If Hamas uses civilians as human shields. Then they become legitimate targets for the IDF, clearly you can't give any enemy a safe harbor, so to speak, from which to attack their enemy. So when the IDF attacks, it may need video proof to make their point. But don't think it's a necessity. Look the IDF has dropped pamphlets (warning civilians to get out of the way), giving up the element of surprise, and host of other impressive moves. But in the end, from a Pallywood PR view it made no difference. In Lebanon if we had Iron Dome operating we would have run out of interceptors within less than half an hour so it has zero use as a battlefield weapon. The other week when a load of Grads were fired, if we had shot down every one of them with iron Dome it would have cost near $1 million. Each battery which Barak wants to buy more of cost around the same price as three F16s. The three years between the pull out of Gaza in 2005 - Cast Lead in 2008 we would have been able to buy an entire squadren of F16s for the same price as it would have cost us in iron Dome interceptors alone. If we start buying more batteries the IDF is going to have to drop plans for many more valuable assets to fund it. As for Barak announcing the thing isn't perfect. What kind if idiot defense minister announces that the system we are about to put into operation against rockets isn't perfect for Hamas to hear and at the same time says we will buy more batteries of this imperfect system. If we were smart we would sell off the current two batteries to anybody who wants to buy and then buy something useful.
