31. #10 name ONE important Rabbi who permits this!!
Dovid ,   Los Angeles   (04.05.11)
Yosi - where do you begin? So according to you, every important Rabbi from the Rambam to R'Elyashiv is "either secular or totally ignorant of the Scriptures (sic)". Oh really? So did R'Elyashiv pass away (God Forbid) and you were appointed in his place? EVERY single legitimate Torah authority forbids this. The ONLY Rabbis who permit or encourage this are those who are motivated by extremist politics, and who make all of their "religious" rulings according to their extreme Right Wing political views.
32. #4 - you don't know your Maimonides
Eddie ,   london UK   (04.05.11)
Maimonides does not claim that the sacrifices will be abolished; he only gives rational reasons for them. However, the Torah gives reasons for them too.
33. 3 8 Barbaric?
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (04.05.11)
Did you ever take time to read a Chumash? Did you ever attend any type of jewish study or lecture? I'm sure yo never did, otherwise you wouldn't make such a stupid and disgusting statement!

molly young ,   texas, us   (04.05.11)
Do what is ultimately commanded. I am a noahide and understand only the basics. I understand enough to know the earth and all its inhabitants, whether they're aware or not, are affected by the spiritual balance they create. Those who are aware and bear the burden of the truth must do what they are capable of to tip the balance toward good. I'm doing my part to the best of my ability and I pray someone somewhere else on earth does and continues to do the same.
35. #31 - Rav David Bar Haim Shalitta.
TzVi ,   NY   (04.05.11)
Check his shiur at Machonshilo (dot) org on Korban Pessah. Are you even interested in being shomer Mitzvot? If not then we have nothing to talk about. If yes on the other hand, look at the sources and see what is stated plainly and simply.
36. #16...huh?
Le' Faux Jew ,   US   (04.05.11)
Who told you its a command from God?
37. To Steve #19 Shedding of Blood and Sin
SarahRachel ,   Los Angeles   (04.05.11)
Blood does not atone for sin. This is a Christian idea, not a Jewish idea that blood atones for sin. The animal sacrifices were offered as a means of atonement only in the sense of when you've wronged someone when you're a child, your parent will make you say youre sorry to that person and bring them a gift to show your sincerity, for your own sake mainly, to give up something valuable to you to the one you offended or wronged. This is what the animals sacrificed were for. The actual forgiveness of sins was accomplished through the PRAYERS, through asking God for forgiveness. Not through the blood of the animal. The Torah teaches that if a man couldnt afford a bull, he could bring a sheep, if he couldnt afford a sheep he could bring a bird, if he couldnt even afford a bird, he could bring grain. Grain is not blood. Blood does not obtain forgiveness for sins, the prayers did. Also, blood was not required except in cases of unintentional sin. After the destruction of the First Temple, in fact, if you look in Hosea you will see the Jews asking God "Now what? We have no Temple to bring the sacrifices!" God tells them specifically that the prayers of their lips will serve as the bulls of sacrifice. Hope this helps your understanding. If you need further explanation please consult your LOR.
38. #22, Ignormus is u.Mitzvah schmitzvah.I hve no clue happily.
Michael ,   California, USA   (04.05.11)
39. SarahRachel #37: Thanks for your gracious response.
Steve   (04.05.11)
At least you did not write, "Shut up and go learn you ignoramuses!" like Yoni #22. Yes, I am familiar with all of this but the point is, the rabbi is calling for the resumption of animal sacrifice (blood offerings) on the altar; not grain or meal offerings. I know a little about atonement. I know a little about seeking forgiveness from God (Hashem) because I have sinned. Nor am I a young man. Unlike Yoni, I am not perfect. I am not faultless. Asking God for forgiveness (prayer) is only the "beginning" of repentance and atonement. Sometimes it takes years to make atonement for sin. For example I am divorced. God told the prophet, "I hate divorce." I have paid a heavy price for it. I have indeed given up something valuable, this I can assure you; more valuable than sacrificing any animal. Atonement is not a simple. It is not an easy thing any more than it is easy or simple being a Jew who tries to walk before God. I am very much put off with, "Shut up and go learn you ignoramuses!" Why shouldn't I be?
40. Try another commandment first
Shiloh ,   Jerusalem   (04.05.11)
What are we supposed to do when haShem gives us the Land? Try teaching and fulfilling that first, then the rest will come easy. Such none sense.
41. If the good Rabbi
Ali ,   Sco   (04.05.11)
wants a sacrifice ,he can bring the poor animal to his own temple .There will be no slaughter at Al Asqa unless he attempts to try ,it won't be an animal slaughter
42. not enough sheep / goats
david ,   jerusalem   (04.05.11)
I'd love to be a part of it but finding a nice young sheep or goat for some 100 000+households in the Jerusalem area is not going to happen this year at least - G_d make me eat my words!
43. Response to #2
Moe ,   NY, USA   (04.05.11)
.The word "Supernatural" is a loose English translation by ynetnews.com editors of the Hebrew word "Karet" which literally means "Excision". A basic knowledge of Hebrew language and Jewish Law (Halacha) would avoid such idiotic "talk-backs" in the future.
44. #35 Who? Your random Rabbi is NOT an authority!
Dovid ,   Los Angeles   (04.05.11)
Looking for Poskim here, not some random Rabbi who agrees with you!
45. Eliyahu and milk
onimo ,   Barcelona, Spain   (04.05.11)
I wonder if Eliyahu mixes meat with milk. Halakah prohibits it but Abraham gave HaShem´s angels milk, cream and meat when He blessed Abraham and Sarah with Itzhak.
46. Sacrificing a child to Moloch
observer ,   Egypt   (04.05.11)
The discoveries made by the new archeology, during the 1980s, discredited a great exodus in the 13th century BC. Moses could not have led the Hebrews out of Egypt into the Promised Land, for the good reason that the latter was Egyptian territory at the time. And there is no trace of either a slave revolt against the pharaonic empire or of a sudden conquest of Canaan by outsiders. No one exiled the people of the country. The Romans did not exile peoples and they could not have done so even if they had wanted to. They did not have trains and trucks to deport entire populations. That kind of logistics did not exist until the 20th century. Passover?
47. Rabbis "permit" or "forbid"?
Eddie ,   london UK   (04.05.11)
In the Torah, the word rabbi does not exist. The Torah and Hebrew Scriptures are the Authority for Israelites possessing Israel, and Jerusalem. The Mosque has not right to be there. The Sacrifices must be resumed.
48. Ick, let's not sacrifice animals. Prayer is enough.
Scott ,   USA   (04.05.11)
Does the rabbi eat grasshoppers too? That's mentioned in the Torah. He should do so at least once a year.
49. Sacrifice the Rabbi
k ,   US   (04.05.11)
or anyone else who harms an animal
50. Diaspora Jews
Uziyahu Ben-Adi ,   U.S.A.   (04.06.11)
Diaspora Jew and those who have made Yeridah from Israel have no say in this matter. You people aren't even fulfilling the commandment to live in The Land, even though Israel gives you the Law of Return and Nefesh B'Nefesh rolls out the red carpet. How many of you hypocrites eat meat that someone ELSE has slaughtered for you? How many times do you toss out meat just because you don't like its taste? The Passover has to be wholly consumed, no animal flesh wasted.
51. Korban Pesach
Dina ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.06.11)
It's about time a prominent rabbi comes out with a psak that we should all perform Korban Pesach.... As much as I love animals, this is a commandment for all times and must be obeyed... enough of worrying about what the world is going to say!
52. #19 Steve
Yosi ,   Gilo   (04.06.11)
Sorry bud, ain't happening. YOU have to read the Tanach, starting with the Torah and maybe, just maybe you'll begin to understand.
53. big deal kill a goat
pini   (04.06.11)

54. Barbarick medevil rituals
Avi ,   Israel   (04.06.11)
Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu should crawl back in his cave where he belongs. Although we must give him credit where due, im sure many people will now realise how absurd this whole religious nonsence is and distance themselves further from jewdism. Bread roll anyone ?
55. Who freed you?
Richard Swartz   (04.06.11)
"We are being threatened that any movement on our part on the Temple Mount will launch the third world war… (But) we can free our souls of the horror of the gentiles, just like we freed ourselves before the Exodus." Wait. WHO delivered you from the Egyptians? (Hint: Exodus 6:6)
56. #31 Dovid
David ,   America   (04.06.11)
So, who cares what Rabbi allows what. Torah Commands it! There is no man who can overturn it. Not even Moshe! Forget what the Rabbi's say and what Torah Sh'bi'al'peh says and follow the Commandments as laid out very clearly in Torah sh'bi'Khtav. These Rabbi's add to Torah and take from Torah. They destroy Torah! You are following commandments of men.
57. Pesach sacrifice a stupid idea
Mark ,   Detroit USA   (04.06.11)
What an idea! Let Rabbi Eliyahu try sacrificing the Pesach sacrifice this year, right in front of the mosque, except don't endanger any of our soldiers lives by requiring that they stand next to the great 'event'. Let the Rabbi dodge the rocks and run for his life. If he survives, we'll see if he's out there again next year. Good luck Rabbi!!!
58. Pesach
Doug ,   USA   (04.06.11)
Maybe Yeshua was indeed the real Passover sacrifice. Do a search for Yeshua the Passover Lamb. Or read Isaiah chapter 53... Lila Tov..
59. Abraham is our father
Ypip ,   Canada   (04.06.11)
60. PS: SarahRachel #37
Steve   (04.06.11)
You wrote: "Blood does not atone for sin. This is a Christian idea, not a Jewish idea that blood atones for sin." Please let me quote from our Pentateuch (Torah). "For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement by reason of the life." How do you interpret this verse?
