4. build more? are you kidding me?
Sam ,   Montreal, Canada   (04.04.11)
You people disgust me... Buld more?? This is why there will never be peace there. You want to steal all the land (illegally I might add) at the expense of another people, and terror attacks ensue as a result. I feel sorry for you narrow minded individuals. Your unrelenting partisan perspectives have no merit and serve no justice. On with the settlements, and on with the violence.

Steven ,   San Francisco   (04.04.11)
Netanyahu and Barak are not Zionists. Therefore they should be the last person to approve any zoning for Zionists. They are playing a game of smoke and mirrors with the lives and dreams of the best of Israelis.

Settlement expansion"fullness of the Gentiles". Go Israel build, build, and build.
9. Our land our Mitzvah

We must build, as commanded (Luke 21:20-26)
10. "Any additional construction will call for further approval"
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.04.11)
It would seem nothing much has changed. Construction will still be held up by the DM for "political reasons". This month nothing will happen because Peres is meeting Obama, nor next month because Netanyahu is meeting Obama. Wouldn't want to "embarrass him".
11. Well done!
David M.   (04.04.11)
Arabs can blackmail and threat, but we'll continue to build in our own country regardless of what the spineless UN votes on. To quote an old Arab proverb: Dogs bark while caravans pass. Abbas must have heard it, but he obviously hasn't learned anything.
12. What a horrific PM!
Rachel ,   US   (04.04.11)
One whole settlement. Thanks for the crumbs.

residing, anywhere on earth, but especially in their homeland, is nothing short of a form of racism, anti-Jewish racism at that. Sadly, the present White House is involved in just this practice: applied anti-Jewish racism!! It is time for a change....!!
14. #4 Sam: WRONG
David N. ,   Haifa, Israel   (04.04.11)
The San Remo Agreement says that Jews may live anywhere between the Jordan river and the sea. The violence started long ago, and what you don't know is that it is so-called international law that has flopped all over the place. the Arab world A) aleady has most of "Palestine" and B) it is huge and well-endowed with huge countries. They seperated off the Syrians and Bedouins and others and called them "Palestinians" in order to make a small nationality on the front lines with Israel. Before that they looked like the huge bully they really were attacking tiny Israel. The terrorists were killing Jews long before any Jewish towns were built in the heartland of Israel. Lots of Arabs are at peace with the idea--but you don't know that, do you?
15. building
colin   (04.04.11)
Bibi and his puppert barak realise they have lost the trust and faith of the public and that they have lost the next elections. They are not allowing building, not allowing constrution and trying with lies to get a few people to vote for them. Somebody must request Avigdor Lieberman to take the reigns and get rid of these anti Israel jew hating groveling to the american islamic african president pair and revive to pride of the Israelis.

Has anyone ever told you to leave Montreal? to quit your home? The land belongs to Israel, like it or not, accept it or not. You disgust us more with your lack of historical knowledge about our land. Do yourself a favour, read & learn about the land laws of Israel.

Brilliant statement, buddy - just great. We need a bit of same blood running though our veins as the boys of 1940s and 1950s. Lieberman will take no crap from puppets and muppets. We have been fighting the momsers with one arm tide down since 1973 onwards. Let us loose, you left wing scum...The Russian Jew.
19.  "this is not a construction permit"!!!!!!!!
Salma ,   Palestine   (04.04.11)
Barak is deceiving people and trying to make them believe his lies...........All of these settlements are illegal under international law and have been condemned by numerous United Nations security council resolutions.
20. Zoning - A Surefire Euphemism Hit
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (04.04.11)
When Sarah Palin came back with this gem, even the US right wing was dumbstruck. Not even Bill O'Reilly bought it. But this is sure to make Peres visit to DC memorable. Will he tell Biden, himself? Is this the plan to get Abbas back to the bargaining table? Where is this new Negev peyote sold?
21. Not enough !
Trumpeldor   (04.04.11)
@salma ,palestine,#19 San Remo 1920 clauses are binding and still valid ! They give sovereignty over the whole palestinian mandate to the Jewish People ! Stop tampering with 'international laws "....
22. Enough Already
Patrick ,   Or Akiva, Israel   (04.04.11)
I am saddened to see that the current Isreali Govenment seems to have lost all sese of reality. I am all for securuty and not gving up land. But the building policy is out of line.
23. The international law
avi   (04.04.11)
All the west bank belongs to Israel according the international law. the palestinian are not separated nation and they are part of the arabic nation.
24. @21 San Remo was inhuman and immoral.
Salma ,   Palestine   (04.04.11)
a solution to the Palestinian question from the standpoint of Judaism is NOT binding on us. respect international law, stop humiliating people!

Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (04.04.11)
We've been through this before: we have no problem giving all people who lived in Israel up to 1920 full citizen's rights. The problem is the "Palestinian Question" as you call it, is a problem that exists only because of the illegal Arab immigrants that the British occupier brought in between 1920 and 1948. Prove that you are serious about peace and prove that the "Palestinians" are native. Agree that the solution for all Arab immigrants who moved to Israel between 1920 and 1948 must be repatriation to Syria, Lebanon and Iraq and that the "Palestinians" who have rights are only those who lived here before 1920.
27. 24 Salma
JUDAH THE LION   (04.04.11)
International law is immoral and biased. Best solution for the Palestinains is to go back to their homeland in Arabia. Judea & Samaria are Jewish homeland .
28. @26 Plz Don't Change the Facts !
Salma ,   Palestine   (04.04.11)
No dear, the problem exists only because of the illegal Jewish immigrants that the British occupier brought in between 1920 and 1948. Just to refresh your memory, On November 2, 1917, the British issued the Balfour Declaration promising British support for a Jewish national homeland in Palestine yes in Palestine nothing was called "Israel" .
29. # 28
Jules   (04.04.11)
Palestine is a foreign (Roman) name of the geographical entity on which never ever a "palestinian state" or "palestinian nation" existed. Only a Jewish state has ever existed on that land. Now that State is called Israel. So it will be for many-many years ahead.
30. To: No. 4
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.04.11)
The West Bank is non-sovereign land, which was acquired by Israel in the course of fighting a defensive war. Under international law, Israel has every right to build settlements there. You cannot steal that which does not belong to anyone -- that's what non-sovereign land means. If anything, the Arabs who live in Judea and Samaria are illegal squatters. Moreover, the Arabs have had no fewer than three opportunities to accept a two-state solution, and have rejected all three including, most recently, an offer which would have given them 90% of the West Bank and East Jerusalem as a capital. They did not accept the offer, preferring to start the second intifada instead. The reason for rejecting such a very generous offer? It is because they are not interested in peaceful co-existence with Israel; they want to supplant Israel. Read the charters of the thirty-odd organizations, each of which purport to be the sole true representative of the ersatz "Palestinian" people. All these charters call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jews. There is also the matter of Israel having had to fight six wars -- all of which were started by the Arabs -- and having had to deal with seven decades of unrelenting Arab terror. They engaged in terror between 1948 and 1967, when there were no Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria. Your arguments are baseless and without merit. In fact, they are quite stupid and serve only to point up your woeful ignorance of the geopolitics of the Middle East, the Arab-Israeli conflict and of international law.
