31. Ceasefire number....?? anyone remembering updated count?
Joe ,   Canada   (03.27.11)
32. This is an excellent proposal. Which will be next?
Omega   (03.27.11)
More proposals are welcomed. Respecting and being sensitive to each others concerns are paramount to being able to negotiate, in all decensy of course. Economic conditions are being strained and to be able to find a way that's going to work would be advantageous to all. People are facing a time here in history where adjustments are going to have to be made in order to eliminate the heartache, the suffering and the pain associated with these impasses and the needed attention to look more closely at the way systems and programs are being run. It's been too long that this situation just keeps dragging itself out. Jews or Muslims, Israeli or Palestinian can't be categorized as a whole by the actions of a few, but the few still should be held accountable. Extremist views on either side do nothing but hamper the process. In cases where Zion is being represented in a way that it would be perceived as negative, it has to be explained to where it would be understood, like settlement issues. Illegal outposts are unacceptable. As it is, the settlement blocks have negotiations that are tied up with them for now. Genuine concern needs to be expressed. There are Palestinians that are quite glad to be living in Israel for the different kinds of benefits it offers. There are some ways that contradict what's Written.
33. Wait, didn't the "factions" break the last ceasefire?
William ,   Israel   (03.27.11)
These same Gazan "factions" (though they really take command from one point - Hamas) are declaring a ceasefire after they broke the last one and lobbed tons of ammunitions towards civilians. Then blamed Israel for even responding, as a provocation. Do they expect us to believe them now? What Gaza is really saying is "we're under a lot of pressure by Israel and we need a way out while saving face and our asses". I say, let's do a "Lebanon" negotiation. Pus the cease-fire discussions for another week and in the meantime kick the crap out of them hard. Maybe Haniyeh will make a public apology to Gaza the way Nasrallah did to Lebanon.
34. #5 - which barrage of rockets from Gaza are you talking abou
William ,   Israel   (03.27.11)
the ones this week, or the week before, or the week before, or the week before. Sure, somewhere in there is probably your so-called "assassination" of a terrorist who approached the border fence with an RPG or to place a bomb. So sad Israel had to kill him for planting a bomb - they should have just risked a whole platoon to arrest him...per a non-existent human rights policy which Leftists refer to when lambasting Israel but never actually producing proof of. You see, dog, in war, all military personnel are a valid target. That goes for the Hamas scum hiding behind a Gazan family all the way to the schmuck acting as "foreign minister" of a party that is not legitimate anymore and seen as terrorists in the US and EU. Perhaps you missed that wonderful speech by Haniyeh who stated that everyone in Hamas, from clerk to policeman to fighter, IS Hamas.
35. #16 - Egypt is in unheaval, ur in no position to do a thing
William ,   Israel   (03.27.11)
Stop speaking as if Egypt actually matters anymore. When you had a secure govt, it was one thing. Now you have an insecure situation where many groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood, are acting opportunistically, and the military is trying to keep the country from falling apart. The last thing the military brass would do is lift a finger against Israel. No one needs the headache, and certainly, the Egyptians don't need the Hamas/Iran headache of Gaza either. Israel can go in and smack Hamas around for a couple of weeks and all Egypt will do is threaten her but do nothing. Remember, we have a hotline between Jerusalem and Cairo.
36. Relax, Hamas, IJ, PRC are in hiding...
William ,   Israel   (03.27.11)
they're only calling for a cease-fire so they can come out, do some shopping at the new Gaza mall, grab a shower, do some laundry, before retiring to their bunker under the Gaza hospital (using patients as human shields)....
37. Hamas ceasefire !!!
Joe Charlap ,   Jerusalem   (03.27.11)
What Hamas dont seem to grasp is that our strikes are only retaliation against their's, but if they dont attack us with rockets we certainly will not initiatte any attacks against them, but they dont understand the dynamics. We are just defending ourselves Mr Haniyeh- get it!!!
38. #5 seamongrel - that's a good questions
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.27.11)
Instead of hiding in the USA, why not come on over and find out ?? Kibbitzers are a dime a dozen, your type isn't worth 2 cents a thousand All talk, no gumption !! Now that you've ended your bit of nonsense, go back to playing pocket pool with yourself
39. #16 NON-OBSERVER
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.27.11)
Of course, they invited you to the meeting Even if Israel were to accept, Hamas would continue firing, merely using an alias that they can attribute it to Fact is you're not very Observant or informed, just hot air making hoises
40. This Is A KadfiDuck Twist
Kent ,   Canada   (03.27.11)
And Barak the chicken dung will abide. Dont for get the Family who perished by their hands Barak, the little baby with a stab in the heart and little boy with a slashed throat! But then its not any of your family, IS IT?
41. the last HUDNA cease fire didn't work ....
Galut ,   Selah   (03.27.11)
what is this called ?... Hudna practice ? and when this fails another hudna pactice...? How big is a grain of salt? a grain of salt is worth more than Hamas word of honor
42. Cease fire will come after mr. Hamas
USA   (03.27.11)
After israel Bombs the hell out of you.
43. Well, an offer like that is unlikely to be repeated:
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.27.11)
the spineless Israeli leaders should grab it with both hands!
44. Remind me again
Michael ,   Denmark   (03.27.11)
why the west's former BFF Gaddafi is getting bombs dropped on his fancy tent while the murderers in Hamas can prance around and act like little cry babies? Hamas and the PA are the same side of the coin. They both demand an ethnic cleansed state. And the west bows down before them. How can politicians just sit back and accept this? The last time someone was allowed to say "No Jews allowed here" we got a world war on our hands. F*** Hamas, the sick horse they rode in on and their pathetic loser leaders. They can have their ceasefire in hell for all I care.
45. what ever is in their own best interest
Levi ,   Los Angeles   (03.27.11)
they do what is in their interest. If some one would actually read the koran, they would understand their military strategy, it is written there. We should demand Shalit back, and that they should permit us to investigate smuggling tunnels before we agree to a cease fire, and remember, it is only a cease fire!!
46. There will be peace when Israel has destroyed Hamas
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (03.27.11)
.. and when Israel has dismanlted the BIG FAT LIE OF "PALESTINE" and ANNEXED Judea and Samaria and Gaza and expelled the anti-Semitic Arab imperialists and invaders from our land. Israel should withhold fire first when all enemies of Israel have left their earthly existence.
47. Hamas almost make me laugh
zionist forever   (03.27.11)
They fire rockets - we respond. They blow up a bus in Jerusalem - we respond. Hamas then offer us a ceasefire if we stop responding. We have been playing this game for years now. We need Cast Lead 2 to smash Hamas to such an extent they will not be a threat for a long time. Last time Cast Lead was turned from a potential victory into a loss thanks to Barak, Livni and Olmert. It was all going great, the army were well on their way to achieving their goals and the casualties were minimal. The problem was it took place in the middle of an election campaign and Likud were way out in front in all the polls and everybody had their campaigns on hold during Cast Lead. Solution Barak & Livni ( both of whom have their eyes on the premiership ) convinced Olmert into calling for a unilateral ceasefire and pulling out all the troops despite the fact the IDF wanted another week or so. Unfortunately though election campaigns took priority so Hamas came out of it weakened but not smashed. We need Cast Lead 2 which we will allow the army to run from start - finish without any politics getting in the way. Considering Obama & the Europeans already hate us we dont have much to loose in terms of image so lets consider the security of Israeli's and not what Obama would want.
48. stop stealing land
L’joz ,   Jerusalem   (03.27.11)
There can be no peace until Israel stops stealing Palestinian land and gives back the land that they have stolen since the 1967 way.
49. Ceasefire once Hamas is destroyed...
Jackson ,   Melbourne   (03.27.11)
50. All this yada yada smart advice
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.27.11)
Please, when you so wisely offer your advice on what Israel "should do," indicate how many Israelis will die in the process. Cast Lead 2? Assassinations? Do nothing? Try to negotiate? The government will tally up the numbers and pick the solution which saves the most Israeli lives. I am sure a lot of experts are doing it right now, but the answer is obvious: take the cease fire.
51. Hamas
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (03.27.11)
Must NOT be allowed to initiate violence when it wishes and then call for a cease fire when it suits them. They should be thrashed into submission so that they understand our rules of the game. After all we do not seek violence nor do we initiate it, but things cannot go on as usual.
52. #19
observer ,   Egypt   (03.27.11)
in 1956, Israel rushed to annex Sinai, the second day Egypt redeployed its forces to the front line of the battle of Portsaid against collaborators British and French armies. Israel was kicked out. in 1973, Israel was saved by the USA who promised the Egyptians to get all their land back by peace negotiations if they stop the war in a way that will save the faces of the Israeli leaders. Israel was kicked out. Egypt got all of its land back plus 2 billion Dollars/year from the USA. do you want to hit a score of three kickouts?
53. observer Egypt no 52
JUDAH THE LION   (03.27.11)
Hey non observer, why you twisting things. In 1956,the British & the French put pressure on Israel & Egypt to withdraw a certain milage,Israel gave in to the demand of the British & French. The French & the BRitish have stabbed Israel at the back. What about YOM KIPPUR WAR 1973,you forgot Israel was only few KM from Cairo, your THIRD ARMY was under the mercy of the ISRAELI DEFENCE FORCES & UNDER THE MERCY OF OUR HERO AREIL SHARON.You also forgot when the Egyptian have asked for ceasefire, and the USSR have threaten Israel they will intervene, and nearly THIRD WORLD WAR was going to happen,
54. 16:Israel is committed to ceasefire
LION OF ZION   (03.27.11)
Even your Coward Preseident the late Gamal Abdul Nasser had warned Israel in 1967,what happened,HMMM Egypt been F&&$ED within one or two days.
55. Oh, the little mind games that they play....
!sraeli   (03.27.11)
They start the firing and then state that they won't fire at us, if we don't fire at them, as if we started the whole thing. What childish jokers. they should grow up! All they have to do is not fire at all, and nothing will happen to them.
56. #50; Michael, HOW NAIVE
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (03.27.11)
When has Hamas, or really any Arab group honored a ceasefire? The best that has ever happened is the "shell game". Where one or two groups say they will honor a ceasefire, while other groups continue to attack, presumably we are to believe they have no control of the other group? So in reality there has never been a true ceasefire, so what's the point? Even that lame excuse doesn't fly. Why? Because it means either they are liars, or they can't control their own people. Then they cannot enforce e ceasefire, so why talk with them at all? So if the goal is to save Israeli lives, then brute force is what's needed. Because after operation "Cast Lead" rocket fire while not completely halted was vastly reduced. So clearly what works isn't talking, but attacking with overwhelming force. In addition, it's well known that all ceasefires were simply used by Hamas to rearm and fortify their positions. If Hamas wants a ceasefire, it's only because they have ulterior motives that are harmful to Israel.
57. #56: A "naive" cease fire ...
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.27.11)
with strength is better than an endless war. Think also of the separation of populations and defensible borders which can be put in place (a wall?) to assure no more shooting. Since when are Gazans a real threat? They are a nuisance with the Kassams, but a real threat? Also, if they smell a better life when the shooting stops, maybe develop a middle class, there might be a chance some of them will like it, not? Yes, hoping for peace and quiet is naive, always naive.
58. #53 stand of the Israelis was very weak to the extent that
observer ,   Egypt   (03.27.11)
Kissinger persuaded Meir not to fly to the US for begging or blackmailing Pres. Nixon. Shortly later, American intelligence had signs that Israel had put its Jericho missiles, which could be fitted with nuclear warheads, on high alert. Israel blackmailed the USA by threatening to nuke civilian populations of Cairo and Damascus. within three days a tremendous United States airlift to Israel was in action. Over 2.800 Israelis had been killed, at least 7,500 had been wounded, and some 500 had become POWs. if the US had experienced equivalent losses in the Vitnam war, it would have suffered 200,000 American dead- a figure four times the actual number. West of the Suez Canal, 50 Israeli tanks stepped 100 km from Cairo versus 500 Egyptian artillery and an army of anti-tank missiles. The stand of the Israelis was very weak to the extent that after less than a year Israel pulled back leaving a strip east of Suez Canal and in 1982 Israel left Sinai altogether. Der Spiegel, 5 November 1973: "General Yitzhak Rabin had announced that his country had military plans for all eventualities, including the occupation of the North Pole. But it seems that the sweeping Egyptian onslaught at midday on 6 October had not been included among Israeli 'eventualities'. For this oversight, they paid a heavy price."
59. #58 NON - OBSERVER
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.28.11)
You're just parroting what you said on 12/31/10 Let's be candid, you never saw anything and know even less The fact of the matter is that you plagiarized virtually all the contents of your posts, with the exception of the parts you intentionally left out
