1. Olmert Oh Please
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (03.31.11)
Going back to the 67 Borders 9 mile wide borders is your answer if that was to happen then Israel existence would really be a problem so please In my opinion you are a American Patsy read Eugene Rostow. Eugene Rostow Under Secretary of state author of UN resolution 242 wrote in 1991 that Israel and Jews had a right to settle the West Bank, and that the British Mandate cannot be rescended. He also said that Israel was not required to go back to the 67 borders. Maybe your hoping the Americans will get you out of trouble.
2. When is this guy going to jail?
Rachel ,   US   (03.31.11)
The only thing he regrets is not stealing even more money.
3. Olmert's many achievements
Eddie ,   london UK   (03.31.11)
As deputy and PM, Ehud Olmert left many legacies for Israel: The disastrous exit form Gaza, removing settlers and not securing any peace or ceasefire, nor blocking free entry of terrorists from /into Sinai. A botched Lebanon war, where his left hand was arguing with his right, unabel to constrain Hizbolla, with an unqualified defence minister masquerading as a military expert. And wasting soldiers lives whilst unsure of what orders to give or change. Promising everything to the Palestinians and hence doing away with any bargaining power. A one sided ceasefire with Gaza, while they happily fire missiles daily into Israel, followed by a war which is unclear of objectives, and is so dramatic that the world backs the Hamas , despite their missile fire. Goldstone report which has opened the floodgates for the delegitimisation of Israel. With such a legacy, for Bibi to not repeat any of these disasters is some achievement!
4. Who really cares what this cheap gangster thinks?
shadoil ,   jerusalem   (03.31.11)
5. Its amazing - twits like Olmert really believe their own BS
(03.31.11)
This guy was probably the WORST PM of any country...
6. Does this man have any honor?
EZ ,   US   (03.31.11)
Driven out of office due to corruption and he's blabbering about someone else's politics? Does this man have any sense of shame or honor? Like, who will take this man seriously? He should be avoiding the limelight for the rest of his life for disgracing and humiliating Israel. What an embarrassment. I just don't get Israel anymore! The government carries out witch-hunts on a regular basis, shaming Israel and destroying it's credibility everywhere, the politicians always seem to have something controversial following them or getting put in jail; the whole thing plays out like a bad joke. The Israeli government needs to get a clue and stop the damn witch-hunts or Israel is going to tank. Like this is what we need right now!? Investigate Bibi for taking a private plane ride!? Good grief! Uh, the Arab world is crumbling all around with Muslim extremists joking for position and all Israel can come up with is to assail this stupid charge (uh, that wound up NOT costing Israel but saving them money)??? It's just so stupid. I'm so sick of working my arse off to promote the positive aspects of Israel here in the states just to watch this garbage constantly unfold and destroy Israels credibility left and right. The Israeli govt needs to get it together in a real hurry and cut out the Hollywood gossip and bs or it's gonna destroy us completely. And just a shout to my Israeli bros and sisters: yeah, we American Jews DO matter: there's more if us than you, we donate more than anyone so dont get high and mighty on us: we've had your backs for quite a while and deserve to have a say. As far as Aliyah goes: when the Israeli government finally gets their act together, you better believe we'd flood Israel and bring the money too. But until the govt gets their act together and finds some honor, it's difficult for us to do our jobs here, and that ain't no kvetch!!! Write to your MK's and demand the government show some respect to their offices and the people they represent. This is just embarrassing for a sophisticated State!
7. empty words
alexi   (03.31.11)
this gutless coward was giving away the golan to king of terror in syria for nothing, using israel hating erdgoan as his trusted intermediary. This louse who never did combat screwed up the 2006 war wiht his hesitation and fear of blood and who did nothing against hamas for 2 years. Ask 1 million israeli s inthe south who is better-bibi or olmert and they would vote 100% bibi because hamas gets wacked for every missile fired wherea s olmert outdid barak in hitting empty buildings. Olmert of course said that he is tired of fighting, tired of winning. offered abbas concessions which didnot leave israel in charge of mountain ridges and jordan valley because he understands nothing of geography and security, nothing, same like livni. What he does understand according to the allegations is to rip off charities and take money from A and B to fatten his wallet. Olmert is the lowest of the low and would sell israel out to line his pocket. Anyone who takes his advice seriously deserves it. begin would be rolling in his grave to hear olmert's comments and see his twin livni alongside offering aushwitz concessions. And ynet news and haaretz report this crook's comments kniowing that he will be going tojail. And that is where he belongs for a long time.
8. "Peace process" poses greatest danger to Israel.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.31.11)
The biggest danger to Israel is the "peace process" itself. Every single one of it's goals is disastrous for Israel. From stealing Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria from Israel - to reducing our waist to 8 miles (15 minute tank ride) to inundating us with rockets and hostile Arabs. The best thing Israel must do for herself is to reject the evil Two State Final Solution in the strongest terms.
9. Wouldn't know how to run a fruit farm
Ypip ,   Canada   (03.31.11)
10. Oh yes it has
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (03.31.11)
The State has indeed moved forward: it's some good progress that this clown is no longer PM. Jail him fast, before he's recycled. And if only he'd stop with the tragic face-making; someone should tell him it only highlights his facial crevices.
11. I hoped Kadima had more self respect
zionist forever   (03.31.11)
Olmert humiliated the Kadima party, totally screwed up the country and his attempts to micromanage the Lebanon war against the will of the officers on the ground may have cost the lives of soldiers. Olmert's comment on Cast Lead about his only regret being we didn't finish the operation is hypocritical at best disgusting at worst. The IDF were doing a great job and were well on their way to achieving their objectives but they wanted another week. Under pressure from Livni Olmert refused to give them that extra week and instead called for an unconditional ceasefire and withdraw of all Israeli troops. The reason was because Cast Lead took place in the middle of election campaign and all parties had put their campaigns on hold during the operation. All the polls had Likud way out in front and so Livni needed to start getting in some campaigning and so Olmert turned what had potential to be a great victory into another humiliation and we went running out of Gaza unconditionally which made us look weak. This man is disgusting and should in prison not trying to get back into politics which it looks like he is trying to do.
12. Demoralization
ZICHRON   (03.31.11)
Olmert alleged corrupt sleazy money grabbing demoralized israel and he overreacted for blood votes in the lebanon war of 2006 without mind to israeli army readiness . Sharon was a brilliant ruthless warrior but to be defense minister in 1982 or far worse prime minister in 2001 was nuts he should have been in exiled to his ranch . He was too brutal for post holocaust judaism except in the case of a nuclear war .
13. A day too early.

14. Israel must uncover the source, motive of the Olmert bribes
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (03.31.11)
The steady stream of fat envelopes of cash flowing to a sitting prime minister of Israel from Morris Talansky needs investigating. What is certainly clear is that the cover story, the bribes were for helping (??)Talansky with his Las Vegas hotel mini-bar business, is beyond ridiculous. Who was thismoney comingfrom, and with what objective. Talansky, with a murky past and no apparent source for his "wealth", has all the features of a CIA bag man. Was the CIA bribing Olmert? Was George Soros, The Saudis? Israel really needs to get to the bottom of this, since Olmert was falling head over heels to give away the store, all Israel's assets and bargaining chips, and with zero in return. Or would Bibi prefer to learn the truth from WikiLeaks?
15. Existential threat - Good point
Israeli 2   (03.31.11)
So you should have finished the job the way every other job must be finished. "If there's one thing I regret – it's that we didn't finish the job back then – we cannot avoid the need to complete the job. Israel cannot accept the presence of a terror entity in Gaza, which threatens the citizens of the State of Israel, without taking action. Not random action, but controlled, precise and organized action with enough force to bring a change to the reality in Gaza," Olmert said. If he means he regrets not having anihilated all of Hamas, I agree with him.
16. Olmert and kadima jeopardized Israel's existence.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.31.11)
They were willing to give away Israeli land for the fake promise of a real peace.
17. State not moving fast enough
David M.   (03.31.11)
Olmerd is right. The state of Israel and its judicial system haven't moved fast enough to put the crook into prison.
18. Chutzpah!
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (03.31.11)
With his record he should shut up. How come that he is not jail? Katsav was sentenced in no time! Because he's a leftist demagogue?
19. Finishing the job in Gaza.....Get rid of Barak.

20. ohlmert

man belongs behind bars- and not on stage giving a lecture..........
21. The Crooked Man Speaks
Dan ,   USA   (03.31.11)
Why isn't he in a prisoner's uniform?
22. Put Olmert in a jail cell with Katzav
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (03.31.11)
23. Ehud Olmert
Marc ,   Beit Shemesh   (03.31.11)
In America when a President leaves office (except for Jimmy Carter) they try and do everything they can to keep a low profile and not engage in political fighting with the new president. They represent the US with dignity when requested. May Ehud, hopefully will never again occupy the PM office, should take a cue from the ex-US Presidents. You would think that his years as PM were the greatest of all time, not a disaster. Man he has no shame. He should shut up or follow is brother and kids and just leave already.
24. DEAR MR .OLMERT
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (03.31.11)
Judging from the reactions of the talk-backers here ,if I were you I would maintain a low profile and keep quiet.
25. Olmert. Olmert? Really?
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (03.31.11)
Hmmm. I thought Olmert would only get an hour or so, out of his cell for the purpose of showers and evercise. I did not realize that he would have access to a "blatherphone", where he could do his excellent party imitation of Zippy da Livni. Oh well. Jail just ain't what it usta be. Wonder if he makes notes with one of those Gazillion shekel fountain pens? Nah. Left them in the wardrobe or dresser at the Cream Street HQ.
