$4500-$5100 that is peanuts. You can't survive in Israel even if you earned that in a week. At 8 dollars a gallon of gas $75,000 for a decent car and $300,000 for a small house in the suburbs of Tel Aviv and you want to give these people what kind of life? The State of Israel should take its short hands and put them in its deep pockets if they want people to emigrate.
2. Live better in Israel!
Annie ,   Israel   (03.30.11)
I would PAY to keep living in Israel - and I moved here from the U.S! Any Jew living in a Muslim country should just get the hell out - it's like Jews who couldnt get out of Germany fast enough - what the hell are you even doing there? They are barbaric!
3. Living conditions in Israel
Ian ,   S   (03.30.11)
These poor people who will flee Tunisia will be promised the world from the government in Israel and will be relegated to extreme poverty !!! Israel is indeed very expensive to survive and let alone find a job that one can survive and have satisfaction in , mix that with rampant protexia and old fashioned Israeli mentality I pity them :-(

Your figures are way off. What exactly is a "decent" car in your opinion? Maybe not what is decent in the USA but an average car here costs about $35,000 new. As for houses - well I wish your figure were true. Who talks about houses here anyway? A used apartment in a city about 15km from Tel Aviv will set you back around $450,000. In Tel Aviv itself you can double that figure......

$75,000 for a decent car?....I'm sure there are decent cars for a quarter of that price. You can't survive on $5100 dollars a week?....Are you an emperor or what? Clearly you've never seen the good life in Tel Aviv.

How is one supposed to afford even a $35K car (double than the US for the same car) and an apartment for close to half a mil on a salary of around 2-3K net per month? If you have a way please let me know.
7. what are you talking about

10. Jews leave, Tunisia goes broke?
Heather Czerniak ,   Mississauga, Canada   (03.30.11)
Gosh, my husband and I are slated to move to Israel from Canada in June. What will happen to Canada after we leave? And what will happen to the US if Jews there decide to leave? This must mean that if all Diaspora Jews move to Israel, Israel will be rich overnight!
11. Tunisia just wants to keep it's targets
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (03.30.11)
The rise of Islamic fascism will remove the current government and then those Jews left are going to in extreme trouble. By all means bring them home NOW!
12. Come to Israel....
David Cohen ,   Florida   (03.30.11)
Where you can live in Ma'abarote and languish on the "periphery" as Qassem rockets land on your new "home"? Yes, the clearly "superior" life.
13. Tunisia decries Israeli call
Rachel ,   Arad, Israel   (03.30.11)
Gee, since when is Tel Aviv the only place to live in Israel? TA and Jerusalem are very expensive, but there really are other towns and cities in the country. Car? Ever hear of buses and trains in Israel? Does the average Tunisian even know how to drive? Forgot the medical coverage here? Big plus. $5,000 a year will help them get on their feet. After that, it's up to them.
14. WERY REVEALING !!!.

GOOD PEOPLE HAVE NOTHING AGAINST THAT BAD PEOPLE LEAVE THEM, BUT - BAD PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS SOMETHING AGAINST GOOD PEOPLE LEAVING THEM. Orao.Srbia.

16. Israel wants to replace their foreign workers with those
Eitan ,   TA   (03.31.11)
Tunisians, tunisians don't seem to buy it..
17. Tunisia should decry the mass flight of non-Jewish Tunisians
Baruch ,   Paris, France   (03.31.11)
Tunisia should "decry" the mass flight of its non-Jewish Tunisian Muslim Arab population. Tunisian youngsters are fleeing by the tens of thousands now that they have their "freedom" and they're flooding France. And nobody here needs them. We've got sky-high unemployment already!
18. Ashkenazim Looking For Farm Workers
World Citizen ,   the world   (03.31.11)
They don't want to get their hands dirty. After all they work in the government ministries and real estate. Get rid of the foreign workers. Bring in some low skilled Sephardim from the Middle East and voila!! The Ashkenazim have fruit, vegetables and bread on their tables and the foreign worker problem has been dealt with.
19. what a silly coment!
sohaib ,   UK   (03.31.11)
the barbaric its Israel when dealing with arabs and muslims both sides of the borders, with the recongnition of the entire humanitarian NGOs in the world or at least the ones really keeping an eye on the spoiled baby of the US. here is a thought for you, ask yourself how long the the jewish community lived in Tunisia, how many articles did you read about their hardship? and why just dont you go or ask any one from that region to give you a breife view on the life they lead in Tunisia? I'll bet you will be surprised Annie "the Civilised" from the US

21. Israel please do not cleanse Jews...
Daniel ,   UK   (03.31.11)
Israel please do not cleanse Jews out of Tunisia. There is a small community there elevating these synagogues and maintaining a presence in Tunisia. These ancient communities would be cleansed for ever were they all to leave.
22. They're living there ...
SK ,   Boston, MA   (04.01.11)
Jews have lived in North Africa for many centuries, far longer than Jews have lived in the United States. It's very nice that you are ready to welcome them but "what they are doing there" is living in the place where their ancestors are buried and where Jewish life has thrived for centuries. I completely understand if people want to come to Israel esp. at a challenging time but they have every right to stay in Tunisia. Maybe you should learn a little bit more about "mizrachim" and their history if you plan to stay in Israel for the long haul.
