religious education you want is for "fun" only, meaningless in relation to the U.S. Jewry. In the U.S. religion and State are separate as you may know. Very few American Jews consider religion worth anything beyond a social experiment, something to do for 2-3 hours a week. More than half of American Jews in every generation depart from Judaism by marrying non-Jews and preferring to raise their children as non-Jews. The support of Israel in the U.S. comes from non-Jews mostly. But secular education -- sociology, psychology, political science -- has the chance of grasping the meaning of it.

What can be learnt from people who overwhelmingly voted for the current administration, which is the most hostile to Israel (compared to all previous ones) ?

Jules, Disregarding the general absurdity of your comment, it was George Bush, Sr. who withheld loan guarantees from Shamir. Go read a book. And besides, American Jews are citizens of America. While Israel is a concern, they base their votes on domestic issues. If settlements in the territories were a top priority for them, I'm sure they'd move to Eretz Yisrael.

What a waste of money!!! They should stay home and use the money on helping Jews who already live here. I was in the US last year and visited several Jewish non-Orthodox communities. I felt sick by what I saw: assimilation, intermarriage, elderly communities with almost no children, etc etc. The future of Jewry is here in Israel.
