2. where is Salma baby?
John ,   Tel-Aviv   (03.18.11)
Oh? This schmuck kills innocent civilians? Recently he said that Israel isn't interested in peace. Peace with who? A corrupt tyrant& Unelected ruler? I think the world is becoming one big joke. Even our leftists purr that Syria is the main powerbroker and we need to urgently give the Golan back to them. Madness.
3. Who are the protestors?
Joe ,   Canada   (03.18.11)
If the report is accurate in writing that the protestors were shouting "god, Syria, freedom" then one may be concerned that freedom is their third priority & religion their first. The more so in view that Muslim sects do not seem persecuted in Syria. So the implication might be that the protestors feel the Assad regime is not enough religious. If that is so one may wonder if these protestors are not dreaming of a copycat Iranian theocratic regime.
4. To: No. 1

Looks Like Your GRIP may be slipping? me oh my , desprate? Shooting your own people? Oh yea they are really not people right just a bunch of arab peasents, no matter the world sat by as indigenous Africans were Slaughtered in darfur? The world sat back and watched as iranian protesters were Shot, Beaten, Raped, Murdered on more than one occasion. eygpt, tunisia, libyia, baharain, yemen... Looks like the mess in the middle east has been created by islamic dictators, whats the theme here?
7. Oy vey, another no-fly-zone?
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (03.18.11)
Nah, not likely. Wrong dictator. Sorry, Syrian people, Obama & the other Western leaders like Assad. Of course, this is because Syria engages in terrorism, actively aids in killing Americans in Iraq, has colonized Lebanon, has a clandestine nuclear program, is an ally of Iran, all this in addition to abusing his own people. Does this make sense?
8. So what?
Steve from Raleigh   (03.18.11)
Seriously. All of a sudden Arab atrocities are objectionable? Why is that? Because they're for once not murdering Jews?
9. @2 John ,
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.18.11)
the Golan Will return to the Syrians in one case, when the Syrian regime the best friends of "Israel" falls down, inshallah very soon. The Golan will return with a real democratic Syrian regime .

allys in pressuring Israel to give in to the demands of it's Arab enemies... Obama may finally act against the mad cornel, but he will do his utmost to preserve his Syrian ally...without the Syrians, Hussein Obama would completely lose his leverage to bully the Jewish state...

Arie ,   BaGolan   (03.18.11)
Not a word printed about this in Haaretz? Oh well, we will hear plenty when the military responds. Besides, they're too busy celebrating Gideon Lev's Euro tour paid for by the Schockens promoting International "kill a Jew week" while speaking at podiums festooned with Hamas flags
17. Let us all pass out sweets to celebrate
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.18.11)
18. salma Jerusalem and Golan are israeli property
Daniela   (03.18.11)
only.
19. ehud barak should mind his own business
alexi   (03.18.11)
who asks barak for israel's opinion on what to do in libya? israel should stay the hell out of offering opinions. barak ran away lebanon, ran away from training accident, refused to go along with syrian nuclear hit, wanted to end cast lead early, screwed up the marmora. Who cares about his opinions??!!. All great generals seem to reach a point of collapse-dayan in 73, halutz in 2006, and barak in 1999 and 2000 He's done. Stick a fork in him. Bibi feels he needs his 5 votes. Otherwise, its hard to understand why bibi would not be concerned about barak's repeated failures.
20. #18 recorded in the bible?

21. It is not funny...
aline silverman ,   israel   (03.19.11)
in fact it is a tragedy !!!! So many people are being killed...It is amazing though that the Arab people all over the world are rebelling against their tyrants !!!! It had to happen after 1400 years of obscurantism !!!!

23. We got to really get it together before it gets worse.
Ernest   (03.19.11)
Put into perspective the wishes of these people protesting and you likely will have similar scenerio's as what the people in Egypt are experiencing. The people of Egypt are in the process of establishing a new constitution. It stands to be seen how they will set their priorities and the less ambiguous and more precise they are, the better. People are suffering and dying. It may be physically, spiritually or both. To take another look at how it might be best for those directly involved in setting up the structure of which people will live their lives to have more favorable results take place, it could be helped in how governing and even religious institutions are run. It may not even have to incur enormous financial distributions, maybe just some ways of organizing. Long term security is something everyone is looking for and they could be ready, willing and able to work for it. Whatever indecisions or impasses may currently be pending shouldn't diminish the good will people should have for their fellow man . In this "cradle of civilization", one could expect to see the idealist of situations. Problems are becoming exasterbated and to be able to overcome these issues would be a milestone for the future. The countries experiencing these protests are capable of resolving the issues, maintaining the peace, communicating to the people their responsibilities and why and showing how issues are surmountable. Member countries of the Arab League are involved. They may even be able to device a system that would work to maintain the peace and tranquility with the honor and respect befit the religious at heart, and that's got to be good. Try to understand the segmented serious ladies of Syria. Egypt is still a very good meeting place.
