There're so many cases of mistrust, mistreatment and abuse in almost every point of entry in the world. The own citizens returning home sometimes are going through "hell". Almost every day we're hearing and reading stories of undeserved humiliation. Profiling is everywhere and IN EVERYONE. However, for a government representative calling a visitor "Juden" and making insulting face expression is unforgiving (unfortunately, often it's hard to prove). Arabs get checked on a daily basis because they have a history of terrorist activity plus what they did to him is very different, to be investigated first in Germany then again in Canada and then again in Germany for many hours is very different and if the border police did their job properly they could have confirmed his identity with the Israeli consulate. I think they were referring to the ability to financially support oneself during one's sojourn in Canada. Many countries have such a requirement. From the text it's clear this gentleman barely had enough money to get the airticket and he may not have been able to satisfy the Canadians that he was a self-sufficient, bona fide tourist. Doesn't explain what happened in Germany though. Besides, the Germans have excellent relations with Israel and it's very easy for airport authorities to ascertain the validity of a passport. It usually takes about an hour to do so. There is something very important missing from the whole story. I hope Mr. Damka realizes his dream eventually. This story is unbelievable. They have to pay now big time for the harrassment and psychological damage that they caused you. This would not have happened in America.

i took a business trip to vancouver from l.a. last fall. i am white but brought my african american girlfriend with me. after i went through the pasport stamp area i picked up our luggage and then was asked to go to secondary inspection where the f***ing canadian customs officials had us wait for over two hous before another official interrogated us and went through everything we had. they said it was just random checks but i know it was bullshit. if i was there as a tourist i would have blown a gasget and cursed everything canadian not giving a dam if they sent me back home. they were very rude. as it turned out i kept my mouth shut but the scottsman before us verbally abused the customs officials wich i was happybto hear. he had been waiting over three hours before they even got to him without any explinations. i wont go there ever unless it is business orientated.
