1. Media is the one to blame
Rune F ,   Oslo Norway   (03.29.11)
The media here in Norway has made many Norewgians anti israel. If israelis have more talking time in Norwegian press so hopefully norwegians will be more positive towards Israel.I have sent so many pro Israel emails the 3 last years to the norwegian meidia ,But im only 1 man so i get tired
2. The upside down world
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (03.29.11)
In our upside down world generous, humanitarian Israel is demonized. This excellent article provides solid evidence of the true nature and character of the Jewish state.
3. Media will not publish truth, so WE must.
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (03.29.11)
Few stories favorable to Israel are published and people are believing the propaganda against Israel (which is, in reality, anti-Semitism). But PICTURES are more believable than words. I am convinced that a campaign must be launched to have concerned, ordinary citizens publish photos and videos on Facebook, YouTube, etc., showing Israel in a positive light. But, we need resources: access to photo libraries and royalty-free background music.
4. so what?

you dont need recognition for your good deeds, just keep on doing them...

Dallas ,   Canada   (03.29.11)
You can carry a Big Lie forward only for so long. Those on the high road such as Israel, although for a (long) time bear the yoke of unjust blame and condemnation, eventually will be vindicated, and those who perpetrate such lies will be duly exposed for what they are.
7. Sometimes the lack of coverage has a simpler explanation
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (03.29.11)
It's certainly true that media predisposed to bash Israel for the slightest reason will be averse to showing Israel in a better light. But even media that's less hostile will ignore these stories because they're not *locally* relevant. Washington media, for example, notes each departure of the well regarded fire and rescue unit of nearby Falls Church, VA to Haiti, Japan, etc. They'll cover the capture or death of each American civilian somewhere in the world, not so much of others. Israel is not a "local" story for most. And Israeli innovations, though they've made it into their everyday lives, tend to be invisible. The only reason the Israeli hospital in Haiti was covered was because it was the only one there - an oasis of salvation in a wasteland. THAT was the story.
8. So now
Jarda ,   Czech republic   (03.29.11)
let Palestinians go back to their homes. And happyend is done.
9. Ignoring Israel's Goodness
Bruria   (03.29.11)
Our own government is at fault for refusing to see that bad PR can take our country down like bomb attacks. Until our own stand up and tell the world media they are liars and inciting hatred it will continue.
10. :)
baubau ,   Romania   (03.29.11)
It's not necessary. Japan and the japanese know that the israelis are there with them in this tragic moment and they will never forget this. Hope that the relations between Japan and Israel will be even better, both military and economic.
11. Expecting trumpets to sound for you ?
Matt ,   UK   (03.29.11)
When you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
12. Matt #11 no trumpets

Tha Arab Peninsula is waiting for its true dwellers - the "palestinians". There is a lot of empty space there.
15. Trying to convince the world about Israel's good deeds...
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (03.29.11)
...it is a hopeless, lost cause! The western media and public opinion, all across the Americas and Europe, already have a very strong standing, a deep antipathy towards Israel, and nothing can reverse it. Israel is widely perceived as an agressive and arrogant country, where people are worried about colonizing another people's land - not to mention the all-to-frequent antisemitic feelings, lurking right beneath the surface in many cases. No matter how hard the Israeli govt and press try, the media war is irremediably lost, there's no chance any hasbarah effort will ever reverse it. We, Diaspora Jews, know the truth lies 180º opposite - but how much does are knowledge and support can change this picture? As long as the political and military status quo remains, Israel will have to learn in an increasingly pariah-like situation, with academic and business boycotts abounding etc etc. It is terribly sad and depressing, but it is the truth. Almost nobody likes Israel, some people despise her and some people hate her. Those of us, Diaspora Jews, that still care and support Israel, we are the only true friends Israel has in all the world.
16. Opportunistic goodness
Ibrahim Ibn Yusuf ,   Rosario, Argentina   (03.29.11)
The Israeli field hospital was not the only one in Haiti. An Argentinian field hospital was already operative before the Israelis arrived. Yet I don't see Argentinians moaning that the country's goodness is not reported. In fact, the Argentinian hospital was part of a permanent plan for helping Haitians, which was in place before the earthquake and continues to be in place many months after. There's a huge difference between this genuine goodness and the bogus, opportunistic Israeli goodness, which only shows during the short time that TV cameras focus on a catastrophee.
17. Good feedback
Brian M ,   West Chester, USA   (03.29.11)
9 thru 13: good feedback all round!! #11, you're right when you remind us of what Yeshua had to say. At the same time, why shouldn't we want the truth to be told? And it is a sad fact that everybody DOES--well, at least respect, and certainly toadies to, a bastard! I could not blame the Jewish people if they went psycho en masse; we'd all be dismayed (albeit not surprised) to see the world crawling to them as a result. Should Israel try feigning psychosis as an experiment? Maybe that should begin with shouting 'Liars!' at all the press who don't tell the whole story? At least it'll throw the world for a richly deserved loop.

20. Israel: Trying to buy indulgences
Leon   (03.30.11)
Israelis apparently think that by sending geld oversea that they can buy absolution for the abominations they commit against the non Jews in Israel and the Occupied West Bank. This is a very medieval concept resurected by the growing fundamental religous nationalism that is growing leaps and bounds in Israli culture. In Israel minister Ariel Attias says no Jew should have to live next to an Arab - but not a problem because we make up for our racist discrimination by sending tents to Haiti. :o)
21. Oh so the world treats you like
herman ,   NY, USA   (03.30.11)
Oh so the world treats you like you treat charadim in Isreal? oh so sorry to hear that.
22. So many lies in one article!
Avi ,   NYC, USA   (03.30.11)
Israel wasn't the fist to send a field hospital to Haiti, and definitely not the first to send a field hospital to Japan. However, Israel is the first and utmost at requesting global admiration for every humanitarian effort it does. To put it bluntly, the biggest schnorer on this planet is requesting everybody's attention, when it donates a little to others.
23. #16 Israel's efforts in Haiti were praised worldwide
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (03.30.11)
Israeli doctors and nurses were the ONLY ones performing complex surgery in Haiti. News media around the world (including CBS, CNN, and Sky News) gave high praise to the IDF field hospital there. The Israeli medical team saved many lives and Israeli search teams rescued people who were trapped under the rubble. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3836254,00.html

29. #16, opportunistic, say ye?
israeli ,   israel   (03.30.11)
If Israel were flaunting itself in front of the cameras, as you claim, our efforts would not go unnoticed and there would be no need for Mr. Meotti to write such articles. Very nice of Argentina to have set up a permanent hospital in Haiti. I have no doubt that the standard of medical care is excellent in Argentina, mainly in the field of Neurosurgery as far as I know, but setting up a field hospital in a time of crisis is not quite the same as providing medical services on a regular basis. Not everyone can treat "44 wounded people in 28 minutes". So please don't belittle our efforts. There's only about 5.5 million Jews living in Israel, and I doubt that any other nation of similar size matches our willingness to help others in distress. Israel also provided medical care for children affected by the nuclear disaster in Cernobyl, and also prosthetic limbs for Armenians who suffered traumatic amputations during an earthquake.

I agree. And now, due to law of EU, they can do it.
