1. Sorry Ynet editor, I must break my silence if U plz ,
Salma ,   Palestine   (04.02.11)
hey you, what about Palestinian mothers ? ever heared of their mourning ?! Farid Ghadry, You are a replica of Iraqi dissident Iraqi dissident Ahmad Chalabi and your destiny will not be better than his one.
2. Israel should do none of it, either outcome is good
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (04.02.11)
Syrian people never cared about Israel, then why should Israel care about them. Let the Arabs fight it out, and the weakened stronger man win. In the end the winning side will be weaker than Syria was before and this is good for Israel.
3. "The alternative to Assad is freedom"
Rachel ,   US   (04.02.11)
Says who?
4. Ghadry for the Syrian presidency!
Tahl   (04.02.11)
Farid Ghadry sets a great example for all Arabs to follow. If all Arabs were practical, positive-minded and peace-loving like him, rather than consumed by blind hatred to Israel and to one another, peace would have been here decades ago. I can only wish now, that ordinary Syrian citizens would be wise enough to vote for him or someone similar to be the next Syrian president.
5. #4 DREAM HABIBI DREAM

6. Hope the author is correct but Israel cannot meddle
Sami ,   New York, USA   (04.02.11)
I hope the author is correct but Israel cannot meddle. Hopefully Syria will one day become a real democracy and they will expel the HAMAS leadership..
7. But will Israeli support be productive?
JK ,   usa   (04.03.11)
The author wrote a beautiful, hope-filled article. I only pray that his views are shared by the (silent) majority of his country men. My question though is one of real politic. Wouldn't a public display of Israeli (or even American) support be used by Assad as proof of his crazy conspiracy theories and then be trumpeted to discredit the revolutionaries? I think the major reason for Israeli official silence is less "the devil we know" and more the fear of playing into Assad's attempt to portray this as an external "Zionist" or "American" conspiracy. That being said, I applaud the courageous sentiments of the author
8. Goldstone is History, Now For those 50,000 Rockets
Noah Lev ,   hollywoodUSA   (04.03.11)
There is an old expression, something about the only.good indian is a ...indian. Is anyone losing sleep over the entire Arab world's coming of age, after 1400 years? In Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan..Muslims kill Muslims. We are aiding one side or another in those wars. Why? Their people hate Israel and its Jews. They have said so time and time again. Shouts of kill the Jew and destroy Israel are common at protests, or by the mobs. This article is absaolute nonsense. Israel has to stay out of these conflicts..it loses no matter who wins. Israel should sure up its own defenses and create a deterrence that sends chills down the spines of the Arabs. Why only 200 nukes..( estimated). I want Israel to have hundreds more. Hez/Hamas, but memories, if another war Take out their 50,000 rockets..admitted..and launch sites. Then the fun begins.
9. Nothing will happen
Kazim Ali ,   Kut, Iraq   (04.03.11)
Syria is like Iraq , never well governed, therefore , it is likely to continue it's misrule .Few facts, no country can advance with minority rulings , and supported by a foreign benefactor, read Iran . The ruling sect will fight to the bitter end, in their view any reform is seen as a give in to the majority, Iranians and Hizb Allah cannot see Syria slip from their hands, but things do not stop there .The syrians are the ultimate traders, they will take Iranian money and enjoy the newly created polutocracy like other Arab countries . The only new thing is the Syrian demonstrators call that the government guns are not directed to the liberation of the golan highest but to their chests. Here is a marriage of convenience between the Israelis and the ruling Asad clan .This explains only partly though the Western lukewarm support. For the Syrian freedom call.
10. This guy must be supported !
Yossef   (04.03.11)
we have absolutely no interest in any war with any arab country. At the contrary, our interest are to develop exchanges, business or technology, students etc. with these countries, our neighbors and far cousins :) I hope more Farid Ghadry exist to make that happen. I will even say that a fair solution between palestinians and israelis has a better chance in a friendly (let's say democratic) environment than in an environment hostile to Israel. Good luck Farid, שלום וברכה.
11. Why should Israel say anything?
Danny   (04.03.11)
I can't imagine a single thing a single Israeli could say that would help. And nobody but nobody is prefering Assad to anyone. I have read an article by an Israeli Arab CLAIMING Israelis prefer Assad - no proof given - and there are the odd forgein reports with anon sources that sort of say "We are worried about what comes next" but i have not seen a single documented case of an Israeli even remotely close to power saying that they want Assad to crush the uprising. Most have said the opposite.
12. Can't you read SALMA #1?
Israeli 2   (04.03.11)
He DID mention Iraqi and Syrian and Lebanese... OH! He did not mention "Palestinian" mothers? Perhaps because as an Arab he KNOWS that such an entity did not do not and will not exist. Sour grapes, Salma! Sorry,Grapes!
13. #12 hmmm,
Salma ,   Palestine   (04.03.11)
so you must know that Farid Ghadry can not, will NOT be the next syrian President, no way . I will eat Grapes, well...... I love the sour grapes too ; )
14. Where is the Hebrew version of this article?
Logic ,   Israel   (04.03.11)
I've never seen this author's articles in the Hebrew Ynet, and if this is the case, it means that he's missing out on the significant Israeli audience.
15. Salma #1 silent?!? LMAO
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (04.04.11)
You being silent is kind of like a 'moderate Arab' neither exist anymore than your 'Palestinian history'. I hope that the Syrians have a long struggle.
