31. 18 months?
Matthew   (03.28.11)
Arab or Jew, or if you're convicted of kidnapping (not to mention all the crimes he was convicted of) you should get a lot more than 18 months. Kidnapping is a class 1 felony in the US. Israel is always rather soft of dirtbag criminals, whatever their race/religion.
32. Unfortunately, Tzvi probably didn't do it.
sk ,   USA   (03.28.11)
One can't expect a Jew from Yehudah or Shomron to care about implementing the second mitzvah.
33. @25
H.E ,   Palestine/ USA   (03.28.11)
you want to know why? because no matter how much things you build and try to convince yourselves that the land is yours and that you finally have a place to settle comfortably...the war is not over. Palestinians are still occupied..houses are still bulldozed...ppl are still being taken as prisoners...ppl r still hungry and never got the chance to finally settle comfortably..israeli's tend to forget that the war is still going on with all their luxuries and fun..yet palestinians are reminded every morning of the war they were born in and contunue to live throu...to palestininas this is a war..to israels this is a conflict..if isreali's killed arabs in war would they be put thro trial? no. becuse war is war...n ppl r going to die.
34. Ans. to #25 Brian Cohen
Jerrold Cohen ,   Seal Beach, USA   (03.28.11)
They don't get jailed because they get shot to death before they make it to jail. Brian, since when do you think Palis escape the law? What planet are you from?
35. Justice should be blind to race/religion but humans are not
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (03.28.11)
Israel must set a higher example since they are in over all control even in PA semi controlled areas. Its human nature to want to support those who you believe are on your side even when their methods make you sick. The continued growing of the settlements is the root cause but to condemn them would strike at the heart of the Zionist movement and the 2000yr old dream.
36. no evidence
Lila ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.28.11)
As the reporter for Maariv whose car was stoned by the Arabs - and when he reported it, the arrested Arab claimed HE was attacked by the Maariv reporter, so is this case. The Arabs know we are so sick, so delusional, so crazy, that we also believe their lies, and presto! the victim becomes the aggressor. The only reason for conviction in this case is that he is the son of Orit Struck.
37. Kapo's are back, this time very zelaous !
2Mad ,   צרפת   (03.28.11)
Once again, someone is sentenced to prison - on sole basis of contradicting testimonials. Where's gone "innocent until proven guilty" concept ? I mean real, material proof designing perpetrator. No gut-feeling, nor vocalizations of some agenda-driven group. Does "Justice" still exist somewhere ? Even if accused bears a misfortune of being a Jew ?
38. Great... We're becoming more & more like our enemy
Tahl   (03.28.11)
I feel nothing but shame and disgust over this hate crime by a hooligan settler. Thanks to this idiot and others like him who exercise "price tag", we are gradually losing our moral edge and become more and more like those terrorist Palestinians. We have enough of a hard time with the world's biased media against us - this would make things even harder to explain. Still, I do hope this incident is a fluke and does not represent settlers and Jews in general. I want to believe we are still morally superior to terrorists.
39. Ridiculous punishment for this nasty individual!
!sraeli   (03.28.11)
What kind of trash tortures a young boy and then kicks a newborn goat. He's a really sick psychopath and should be put away for a very long time!!!
40. Ah, those racist apartheid Aussies and Jerrold...ur so right
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (03.28.11)
You're so right, Kim. I should move to Australia and live in your racist bubble, where you successfully stole an entire continent from its owners. Kim - your crimes certainly did pay off handsomely, no? I mean, you are an Aussie settler living on stolen Aboriginal land. And look at your standard of living! Why shouldn't we Israelis use your Aussie model of settlement apartheid and conquest? It worked for you. And today you have real peace with the Aborigines. No, Kim. You foreign meddlers are the real barrier to peace. You keep telling the Palestinians not to negotiate with us, and they listen to you. And as for you, Jerrold the pseudo-marxistleninist apologist for Palestinian terrorism - no, unfortunately they don't all get shot and many of them do escape the law. Come on, Jerrold, you're the California settler beach bum living on stolen land and trying to tell people half way around the world how to live their lives. Jerrold Cohen - move back to where your ancestors came from and get off of stolen native American land! Oops, sorry Jerrold, looks like you're going to have to move "back" to Israel...
41. #33 H.E. Palestinian
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (03.28.11)
You poor deluded fool, buying into the vicious propaganda of your leaders. Legally - the whole of what was Palestine (including what became Jordan) was decredd as a Jewish Homeland at the 1920 San Remo Conference and signed on later that year by Chaim Weizmann and the Arab leader Emir Faisal. This was the Treaty of Sevrew. In the 'thirties (1936 I believe) Britain, who had the mandate out here, took the eastern part of Palestine - i.e. all of Palestine east of the Jordan River - and created the state of Jordan, putting a Saudi Sheikh on the throne. this was to be a homeland for the Palestinian Arabs, and no Jew would be allowed to live there. In 1947 the U.N. Drew upthe partition plan which further divided the Land of Israel - still called Palestine by the Jews but not by the Arabs (no self-respecting Arab in those days whould call himself a Palestinian) . Now- here's the really interesting part: the Jews accepted the plan but THE ARABS DIDN'T AND REFUSED TO SIGN the agreement. Therefore, since an agreement needs to both/all parties to sign, the Partition Plan NEVER BECAME LAW. Got it. Nothing has since transpired to repeal the 1920 Treaty of Severs agreement on the Land of Israel. So, all you Palis and Israel apologists, get real. This is documented history. Every square inch of what the world likes to call the Occupied Territories, but what real Jews prefer to call Judah and Shomron, are an integral, legal part of Eretz Yisrael. You might wonder why your 22 Arab allies have not come to your aid in the way Jews of the world came to the aid of the fledgling Israel. Well - news for you - it suits them to keep you in refugee camps and use you as political pawns. You Palis have neither the guts nor the gumption to make anything of yourselves but just whine and hold out your hands.
42. That is it? Kidnapping and no real jail time?
Josh   (03.28.11)
If the judge really did find this to be a kidnapping and not a citizens arrest, then the sentence is a mockery of justice and show racism not righteousness reins in Israel. If the judge is in doubt about calling it kidnapping, then don't convict, but if the judge convicts, the prison time is no where near enough. Torah gives the death penalty for kidnapping and Israel gives this dati man convicted of kidnapping nothing more than a slap on the wrist. Say it aint so!
43. Brian Cohen ,
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.28.11)
I answered your Qs but my answer unfortunate got censored because I stated some well-known but important facts .
44. Yeahh, I'm afraid that's just not a long enough sentence
Cookie ,   Israel   (03.28.11)
Hardly a deterrent is it. That's a green light for Looney people to kidnap and abuse Arabs.
45. Sure Salma, all we know are the facts, ma'am
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (03.28.11)
Fact: The Palestinians refuse to come to the negotiating table, using "settlement construction" as an excuse. Fact: If a peace treaty were offered today, Abu Mazen would not sign it, since he does speak for Gaza. Fact: Palestinian elections are years overdue, and are not expect to be held this year or next. They can't, because Hamas won't agree to them. Fact: There are 2 Pal governments, one in Ramallah and one in Gaza. The elected government in Gaza rejects the peace process and its leaders say they will "never" make peace with Israel. Fact: The Palestinian Authority under the rule of either Hamas or Fatah still pays reward money to the families of suicide bombers who have murdered hundreds of Israelis. Fact: Hero posters of suicide bombers are still distributed to Palestinian youth. Fact: There is a Palestinian school in Dehaishe where suicide bombers are honored with giant wall posters of the killers. Yea yea yea....facts shmacts. The fact is that the peace process is stuck because the Palestinians refuse to negotiate. "Construction" is just the excuse.
46. #45 Brian Cohen
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.28.11)
The big fact that I believe is that the Zionists occupying Palestine, all Palestine, from Rosh Hanikra to Rafah.........for the 2 governments you are talking about in my opinion and the opinion of the majority of Palestinians they are just Just a mere decoration of a difficult reality , but I have great feeling that the future will be brighter for us.
47. So Salma, are you ready to compromise like we are?
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (03.28.11)
Gosh - Palestine runs from Rosh Hanikra to Rafah? So what's your bright future? Two states for two peoples? Or a dream of a single state and perpetual war? And isn't it you Arabs who are still occupying parts of the original Jewish homeland? My opinion is that we're both right, and we both have to compromise and settle for less than what we'd ideally like. My problem is - you Arabs don't seem to be willing to do that and want a single country. I can't see that happening peacefully at all. Especially if your leaders continue to boycott the peace talks.
48. Shame on both mOTHER and sON.
Good Boy   (03.28.11)
By the way the "son" seems to be a bit strange. is he fully in control ??
49. BRIAN COHEN: Do you or do you not condemn ths haneous crime
yehoshua ,   galos peoples front   (03.28.11)
????? &-or this sad excuse for a prison sentence??? enough dodging.
50. #46 you talk just like the arabs of 48
(03.28.11)
they too thought that "it won't be long now before things will look up and our arabs brethren will help us get rid of the zionists". They're still waiting. as will you. your entire struggle in the last 60 years is made out of mere belief, and not actual abilities. and that's sad, to be honest.
51. Hey H.E. If it's war....
Elieazer ,   center ,Israel   (03.28.11)
How come Arabs only kill civillian comuters and sleeping families? Before you go claiming the land of Israel for yourselves why don't you look into Masada, the Arch of Titus, These artifacts explain from where came palistine. You get reminded every morning of your war while you live here in Israel. The terrible country that wont refuse you medical care. Be a sick Palestinian in Jordan and die in front of the hospital. You want to cry about being impovershed, thats your fault if you want a higher standard of living you have to work for it, mybe if instead of concentrating on Jewish people and thier higher level of comfort, you folks should try to obtain it for yourselves.
52. #9
Rachel   (03.28.11)
I agree the action of this man against the Arab teenager was disgusting. But you know what's a lot more disgusting? Breaking into someone's home in the middle of the night and stabbing two parents and their three children, including an infant to death. And the typical antiIsrael posters like Max,Salma, and Kim, and others who are so upset about the *light* sentence this man was given were awful silent about the horrific murder of the Fogel family. At least he was given some jail time, and his crime was denounced, and he won't be made into a hero like the terrorist murderers in Palestinian society.
53. Hate crime
daz ,   uk   (03.28.11)
This individual is very dangerous and should have got at least 5 years. But with a mother like he's got no wonder he ended up like he did, a total loser!!
54. @41
daz ,   uk   (03.28.11)
The San Remo Conference decided on April 24,1920 to assign the Mandate [for Palestine] under the League of Nations to Britain. I think your getting mixed up with the Balfour Declaration.
