is time to clean the warehouses of US ammunition and restock the inventory with new stuff. Plus Bibi hasn't launched any major 'operations' yet. Attacking an unarmed 'terrorist' entity like Gaza can only improve their otherwise stellar international reputation. Hamas with all their 'advanced' weaponry should prove a willing adversary for the 'courageous' IDF.
19. Kudos to Ynet
Tommy Marver ,   Mendota Heights USA   (03.19.11)
Kudos to Ynet for printing such an idiotic opinion piece and showing they believe in a free press. Israeli "price tag" policy has been going on for some time and its only accomplishment is more violence and mourning for all. Building more settlements is not a "price tag" punishment since the building of them just as often occurs before an atrocity as well as after.
20. #3 Salma
Erudite ,   Australia   (03.20.11)
Salma, you are wrong again. We all know who the killers are. THEY ARE PALESTINIANS ARABS and you are all guilty by exercising your cultural heritage of murder, death, and destruction. A tradition from time immemorial.
21. #14, I head up a Tea Party group & we support Israel
Claudia ,   Tampa USA   (03.20.11)
So you liberal f**k you can take your denigration & lies somewhere else. 65% of Americans support Israel and that has been unchanged for decades. We have told Sen. Rand Paul there are consequences to his attempt to cut Israel foreign aid, going the same route as his liberterian father. Perhaps the Tea Party Patriots needs to keep a banner on the web site stating that so that liars like "Hostage" and Paul remember some budget cuts are off limits!
22. Israel time will come sooner than you expect
IRAN#1   (03.20.11)
Keep doing what you have been doing while the world changes! You will be unpleasantly surprised when your time comes :)
23. EARTHQUAKES WILL DESTROY ALL IRAN'S NUCLEAR REACTORS
IRAN IS FINISHED   (03.20.11)
JAPAN IS AN ADVANCED COUNTRY WITH MANY EARTHQUAKE RESISTANT BUILDINGS. IRAN IS NOT. THE DAMAGE IN IRAN WILL BE ENORMOUS AND THE HUMAN TOLL WILL BE IN THE MANY MILLIONS. AFTER THAT IRAN WILL BE UNINHABITABLE UNTIL AL-MEHDI RETURNS, WHICH IS NEVER. SO MUCH FOR THE DREAMS OF BEING A NUCLEAR POWER!
24. #54 Hostage
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.20.11)
63% of American's favor Israel, according to the latest Gallup poll, feel free to look for yourself 37% that don't, is puny in comparison That's the many you're talking about, the minority Your statement about the Tea Party's support, surely you have some viable source you can post so we can evaluate it ?? or did you just dream that up for impact ?? In most instances, those that pretend to speak for many, are usually speaking for themselves, since nobody appointed you to speak for them Next point, the money that Israel receives, is "BY LAW, MANDATED TO BE SPENT IN THE USA ON AMERICAN MANUFACTURED GOODS", which in turn puts American's to work Any nitwit should know that, including you
25. as if israil did other thing ||||||||||||
(03.20.11)
26. #3 my bet its Mohammad
Golan ,   modiin   (03.20.11)
although it might be Khalil or Ahmed or Fatima
27. #26 oh yea what you said is true " might be".
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.20.11)
And it might be Moshe, Golan or Sarah J.
28. Salma - Palestinian terrorists did these murders:
Brian ,   Judean Peoples Front   (03.20.11)
Kibbutz Metzer - five innocent Israelis shot dead including a mother and her two babies. Fatah claims responsibility. Afula - suicide bomber kills and maims students and adults, Hamas claims responsibility. Gaza - Jihad gunmen shoot and kill pregnant Tali Hatuel and her four daugters, then walk up to the car and shoot them each in the head to make sure they are dead. The girls are aged 11, 9, 7 and 2. There are dozens of more examples of Palestinians murdering families. Face the FACTS, Salma, if it walks like a Palestinian terrorist attack, talks like a Palestinian terrorist attack, smells like a Palestinian terrorist attack, and looks like a Palestinian terrorist attack, then there is factual proof and mountains of evidence to point the finger of guilt at the Palestinians. You Palestinians are on the record for approving attacks against Israeli civilians. It very well could be guilt by association, but the facts certainly look 99.99% certain that Palestinians murdered the Fogel family. So let's not talk about the Itamar attack, what about all those other attacks that killed innocent Israeli families, mothers and babies? Remember, many of these are Hamas prisoners in Israeli jails who not only were convicted for their crimes, they freely and proudly admit that they killed innocent civilians. Yet you Palestinians call them heroes. I would be ashamed of such behavior and insist that these killers stay in jail - yet, you want them released to kill again.
29. Salma? Are you silent because you can't face the facts?
Brian ,   Judean Peoples Front   (03.20.11)
Read #28, Salma. Tell us why we should not believe that Palestinians carried out the Itamar attack. Tell us why all the facts and history point at it being just another in a long, ugly line of Palestinian attacks on civilians. Salma?
30. salma can you tell me why should have a jew killed
daniela   (03.20.11)
the family? for which reason? do you see a war between jews like hamas fatah ? like muslims and christians like sunni e shia? there is no war between us.
