ask them the explain the digestive system and see how many of them can. I spent shabbat explaining to a 17 year old how the circulatory system works. He had no idea what lungs were or where the heart was. (we were working from a book his parents got him... yes not all Haredim are ignoramuses. But their education system trains them to be so.
4. Haven't they..........
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (03.29.11)
.........got anything better to do? Like working for a living for instance?
5. How come they are not in Yeshiva?
Talula ,   Israel   (03.29.11)
or the IDF - how come they find time for all this nonsense? Cool photos though. Looks like a cut and paste job LOL.
6. Talkbacks 1 - 5 are disgusting....
Andy ,   Washington, DC   (03.29.11)
I am secular. But such disrespect for a basic Jewish tradition such as respecting the dead is awful. Shame on all of you. It is just as awful to see traditional Jews disparage seculars. We need to unite on issues we can. This ought to be one of them.
7. Secular Israelis are as gullible as they come
(03.29.11)
They trustingly believe the Antiquities Authority "experts" that they're not Jewish bones when it’s well known that they are. If they wouldn't be Jewish bones, Ynet and other media stations would have reported the daily demonstrations going on there and in other Jewish cities for months and months regarding the shameful excavation of these bones.
8. Dem Bones
Jez ,   Israel   (03.29.11)
I am not haredi, but what if the bones were Jewish? Do we distinguish between bones in Poland? If there is a chance they are Jewish we owe it to the person to hold a proper funeral and a proper resting place.
9. Finally Jaffa pigs can rest in peace.

10. Hey show some respect please!!
Ester   (03.29.11)
What haredim did is a very nice thing and i dont get why you guys write such things.. shame on you!

13. Once they were 3 little piggies & one big bad wolf !
jo   (03.29.11)
What's a few pig bones among pigs. Our haredim are behaving more and more like pagans.Empty heads, empty time, empty results. And they call themselves Jews? Just wondering where they are going to burry dinosaur bones if found near the Wall during excavation?
14. Kosher Pigs
eddie ,   london UK   (03.29.11)
If Haredim make enough noise, then pigs are kosher. If they make enough noise, then conversions are not valid. But the non Jewish bones buried with pigs and crosses, get posthumous conversion to Judaism, haredi style.
15. While the rest of us are working and serving in the IDF
Avi ,   Israel   (03.30.11)
Seems that the free loaders have nothing better else to do. Draft the parasites in to the army and make them contribute to society as they obviously have to much time on their hands.
16. mixing politics with halakha?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (03.30.11)
since when is it permissible to give a jewish burial to a body that is probably not jewish? would the "atra kadisha" allow the burial of PROPER CONVERTS, whose conversion they questioned, in a jewish cemetery? but yet they do bury remains of ancient non-jews (what jews would have pigs to be buried with?) as if they were jewish. (their example of dog bones falling amongst graves is specious, because jews, and moslems, would have kept dogs for herding sheep, but not pigs.) if there is a safeq (doubt) about whether a person is jewish, shouldn't the leniency in judgement (le'haqel) be in favour of the living, and not the long dead? somehow in this case it certainly smells more like politics than halakha!
17. #6 Yeah well, you don't have to tolerate them
Israel   (03.30.11)
so really, until you do, you should keep shtum.
18. ORA, Union OK, but no work,no srvice,no loyalty to the State
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.30.11)
19. #10
Golan ,   Modiin   (03.31.11)
what they did was disparage the state, slander Jews, falsely accuse archeologists of dishonesty, and all this for politics. Disrespectful? What they did was dishonor the dead by denying their true identity in order to vilify Zionism which has nothing to do with this.
20. 18 Michael Thanks to them we still ..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.31.11)
know after more than 3000 years ,the authentic meaning of Judaisme. Would you like to be judged by what you are NOT doing?I don t think so. You don t need to be religious if you don t want, but at least be a bit more open minded to orthodoxe people .There are many things we can learn from them.Have a nice day.
21. Pagan bones
Yehudit ,   US   (03.31.11)
the Hareidi have no respect for the advancements of science, and their Rabbis will never accept the conclusions of scientists, because it would diminish their power in the eyes of their gullible followers. These bones were not found to be conclusively Jewish bones, especially if pig bones were found with them, yet the hareidi continue to believe otherwise. The bigger picture here is that Israelis need to enact a separation of synagogue and state, and keep these Ultra-Orthodox nuts out of power and politics.
22. Burials
mark ,   canada   (03.31.11)
Sounds like a lot of unknown pagans got a decent burial. I was hoping for that all along.
