1. He's refusing the $ the same as he
Ron ,   US   (03.29.11)
gave up heading PA 3 years ago. His talk is cheap and of no value. His peers will throw him out first before losing their graft. Such is their "honor"
2. Yaaaa Rab !
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.29.11)
If it's true... Abu Mazen's my new hero : )
3. #2 Salma
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (03.29.11)
He'll lead you all the way to the bottom of the pit, Salma. Whatever agreement he makes with Hamas - if indeed it gets to that - will backfire as Hamas uses it to take control of the PA. Then where will you Palis be? Back in the mire. If you think hatred and terrorism are what's best for you - and nothing you've ever done has proven otherwise - then more fool you. What a pack of losers.
4. Sure they dont need USA help anymore.
Dyslexic..... ,   Israel.........   (03.29.11)
Abbas and his cabinet of morons have taken as much as they need for themselves and left the Palestinian people with nothing. All there money are in Swiss banks.
5. plan
eric ,   israel   (03.29.11)
this is part of a plan to have a unified, moderate-appearing Pali coalition, with minimal terror, in prep for the Sept diplomatic push for statehood at the UH. this will likely work. what happens after is anyone's guess. stay tuned...
6. As if Obama would cut off aid .....
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (03.29.11)
Congress might cut off aid but the Obama misadministration & the State Dept. ???? Not likely. Abbas could spit in Obama's face & Obama would say it's raining. Remember, Hillary Clinton thinks Assad is a reformer - just reflect on that a moment. And, Samantha Powers is one of his closest advisors - you know Samantha Powers, she's the one who wants the US to invade Israel to establish a Palestinian State. This Libya misadventure is a bad precedent as well. One thing, though. Israel should have rejected US aid first. By the way, can anyone figure out why Netanyahu is still talking about a ''Peace Process'' ?????
7. Could put Damascus leaders against Brotherhood for control
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (03.29.11)
of Hamas. The Damascus Hamas leaders will be against this move since it will cost them Iranian/Syria funding but Muslim Brotherhood see unity and elections at better option at this point. Even if there is a PA state they will have a make a deal with Israel at some point, so this is more a battle over the 5 key settlements and Jordan border control.
8. It's time for the US to stop funding dictators
No peace - ,   No aid to Gaza   (03.29.11)
9. Rather than cut off aid to Palestinians .....
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (03.29.11)
Obama will suddenly transform Hamas into ''moderates'' - I mean, really, if you can support Fatah & call them moderates, something that turns reality on it's head, he won't have any problem doing the same for Hamas. Obama & the rest of the Orwellian Leftists already see the Muslim Brotherhood as OK to participate in a new Egyptian democracy. One of Obama's advisors even called Hezbollah ''moderate'' ....... Hillary's line about Assad being a ''reformer'' says it all. Abbas knows Obama won't call his bluff. Neither will the EU. Instead the International Community of Hypocrites will do the most amazing intellectually dishonest mental gymnastics to support "Palestinian unity'' ..... We live in genuinely Orwellian times.
10. you don't really believe this, do you?
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (03.29.11)
11. Palestine will be created
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (03.29.11)
We should be praying by now to Abbas don't go ahead with the pressure to create Palestine in September. If they have the vote of General Assembly, Palestine will be recognized and our actions will bring more isolation. Next step: since we are invading an independent country, economic ties with many countries will be in danger and we Israelis will not be able to travel freely to many countries. We should talk with Palestinians and make a deal before September.
12. Abbas giving up aide ?! That will be the
DT ,   TA Israel   (03.29.11)
day ! US is dumb for giving it in the first place
13. Palestinian Return to Democracy - Good for Israel...
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.29.11)
Hamas was allowed to run in the internationally supervised and US & Israeli encouraged elections, and they won a 70% majority legally. Since then Hamas has shown it's moderate side by downgrading Fatwas against the clothing of women lawyers & consumption of alchohol to mere suggestions, and has for the first time in history turned to Israel and asked to sit down and negociate. Fatah was pressured by the US & Israel, who feared no peace process could come from a Hamas government, to retroactively illegalize the Hamas presence in the government and to used violent means to take over all PA designated territories (the bloody coup worked in the West Bank but failed in Gaza). Since then we have been dealing with an autocratic regime of the Fatah terrorist organization and have created for the Israeli mind an illusionary "peace partner" that does not exist. A return to the democracy in the PA will have its effects on both terrorist organizations, Fatah and Hamas, and will force our leaders to face reality and come to terms with whom we have "over there" to forge a peace process or, if needed, to forgo it. But we have to wake up from this delusional dream and the reintroduction of democracy into the PA is just the right move to wake us up.
14. #3 Madeleine
osam ,   palestine   (03.29.11)
the only one who is going to drive the region to the bottom of the hell is your leadership whom trying their best to undermine the peace process, abbas made his optimum efforts to make a historical peace and reconciliation between both people in the mean time Netanyahu is buzy on appeasing the settlers by granting them the right to construct more and more illegal houses on palestinians land , which led to collapsing the negotiations
15. To: No. 13
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.29.11)
"Arabs" and "democracy" are mutually exclusive concepts. Moreover, the ersatz "Palestinians" spend as much time squabbling internally as they do anything else. They cannot agree on the time of day. I do agree with you that Fatah as a so-called "peace partner" for Israel is simply unthinkable. Wasn't it the Al Aksa Martyrs' Brigade that claimed responsibility for the massacre of the Fogel family? They are, after all, Fatah's "military" wing. I wouldn't set too much store with Hamas, either. Their very existence hinges on the complete rejection of the right of the State of Israel to exist. They're not about to put themselves out of a job. But your whole treatise rests on the ability of Arab terrorist rabble to adopt democracy. That just isn't going to happen.
16. To: No. 14
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.29.11)
Why has Fatah refused to repudiate its charter, which calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jews? Why has Fatah refused to acknowledge the right of the State of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland? Why has Fatah refused to recognize the integral nature of the State of Israel as a Jewish state? Those are a basic quid pro quo. By the way -- Judea and Samaria are non-sovereign territory. Israel acquired Judea and Samaria in the course of fighting a defensive war. Israel therefore has every right to build and settle there. The Arabs who presently reside there are citizens of Jordan. Once Israel annexes Judea and Samaria -- which is inevitable -- its Arab residents will be repatriated to Jordan. That's your "Palestinian" state, by the way. Who cares if you change the name? In 1947, the Arabs rejected partition, and chose to go to war instead. Foolish mistake, but it was yours to make. You have to live with the consequences of your poor choices, which may not be pleasant. I remind you that the Arabs have rejected a two-state solution on two subsequent occasions, including one which would have awarded you 90 percent of the West Bank and East Jerusalem as a capital. You chose to start the second intifada instead. That didn't go all that well for you, but -- hey -- the ersatz "Palestinians" are not known for good decision-making. Three offers; three rejections. Just how many bites at the apple do you think you deserve? You are a vanquished people; six wars, seven decades of unremitting terror. You have only yourselves to blame for your situation. Take responsibility for your bad acts and for your stupid acts. Israel is not going to pay for your mistakes; you will have to learn to move on. Like I said -- look eastward to Jordan. That's where your best bet lies.
17. To: Terry at No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.29.11)
Obama cannot do it unilaterally -- the Department of Justice, the Department of the Treasury, the Commerce Department and the Department of Homeland Security have all defined Hamas as a terrorist organization. And even were Obama to try, that would be a sure ticket to impeachment. He doesn't have support in the House of Representatives and there are enough Democratic senators willing to cross the aisle to keep a leash on Obama.
18. Israel should immediatly proclaim
David ,   On this planet   (03.29.11)
It will never facilitate a connection on it's territory between the land west of the Jordan river and the land it's called the Gaza strip And if Egypt does not want to accept taking back Gaza The Mediterranean sea will
19. #17 Sarah B.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (03.29.11)
I'm only talking about Obama's position - this is how he'll spin any agreement (should it actually occur) between Fatah & Abbas. The State Dept. will lobby Congress making similar arguments. Believe me, the Orwellian rhetoric will make your head spin - they'll try to clothe this in ''peace'' BS, a way to re-start negotiations but Israel is blocking the talks .....blah, blah, blah. And don't think for a NY minute that the media won't play along. Just look at this Libya fiasco, all the BS about the Egyptian ''democracy'' movement - on both sides of the aisle.
20. Right move by Abu Mazen, Bibi statement
Esti ,   TA   (03.29.11)
is retarded. It is like fatach saying to likud make peace with us and not with israel beteinu... This is more of talk of the likes like Sarah B. than a sane politician..
21. Obama & Hilary now call Assad progressive
Iris ,   US   (03.29.11)
and a reformer - so Obama may well call Hamas and Fattah the same with a straight face too
22. Yawn . Tell me when a real story occurs
YC ,   left wing of chicken   (03.29.11)

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.29.11)
The State Department's anti-Israel bias is well-known. But Hillary is spread a little thin -- she's bucking for the Democratic nomination in 2012; she cannot risk taking a strongly pro-ersatz "Palestinian" stance, even if that is her natural inclination (and it is). We're on the brink of a major involvement in Libya that is going to prove to be a bloodbath. Qaddafi is not going to go quietly. Obama's popularity and approval ratings are already circling the bowl -- he cannot risk pushing the ersatz "Palestinian" issue, no matter how he spins it. All the discord and uncertainty throughout the Arab world has made a great many previously indifferent Americans recognize the value of the stable, democratic ally they have in Israel. That will strengthen Congress' hand, and all the lobbying by the State Department isn't going to change Congress' understanding of the American vox populi -- which, at this point, is looking at the Arab world and saying "A pox on all your houses!" Most importantly, blast polls taken specifically on the Israeli-ersatz "Palestinian" issues have revealed that when asked how they feel about an ersatz "Palestinian" state, more and more of grassroots America has gone from asking "Why not?" to asking "Why?" Support for Israel will climb; the ersatz "Palestinians" are going to be lumped in with the rest of the Arab world, which is not currently enjoying very much American popular support.
24. Most of the money comes from others
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (03.29.11)
The Palestinians receive about $5.5 Billion dollars per year, most from sources other that the USA. When compared to other rebuilding plans (i.e. The Marshall plan after WW2) the breakdown: "This is the equivalent of $1,330 per Palestinian. By comparison, the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe after World War II provided $272 per European (in today's dollars)." So again we see the Arab leaders trying to mislead the world. The Arabs would still get $55 Million per month from the Arab states, another $9 Million per month from the EU, with private groups sending millions of hidden dollars per month. But Abbas remarks are great for dramatic effect, right?
25. Yeah right
Danny   (03.29.11)
The Palestinians would remove their mouths from the international aid teat? Is that a flying pig?

28. ABBAS AND HANIYEH WANT A STITCH-UP
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (03.29.11)
If there were to be unity between Fatah and Hamas, where would that leave the Palestinian Arabs? They'd be the ruled and Fatah-Hamas would be their rulers. They simply do not understand democracy.Political parties are supposed to offer the people a choice, not carve up the goodies between themselves. When will a democratic opposition to Fatah and Hamas arise?Never if they have anything to do with it. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL
29. Mr Abbas
Texan   (03.29.11)

Gaza entities help each others liave Isral alone ,Time up Mr Abbas you need get to work maybe you can get you people work and develop , Time up ...
