1. They should be sued
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.31.11)
2. Mistreatment of prisoners
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.31.11)
The police are often overly aggressive in the treatment of arrestees. This is not a secret. There may be times when such behaviour is called for, but not in most of the cases. If it cannot be proven that there was "...misconduct on the part of the officers..." that would not surprise me in the least. The non-returned cell phones are another story altogether. On that basis alone these 4 men have a case for a suit against the police.
3. boys parents should be sued and jailed too

do you mean that the men should be sued instead, or are you agreeing that the police should be? i have a sinking feeling i know which one you mean.
5. #3 one problem
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.31.11)
It is impossible to believe that the boy invented the story, so he is either very troubled or was raped by someone, the question is who. The police decided to release the four suspects, but the boy's family is keeping to their story that he was raped. Something is very wrong with the whole story.
6. Be A Becon Of Light! Hold To Highest Standards
Robert Blum ,   New York USA   (03.31.11)
While it was an eggregious act by the 11 year old child, who should be put in juvenile jail and should apologize, I think that where the safety of children is concerned, there should be a 'better safe than sorry approach'. Therefore I understand the arrest of the 4 men, whether Arab or Jew. However, if what the 4 detainees allege is true, with regard to the police, then in line with the harshness of being subjected to a 'middle of the night' arrest and the shock and fear and shame it elicits, there should be a public and also direct apology to them, regardless of their status as illegally being in Israel.
7. ilegals and liers

8. #4 I believe you are right
Robert ,   Brisbane Australia   (03.31.11)
These men should be severely punished for having the temerity to be accused of such a vile act regardless of their innocence. That appears to be the attitude of the bulk of posters here.
9. Can Illegal Alien sue?
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (03.31.11)
It would seem that being in the country illegally would mean they really don't have the rights of citizens, so they can't sue. The old Good Cop, Bad Cop has been used for years. Show me their physical injuries first. Spitting on somebody is humiliating but does no physical damage, so save the cry me a river story. But go ahead and sue, if it's you right that's fine.
10. jj (03.31.11)
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.31.11)
The men were in Israel Illegally, therefore they are far from innocent and deserved arrest anyway
11. The police treated us like dogs ,...
split ,   US   (03.31.11)
You're Palestinian in Israel, what did you expect ,...
12. Spitting
Joel ,   Ny Ny   (03.31.11)
You sound like an idiot! Spitting on somebody is just humiliating? As an orthodox Jew, I can tell you that these Israeli police are scum, you see it in their actions and you read about it all the time. That was no way to handle this situation, unless you are positive and have done fact checking. Can you see that going on here? They have clowns running their security depts and act more like arabs than Jews!!
13. And what if the situation was reversed?
ray ,   israel   (03.31.11)
at least you're allowed to step in israeli territory without being lynched by a a crazy arab mob.
14. #11 split/schizo/wes
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.31.11)
They could put them in the cells with prisoners who plain flat out despise child molesters, just like they do in the USA You seem overly concerned with child molestation, is that because you're a molester too ? Israel Palestinian's studying in Jordan were just attacked for winning a school election, a typical example of Arab brotherly love
15. 14 - They could put them in the cells with prisoners,...
split ,   US   (03.31.11)
In US or any civilised country you're presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law, also you have a right to remain silent and not to incriminate yourself. You have a right to have a lawyer during interrogation. If you can't afford it one will be provided by the state, but how would you know, pinhead ,...

outstanding 10. outstanding. this warrants a false accusation of gang-raping a child? i love you guys. you couldnt make this stuff up!
17. #14 Split/Schizo MIRANDA
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.31.11)
Did the USA Mirandize the prisoners they're holding in Gitmo & Abu Ghreib or for that matter, file charges against them ? Attorney Genera Holder has said that's unlikely some of them will ever have the opportunity to go to trial, or see freedom again Charges against KSM ? After all these years they haven't determined where trial is to be held Practice what you preach !! These illegal’s were found innocent of rape, were set free, which is a lot more than the prisoners in Gitmo & Abu Ghreib have to look forward to forward to
18. Gitmo & Abu Ghreib is not on US soil...
split ,   US   (03.31.11)
and not the subject of this article - It doesn't mean that I condone it ,...
19. police beat....
pragmatist/realist. ,   world/planet earth   (04.01.11)
if it is true when those police officers have mistreated and tortured people and said that all arabs must be killed. to hell with those police officers. they must be fired and very severly punished. then there is absolutely no excuse for their behaviour.
20. #3 SPLIT/SCHIZO
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.01.11)
Gitmo is a U.S. Base siuated on Cuba under an old treaty Abu Ghraeib, seems to me and they rest of the world that they're U.S. troops acting as Jailers It's like you're saying you shot someone and not responsible because you didn't make the gun Yeah, I know, guns don't kill, people do, and those just happen to be U.S. people Next time, don'tquote Miranda rules when the U.S. applies them as they see fit
21. #16
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.01.11)
Israel didn't make the accusation a kid did It was investigated and charges dropped I just love your ilk, blaming the cops for pursuing evidence because a kid made false charges Let's for the moment assume that the kid that alleged the rape was yours, would you really want the accused be let free to go and take a chance of them raping again ? I don't know where you live, neither do I care, from your posts I guess it's somewhere other than Planet Earth
22. no #21
jj   (04.01.11)
point is that the kid made the allegations and then admitted he was lying. end of story. you want punishment for these men for simply being accused. and not blaming cops for pursuing evidence. these cops beat and spat on people in their custody. thats what this article is about. did you actually read it?
23. #18 2nd reply to SPLIT/SCHIZO
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.01.11)
The fact is and was that both Gitmo & Abu Ghreib are manned by U.S. Military, which means that they're under American control & Auspices Gitmo is on lease from Cuba, as such, it's like an Embassy in a Foreign Country, considered to part of the property lf the country it represents Your answer is like someone that committed murder, claiming that it wasn't his fault, since he didn't manufacture the gun or ammo Go blame Smith & Wesson for making the pistol & Remington for the ammo
24. Again, pinhead ,...
split ,   US   (04.01.11)
Gitmo & Abu Ghreib is not on US soil. US Constitution doesn't protect you on foreign soil. An Emabassy is your diplomatic property on foreign soil protected by international law. A military base is not. For instance: Our personel on Okinawa or Abu Garcia that broke their law beside being accountable to USAF Law must face their Justice System and submit to judgements, There're thousands upon thousands GI's children born on and around US bases that wish to be a subjects of our law but they're not. Now, stop mudding the water and get to the subject which deals with your law enforcement ethics.
25. #24 again split/schizo
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.01.11)
These infiltrators are not subject to protection under Israeli law since they entered illegally Which still doesn't change the fact that the USA has defield the rules of war, by holding combatants illegally, using duress and torture to extract information Sincey ou mentioned pinhead, there is more brains in a pimple on my butt that you have in your entire skull
