31. 28 Sarah B - Capability Coalition and Cost
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (03.29.11)
In Libya, there was a multi-country coalition formed that had the capability and would not require $Trillions of US aid. Nor would the coalition require US boots on the ground. Nor would the US be doing or paying for the nation-building. The US is not the Planetary Police and can only do things when there is tons of cooperation, with others taking substantial parts of the risk and the costs. Those conditions do not apply to the other countries you mentioned. They equally do not apply in Bahrain nor in Syria, nor in Iran, nor in Yemen. Iraq I had such a coalition. Iraq II did not. Afghanistan only kinda has such a coalition. Somalia and Myanmar have no such coalitions and none appear imminent. One might appear, though for South Sudan - hard to say.

I wouldn't expect to much from somebody that quotes Obama.

I dont care. Bush is an idiot. Iraq never attcked us and there were no WMD. Obama is awesome.

That really is scraping the bottom of the barrel .... did you watch Obama's speech last night? Did you want to throw up, violently?

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.29.11)
Not a wise choice, for sure. His ratings plummeted overnight. Today, an embarrassing 26% of American voters think he's doing a good job. (I suspect most of them are collecting public assistance SSI / Disability. Most taxpayers aren't all that confident in Haj Obama's job performance.) Cameron -- 26% approval rating won't get you elected town dogcatcher; you know that!

Really? Then why is the president handing off to NATO (75% of which is funded and manned by the United States, including some of those relatives of yours?) Get a grip, Mark. There is no such thing as a "Libyan." There are around 130 tribes, most of them taking part in constantly shifting unstable "coalitions." Only about twenty-five of them really matter. Their loyalty -- as is the case throughout the Arab world -- is for sale to the highest bidder. My tax dollars at work? Oh, I don't think so. I'd rather my tax dollars get spent in the United States, benefiting Americans. In case you haven't noticed, our economy is not so healthy that we can afford to dump trillions of dollars on worthless causes such as Libya, while foreclosures on Americans continue to rise. Or don't you care?
37. Obama on the hook
Roy ,   Miami   (03.29.11)
Right. Look, the way you have to look at this attack on Libya is, it is one more thing that Obama is on the hook for. Colin Powell said you break it, you own it in cautioning President Bush about going into Iraq. So, think about the things Obama is now on the hook for. If oil prices go up, his anti-oil drilling. If we get a terror attack, his weakness in terms of the terror policies. If Egypt blows up and becomes a Muslim Brotherhood state, the fact that he encouraged that rebellion. If Libya resorts to ongoing violence, he's on the hook for that, of course for the economy. And you just have -- you have so many outcomes that can undo him. And I believe that he's taken the first step into quicksand.
38. Mark of Lewiston #23 2nd attempt
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (03.29.11)
The United States has not only turned a blind eye to dozens of atrocities in other countries, but has committed them as well. So far this year the US has killed more civilians in Afghanistan than have died in all the Arab-Israeli conflicts combined since 1974. That is a simple fact. As for sport, no I do not consider murder to be a sport, I am pointing out the fact that the rebels are as bad as Qaddaffy, and are at least likely to commit murder as the government forces. You on the other hand have been part of the cheering section for fascist Arabs in their attempt at genocide. When are you going to speak out against the genocide that the Muslims are carrying out against Berbers, Copts and Kurds?

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.29.11)
The Libyans haven't attacked us either, idiot! Aren't enough Americans dying in the quest to bring "democracy" to the Arabs -- who have no history of it, no experience of it, no knowledge of it and no desire for it? Obama is the worst president in United States history.
40. To: Gee at No. 38
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.29.11)
Kol ha'Kavod! Don't forget the massacres of the Khabyle people in Algeria, the Bahai and Zoroastrians in Iran and the genocide against animist blacks in Dharfur.

No, I missed it. I have no doubt it probably would have induced projectile vomiting.
42. To Mary #33.
Eran ,   Singapore   (03.29.11)
You write; "Bush is an idiot. Iraq never attacked us and there were no WMD. ;" Can't the same be said for Libya? Do you realize Kadafi gave up his nukes only after watching Iraq go down? So this dictator Gadafi is a pretty evil dude right?
43. No. 42 Eran
Mary ,   Wash.   (03.30.11)
For sure Gadafi is a pretty evil dictator. He is killing his people and they have no freedom or rights. He has to go, and Obama supports it.
44. #33..Mary....
Malone ,   Hfx   (03.30.11)
...Give your head a shake,Mary, see if it rattles..you have a couple of screws loose...
45. Sarah
Cameron ,   USA   (03.30.11)
You dare to imply that I approve of this Libyan plunge, or in general support the presidency of Obama? Shook I am.
46. Mary #43
Eran ,   Singapore   (03.30.11)
Didn't the Iraqi dictator killed his people and denied them freedom and rights. Obama is not awesome. He is gruesome.
