Iron Dome was never intended and never planned to protect a civilian population. At best, Iron Dome will protect critical and strategic installations. This is part of the "Barak Doctrine" that says surrender critical defensive territory, spend lots of money on useless American weaponry and give the civilians KoolAid to drink. As for the American taxpayers: the US helped finance the project because they need it to protect American military installations in places like Saudi Arabia and Diego Garcia. The DoD knew that the Israelis can develop it four times as fast for a quarter or the price compared to American companies.

I was on a kibbutz on the Gaza border last week during some of these attacks. It amazing how Ehud Barak has screwed things up. I just hope if or when Israel goes into Gaza it is not to put Fatah in power instead of destroying the rockets. If Fatah gets power they will want to divide Israel physically in two. Stop all electric power and water to Gaza that will get their attention fast. Why should we provide them with this if we don't occupy them now.

It is clear that the escalation of mortar and Grad rocket and Kassam missile attacks is being orchestrated by Iran and its Syrian puppet to try and draw Israel into a major confrontation in Gaza like Operation Cast Lead to draw attention away from Syria's massacre of its own people. Israel must respond but must do so with caution so that no civilians on the other side are killed.
