So who was the first nation to set up a field hospital in Japan? Please provide link as well :)
32. Dear Ibrihim bin Yusuf
shira z ,   J'slm, Israel   (03.30.11)
My father is Yosef Avraham - named after grandfathers who were named after grandfathers... That makes me Shira bat Yosef. Maybe we're related?
33. Sit tight
Sadeh ,   Johannesburg   (03.30.11)
Don't worry Israel. Words are just words. Any worthy human being can filter biased media. While this "newsrooms" waste their energy, you plant seeds everywhere in the world, helping those who are truly in need. When it all boils down the truth will be heard!
34. #11, #20, #22 Have you all read the article?
Tahl   (03.30.11)
I'm asking because you all seem to be missing the point. Which is that the world media focuses entirely on the negative when it comes to Israel (and much of that is disinformation, exaggeration or outright lies), and ignores completely the positive. And this is not fair. Either ignore us altogether - no good and no bad news on us - or report everything, including the good things we do. There are plenty of them. Let the media treat us fairly for a change!
35. GIULIO MEOTTI
Annalisa ,   Cambridge   (03.30.11)
I am so proud of the work my countryman Giulio Meotti is doing on the subject of Israel. I recommend his book The New Shoah, as well as the Italian newspaper he writes for, Il Foglio, which also hosts Giulio's blog. He is a real friend of Israel.
36. Israel should be 100 times more assertive on her own behalf.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.30.11)
The media problem is simple. The Western media is dominated by liberal jounalists. Liberal journalists are, for the most party, Helen Thomas clones. Thomas publicly says what most of them think. However, there is no excuse for Israel's failure to advance the truth. What is the reason for Israel's government to hide our iron clad legal claim to Judea and Samaria? It has been validated by countless legal scholars. Israel should advance it aggressively in the U.N. and all international forums. Our diplomats should shower the world media and governments with our proof. Our enemies are easy to understand. Why isn't Israel 100 times more assertive on her own behalf?
37. Dr. David Applebaum was a Saint!

38. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.30.11)
They left their homes voluntarily. What part of the world "voluntarily" do you not understand? Israel doesn't have to take them back. Besides -- I note for the record that following World War II, Czechoslavakia forcibly deported all the ethnic Germans living in the Sudeten. (They didn't leave voluntarily, and many were killed by Czech "partisans.") And that was after just one war. How do you think Israel feels, all six of its wars having been started by the Arabs, but won by Israel. Wow! Six wars! Seems Israel would be perfectly justified in doing to the Arabs what the Czech government did to the Germans in the Sudeten. But we are not vicious animals like the Czechs. Even so, the Arabs who left voluntarily left for good. Sorry.
39. To: No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.30.11)
They have been given in private. How much of the information came as completely new and astonishing to you? Pretty much all of it, I wager.
40. To: No. 20
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.30.11)
1. The West Bank is not "occupied." Non-sovereign territory acquired in the course of fighting a defensive war can be settled by the victor. 2. Kindly document what alleged "abominations" are allegedly "committed" against non-Jews in Israel. 3. Israel did far more than "send[ing] tents to Haiti."
41. Response to #16
Laura ,   USA   (03.30.11)
#16 The Israelis are STILL in Haiti. So much for your pathetic claim that they were only there a short time for opportunistic reasons. The goodness of the Israelis is genuine and goes far beyond Haiti. Perhaps it is your own country's feeble efforts that were bogus. The Israelis did far more than Argentina, which doesn't have the same medical capabilities.
42. Response to #4
Laura ,   USA   (03.30.11)
#4, ordinarily you would be right that one doesn't need recognition for good deeds. But since Israel is universally and falsely maligned, I think it is high time the country was recognized for its good deeds. Something needs to be done to counter the lies and vitriol directed against Israel. And besides, Israel is not seeking recognition for its humanitarian deeds. This was the writer expressing his opinion.
43. Response to #20
Laura ,   USA   (03.30.11)
It is the policy of hamas and the PA that Jews are forbidden to live amongst the arab-muslims. Arabs live anywhere they choose in Israel.
44. Response to #22
Laura ,   USA   (03.30.11)
FYI, the biggest shnorers on the planet are the "palestinians". They receive the most foreign aid of any people per capita. On the other hand Israel, without the benefit of natural resources and through the entrepeneurship of its citizens, developed their own economy. I would suggest you open your mind and read "Start up Nation". In fact Israel was the first and only field hospital to operate in Haiti. And far from donating little to others, as the article points out, Israel for its size contributes more humanitarian projects around the world than other nations.
45. Thanks!
Dan ,   Herzliya   (03.30.11)
Belive me I know, Im in the same situation as you, but I moved from Norway, the media there is one of the worst in the world to blame Israel for everything that goes wrong in the arab countries. Theres just to many people who dont like Israel that runs Norway.
46. Israel gets no brownie points for stupidly helping her enemi
Max ,   Auckland NZ   (03.31.11)
Israel should not be wasting resources helping countries which vote to condemn her week after week in the United Nazis. If you show weakness, deliberately lose wars, speak strong then do nothing, well, you can't complain if you "can't get no respect".
47. laura, you speak the truth however
Barney ,   USA   (03.31.11)
you will never change the mind of the Jew haters. In the end, the Jews of Israel who gave of themselves for the benefit of humanity will get their reward. the muslim nations can't even get it together to do it for propaganda. they would much rather have silver plated autos and gold plated faucets while their people live on two dollars a day. Thank G-d for the Jews and long live Israel a light unto the nations!
48. Backyards
Nic ,   Sweden   (03.31.11)
It's quite common that Israeli representatives point to external factors and/or events, to shy away from what's happening in their own backyard. I see many pro-Israeli commentators in media trying to shift focus to well-known dictatorships. ("well, you talk about international law, but look at THEM!". The same thing goes here: "Well, sure we're violating human rights, but we're damn good at sending aid abroad!" If you want to be part of the democratic community, stop comparing yourself with dictatorships and start comparing yourself with real democracies. If you want us to actually believe the alleged altruism, clean up your own dirt. Until then it's a joke.
49. Just so Japanese see
Hannah ,   Israel   (03.31.11)
In regard to comments that it doesn't matter what the media reports: it might not matter, as people who hate will hate irrationally. My main concern is, having just read that Japanese doctors won't treat people without proof they weren't exposed to radiation, do these patients know about the Israeli field hospital? IF media won't cover it, are they hearing about it?
50. NIC IN SWEDEN
Brant ,   Hilton Head SC   (03.31.11)
How cn you possibly be an intelligent, curious human being in the 21st century and believe all the crap you believe about Israel? You could take a day and change your propaganda-induced beliefs but fools like you never do,.You are overwhelmed by the Arab bleating about "war crimes"? What the hell are 4000 Hizbullah rockets fired only at civilians; 250 Hamas rockets fired only at civilians? THOSE are the war crimes. What is the incessant, awful, garbage emanating from the Mosques of Gaza callingJews sons of Monkeys and Pigs! What the hell is the matter with you Nic? Look into it, for your own sake. It was not Israel that kept the Arabs of Gaza under dusk to dawn curfew every day from 1948-1967. Arab blame for the Occupation matters too. Israel fought Egypt and Jordan, not "Palestinians. It's not as simple as "aparttheid state" or "Zionazis". Those are EASY words. We need to clean up our own backyards, Nic, including you in Sweden, where you have been taken in by professionalluy-crafted Arab/Palestinian "victimization" theatrics.
51. Ibrahim ibn Yusuf
Prayter ,   vancouver, canada   (03.31.11)
Maybe if Argentina were the target of a vicious libel campaign and a 50 plus-year history of Arab terrorism, they also would want to publicize their altruistic deeds. By the way, how many field hospitals, ambulances, search & rescue teams, etc., have the Arab countries sent to Haiti, Southeast Asia, Japan, etc.?
52. The Many Blessings of Israel to the World were Foretold in
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (04.01.11)
the Bible thousands of years ago. G-D said that through the Jews, ALL nations would be blessed. G-D keeps all His promises!
53. #20 Never satisfied
Craig James ,   Westwood, MA USA   (04.01.11)
For the Israel haters there like you there is simply nothing that country can do to rid you of your animus towards it. For crying out loud, to turn an article on the numerous humanitarian efforts Israel does into an attack on them is just ridiculous. You reveal more about yourself than you do about Israelis.
54. #8
Vivian ,   Maine, USA   (04.01.11)
Palestinians have no homes in Israel proper. If they are living outside of Israel, it is because that was their choice. They wanted to wage war on the Jewish State. Let them go to Jordan, Eqypt, Syria. They have more land than Israel. But nobody wants them, for good reason. They are not constructive people - they are destructive to themselves and everyone else.
55. Bad Press as Ususal
M ,   Israel   (04.04.11)
Flavio, you're TOO correct. As an Israeli since age 19 and X-USA American, I have learned that no matter what we (Israel) do, the world will corrupt the facts and show us as the devil. It's been going on since the Romans. The only thing we can hope for is that the Jews who choose to live in the Diaspora become our press agents to the world and show the truth, un-politicized, un-demonized. Thats to those who take the risk,
56. We've seen the videos
Connie ,   USA   (04.05.11)
Like they say, a picture says more than 1000 words. Your minds have been conditioned from birth to see an upside down world. You always see yourselves as the victim, even when you are the terrorist. Loose your programming and gain a life, your own!
57. Why is ever body always pickin on us!
Connie ,   USA   (04.05.11)
58. Yes, Israeli need to be more assertive!
Connie ,   USA   (04.05.11)
Instead of killing 1500 unarmed Palestinians in Gaza you should have killed 10,000! Instead of killing 9 humanitarian aide workers on a flotilla, you should have killed 100. Show the world what a real terrorist looks like you timid Israelis! We should love you because you helped to fix what you destroyed? Yes, many say it was your technology that caused all those problems you mention. Earthquakes, 9/11, all! What? You didn't know?!!! Do they keep you in a bubble?
