1. Mr. Hendel try listening the Syrians
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (03.25.11)
Those same protesters that want 'democracy' and are against torture are calling for their army to attack us. You are just like the same 'experts' that claimed that Egypt and Tunisia wanted the same thing, and neither were the case there either. Your ignorance on the subject is total.
2. Yoaz Hendel the delusional!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (03.25.11)
He writes: "...There is nobody that would write a song for our Syrian brothers and post it on YouTube..." Does he follow the news? These "brothers" are demonstrating with slogans to liberate Golan! Surely you don't want to support your deadly enemy for the sake of democracy!
3. I'm afraid that we all
Yossef   (03.25.11)
have to change our mind after these uprisings in the arab world, even Salma :)
4. Silent On Syria
Edward ,   Savannah, USA   (03.25.11)
I would direct Mr. Hendel to READ another article posted by Ynet close by his article called, "Deraa Rally: Liberate Golan"and see WHY there is silence on Israel's part about what is going on in Syria. Perhaps Mr. Hendel actually believes that these people in Syria want a democracy like Israel. I think not. What will emerge is a radicalized group of ragheads that want Sharia Law imposed in a Muslim Caliphate stretching from Spain to India. They actually want the whole world Muslim but they intend to start small to fool the useful idiots in the world that actually believe that these people want freedom. Yeah, "freedom" from Israel!!!
5. #3 Yossef , have I to change my mind?
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.25.11)
In my mind, you'll always be my best jewish friend ; )
6. I must admit
Yossef   (03.25.11)
that at the beginning I was not impressed by the uprisings in Egypt, I was even afraid of it, because I thought it was a manipulation by the muslim brotherhood. Now, it seems that the arab spring is something new, and may be a game changer. If really arab people are fighting for freedom, and not to import iran way of life, we have, may be, a chance to improve the situation in the middle-east. I would not agree to give back the Golan to Assad, because I know what he will do with it. But if we have in Damas a honest democratic government who really want peace and decides to work for its people, in collaboration with us and not in confrontation, the fate of the Golan may change and we may expect to think differently about this issue. May be more can come out from this "arab spring". On the israeli/palestinian side we have maybe to begin to think different ;-)
7. #5 Salma, what is better ?
Yossef   (03.25.11)
to be your best jewish friend or your best jewish enemy ? Not sure :-) BTW I am not sure you know real jews, I mean jews as real persons, not just thru a talkback. Don't ask me if I know real arabs, the answer is YES, I know a lot of arabs, some of them are even part of my best friends (not just arab friends ;) Your mind will change when you'll have real jewish friends, for real.
8. charity for syria
yosef ,   memphis   (03.25.11)
I am sure there would be many readers willing to donate to a fund to help you move to Damascus Mr Hendel to save our "syrian brothers". As usual, your writing was senseless. Shabbat Shalom!
9. Thomas "Ibrahim" Jefferson?
David   (03.25.11)
Pretty unlikely that a Thomas Jefferson is going to appear in this bunch as much as we'd like to see that happen.
10. Very simple why the world is silent about Syria ..
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (03.25.11)
it is an arch enemy of the Jewish state of Israel which the world likes to keep as a future launching pad for missiles on the Jews once again. Right is wrong and wrong is right in this mad islamic paedophilic world. I am absolutely sick to death of filthy islam in my country and sick to death of reading the news everyday and seeing that 98% of all wars in the world today are caused by the cult of islam.
11. Silent on Syria
Elyah ,   City Of Angels, U.S.   (03.25.11)
The world is silent because there is no fricken oil in Syria! Duh.
12. A: Because there is an agenda to delegitimize Israel!
EZ ,   US   (03.25.11)
As if that were not obvious? The world lo es to hate Jews and the reason has stumped every psychologist, sociologist and anthropologist who's studied "why". It stumped them because it is soo irrational, hypocritical and inhumane, scientists and researchers just can't get their heads around anti-semitism: they dont want to believe "civilized" people can be in first place for the "Darwin" Award, LOL! Syria is a very weak nation and could b wiped out quickly, as could Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon or Iran. It seems the "activists" out there have been exposed as morons for supporting the true barbarians who've been systemically murdering their own throughout the Arab/Muslim world. How can that be? These people of peace who deserve the worlds bleeding hearts, live and support.
13. #5
(03.25.11)
but it's a known fact you do not have a mind.
14. Syria's Violations of Basic Human Rights.
Douglas Fireman ,   chicago, USA   (03.25.11)
Syria should be next on the Coalitions list.
15.  And not just...
Pinhas Bayit ,   Bet HaKerem   (03.25.11)
Why haven't we opined about Bahrain and Yemen and Libya and what did we say of any value about Tunisia. When our Bibi spoke to our ambassadors about Mubarak and Egypt it was pretty pointless. It made us look like a desperate housewife - how will this effect us? How will they look at us? What will they do next? What should we say tomorrow? Asusual there is no sign of a long term strategy for our relations with this changing backdrop other than to be narrow minded. But the fact is that we are surrounded by peoples who have the same aspirations we had before 1948. If we were smart we'd be encouraging them. This could lead to a different Mid-East in which we could enjoy better relations. What we seem to be doing is squandering every opportunity for short term gain. We appear to have reverted to something of a Metzada complex.
16. Silence may be due to who is behind the protests
Joe ,   Canada   (03.25.11)
In some of the protests the crowds were shouting "God, Syria, freedom". The apparent priority of the word order might raise fears in the minds of Western politicians. One should also remember that Syria is an artificial creation of former colonial powers made up of various ethnic groups dominated for 2 generations by a mafia like family clan of the Assads. In the past he only group that has shown the fanatic will & power to confront the Assads are the extremists of the Muslem brotherhood. The terrible price they paid in the mass killings of Hama by Hafez Assad, the father of the current ruler Bashie Assad can only make the descendants of the victims itching to take a bloody revenge as is traditional in the Middle-East. So the west knows the devil they have in the Assad clan but might not wish to find itself dealing with even worse figures.
17. #10 is right. #6, #15 are dreaming.
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (03.25.11)
Yossef and Pinhas, I wish you were right, however, these Arab revolts are by an alliance of Marxists and Muslim Brotherhood and both want to wipe out the Jews. The Marxists are friendly to Assad and his pal Ahmadinejad and that is why the situation in Syria is not being reported. The fall of Egypt helped the Iranians have access in the Suez and to build a base in Latakia so they can launch their attacks on the Jewish State from Syria instead of from Iran. As for Egypt, the New York Times is reporting that the student protesters have disappeared and the MB are rising in influence and popularity among the military. The MB, who gave birth to Hamas, were not organized until B Hussein Obama (a Marxist from a Muslim family) became President. Obama's past experience was as a "community organizer" using radical, revolutionary tactics. Obama is "re-organizing" the Mideast and helping the MB rise to power - to destroy Israel. For 20 years, Obama called the Israel-hater, Jeremiah Wright, his "spiritual mentor" and now we are seeing what happens when a man like that is elected to the US presidency.
18. 17. Sue
Pinhas Bayit ,   Bet HaKerem   (03.25.11)
Which branch of the tea party did you create? "Obama is "re-organizing" the Mideast and helping the MB rise to power - to destroy Israel." Are you sane? You sounded like it at the start but by the end with a comment like this, I doubt it.
19. #17 Sue
Yossef   (03.26.11)
Well, it was just some questions I asked, actually only one: are we understanding really what is happening in the arab world and the consequences of this global uprising ? Everything manipulated by Obama ? Hmm...
20. #18, it would be more comforting if it were true
Danny   (03.26.11)
as opposed to the fact that Obama is simply indecisive idiot well out of his depth.
21. Flip Flopper
kareem ,   Nola   (03.26.11)
so it was bad when it was happening in egypt, now it's all good
22. Israel, it's all going
ג 'ון הנביא   (03.26.11)
down as prophesied. Get ready to lock and load! IT IS WRITTEN!
23. #19 Yossef, your romance with Salma is over
(03.26.11)
Yet you do not understand that Arabs cannot be trusted Like all other appeasers you do not learn any lessons and no facts can change your mind
24. To 21 the answer is simple: Stability
The Dude   (03.26.11)
The reason why the coup in Egypt was viewed as bad, is simply put for all the faults of Mubarak (and there were many that he will pay for now), he kept the stability. Egypt grew economically, it was at peace, rights for women while small were on the increase (like a 10% decrease in female genital mutilation!) and so on. He was a bad person, but this was more of an issue of a person who was corrupt, not someone trying to actively screw over other countries. In the case of Assad, he is fully trying to attack and destroy Israel, swallow Lebanon whole, and in general is acting as a vassal state for the new Persian empire. There is nothing positive about Assad, he is just evil, but not as indignant as Nasrallah or Ahmadinejad.
25. What's new? Amnesty and HRW are supported by Arab oil, and..
Ariel   (03.26.11)
...they don't report on SArabia, and Betselem and Gush Shalom' and Iesh Gvul and Shalom Achshav don't want us to know where they get their money from' but some are known as receiveing it from Ramallah. So don't be surprised by these people's double standards and hidden agenda.
26. The UN Human Rights Council, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty
Annie   (03.26.11)
International, to name only three prominent names, are nothing but cynical entities whose eagerness is no to achieve human rights, but rather to advance Islamism in the world.
27. If we give back terroritories after being attacked,
Sima ,   Israel   (03.26.11)
the message we are giving the world is that, "Oh, it's just a game. We don't really care that they tried to wipe us off the face of the earth, and not only did they not succeed, but we won some of their land." We are willing to give all these lands back for the sake of peace. But why? Aren't there consequences to actions?
28. Israeli "human rights" NGOS only paid by the EU
Danny   (03.26.11)
to criticise Israel.
29. Why, Why Why we consider them danger
Rehavam ,   Israel   (03.26.11)
olny because they extrimly poore anedutated and opprest? I bet they 3 times more dangerous whan they wealthy, educated and live in relative democracy. Why are we so dumb?
30.  # 29 The PA over the years
JTP   (03.26.11)
has been giver BILLIONS of $ by the internation community. Where did it go? To the people? No, it went into Swiss bank acounts and to purchase weapons. Please don't be so naive. The PA has turned every offer made to them to form a State. Do you now why? Simple, they want all Jews out of the Middle East, they want you dead! Please open your eyes and see the word for what it is. There is good and evil in the world and it is plain too see if you look.
