6. Lefargen! LeFargen! LeFargen!
moi ,   ici   (03.30.11)
Please people be kind and give these beautiful ladies their due of praise and compliments. This is called "Firgun" from the Yiddish verb "LeFargen" which can be translated as "gratuitous compliment giving"
7. not nice at all
religious guy ,   somewhere in israel   (03.30.11)
Girls/women with lots of make-up and weird half-revealing clothing are disgusting. I prefer natural girls with real beauty and no weird clothing or hair styles, and no make-up. Nice example is the IDF, I think participants in a beauty contest should wear IDF uniforms (everyone exactly the same and not revealing much) and no make-up, and no weird hair styles. That would be much more fun. Same goes for religious girls' dress.
8. To Scott although I'm no expert in Dresses

10. miss israel contest
moron ,   galut   (03.30.11)
at last good news from israel--the winner looks natural and modest enough and not everyone needs to dress the same
11. 2011 or 1983?
David ,   Boulder, CO USA   (03.30.11)
Are you sure that photo didn't come from the early 1980s given those outfits?
12. She must have a great personality
sean greene ,   pasadena, USA   (03.31.11)
Cause all the other women are prettier.
13. Best of breed..
Shnauzer ,   Israel   (03.31.11)
They look like the top 5 in "Best of Breed" at a dog show!
14. Ella stood out from the other contestants
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (03.31.11)
The judges chose correctly. She's beautiful, statuesque, intelligent, has a beautiful smile, and looked the best in a bikini (you can tell she works out at the gym). Also, the contest seems to have a 2nd purpose to showcase the work of Israel's fashion designers (I believe there were two represented). Some of the dresses were obviously created just as costumes. Whether or not you like the designs, it is visually impressive - and very different from the typical American beauty pageant in that the Israeli girls make numerous costume changes.
15. No. 7 certainly was a beauty.........
Pamela ,   London, UK   (03.31.11)
Yes Mark, she certainly is beautiful in every way and smiled happily until the very end and beyond which must have taken a lot of courage, considering she went away with absolutely nothing. She definately deserved one of the 4 prizes. I'm sure she will be successful, if not in Israel, then abroad.
16. Outfits (or photo) do not do those girls justice.
leo ,   usa   (04.01.11)
17. No Scholarship?
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (04.05.11)
In the United States they give a scholarship! It even gets used sometime. Well, I guess we in Israel are at least honest about what this kind of cattle auction really is!
