1. it is not possible and he just proved it with his own life
(04.06.11)
now didnt he. so forget it. cause it is not going to happen, not with people who tell you they want you dead at any or all costs. those who really think this are total fools.
2.  just misunderstood Arabs
yehoshua Zionist ,   Earth   (04.06.11)
look the Arabs couldn't help themselves. They are the product of their environment. The Arabs are just feeling down and oppressed. I mean after losing five or six wars, I lose count, and having to be supported by the rest of the world you would fell depressed too. You're certainly going to kill the people that try to help you. I think that we should send in psychiatrists so we can help them work this out. I mean after all this is just a communications problem. NOT
3. I am sure,
Moshe ,   No consequence, us   (04.06.11)
are we not all, that the writer means "How terrible is this Gaza".
4. Haber
US_Exceptionalist   (04.06.11)
8000 missiles fired from Gaza but the hope of peace burned in your heart until the death of one anti-Israel half-Jew? Look around you, fool. The Muslim Brotherhood and the jihadis are taking over Algeria, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq, and Yemen. They have installed a Manchurian Candidate in the U. S. White House. Iran is the second coming of Hitler's Germany. Gaza is jihadi terrorist enclave. And you, Haber, think peace is possible? You need a shrink and a drink.
5. "The hope for peace was murdered"? Puhhh-lease.
Tahl   (04.06.11)
Mr. Haber, despite the fact that you and I do not agree on most topics, I still have reserved a minimal amount of respect for you, due to your past work with PM Rabin. And due to this minimal respect, I will do you the favor of refraining from voicing my personal opinion about this simplistic article. Instead I will simply present simple facts, and let the readers draw their own conclusions. Juliano Mer was not a man of peace, any more than Ismail Haniyeh or Tali Fahima are. He did nothing to bring the two sides together. As a matter of fact, he was fiercely anti-Israel, and constantly engaged in Israel-bashing and de-legitimizations. Some of his antics included voicing unconditional sympathy and support for Palestinian violence against Israel, refusing to condemn suicide bombers, declaring that Palestine exists from the Jordan to the sea, calling the world to boycott Israel, flashing his a** on stage in front of Holocaust survivors and asking them to kiss it, and declaring that Israeli Jews may go to hell for all he cares. I'm sure there were many other similar incidents. It truly baffles me, how the Israeli Left can overlook all of these spits in the face, and declare him a "man of peace" or a "bridge over the hatred" when all he did was to incite provocations and hatred against Israel. As for your assertion that "it’s not the people of New Zealand whom we have to make peace with" - I will respond by referring to the famous fable about the frog and the scorpion. Since our scorpion here has proven, time and time and time again - that it's IN HIS NATURE to kill, even at the cost of his own life - then by now, we can expect the frog to be wise enough to realize just how dangerous it is to cross the river with the scorpion, and simply choose not to do it for the time being. At least until the scorpion will have its sting clipped, and its bile taken out. P.S. Strange that your assertion "the hope for peace was murdered" is heard only now, in this particular incident. Were was this lamentation after a family of 5 Jews (including 3 infants) was brutally massacred by a Palestinian terrorist last month?
6. Liberal Media

Good one Tahl. I think your point was well made. Certainly better than the, and I use the word loosely, author....
7. Peace IS achievable !
Jules   (04.06.11)
But to get that result the developed countries must dispatch to the Islamic world several brigades of professional psychiatrists, not "peace-negotiators".
8. Humanity got killed in Jenin
I. Barr ,   USA   (04.06.11)
Juliano Mer-Khamis was born in Nazaret to Orna Mer, a Jewish activist for the rights of Palestinians and Saliba Khamis an Arab Israeli and a leader in the Israel Communist Party. Orna Mer came from a prominent Jewish family. Her father professor Gideon Mer was a leading Malaria researcher in Israel. Orna Mer who fought with Hagana in 1948 took a drastic turn to underline her commitment to coexistence between Jews and Arabs and married an Arab Israeli Saliba Khamis. As such she fought hard to justify her position both in the Jewish and Arab communities. I saw her in demonstrations, protests and strikes. After the 6 Day War she promoted education of children in the West Bank through an organization In the Defense of Children under Occupation/Care and Learning, and later established the Freedom Theatre in Jenin refugee camp. Juliano Mer-Khamis, her son continued his mother's work, a burning desire to create bridges between Israel and the Palestinians. The valiant intentions of mother and son ended when masked men, Hamas, killed not only a peace loving person but also humanity.
9. His death was a message
k ,   US   (04.06.11)
if you really believe that the Palestinians want peace you are fooling yourself, I find it odd the former Militant who he opened his theater was making accusations about who killed him right away This is there way of saying we do not want peace, it does not matter if you are a left wing Jew who wants peace with them, or a Right Wing Jew who hates them
10. Hope for: no more Julianos an no more like Haber . Amen.
tom ,   tel aviv   (04.06.11)
11. Those To Whom Evil Is Done
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (04.06.11)
We stand in silent fury at the death of a man who said he felt more Jewish in Jenin than anywhere else and who epitomised the struggle between Israel and Palestine. We are the children of the same land and we are doomed to fight over it, so it seems, But Juliano symbolised the refusal to give in to hatred, the rejection of TBs like all these from 1-5. Whether here or in the Galut they represent our doom and if we allow them to hold sway they will take us to the fate that Juliano met. He shouldn't have sacrificed himself for us all and we shouldn't be ready to give in to these blind haters, otherwise we end up like the one who killed Juliano, with no hope and no future.
12. Right on spot
Magnus Markussen ,   kolding, denmark   (04.06.11)
Right on spot Sir.
13. bull's eye, palis don't want to live in peace

14. The Evil Devil is gone
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (04.06.11)
This killer of hope, this hater of native people has finally found his end at the hands of those he claimed to represent.
15. They teach arabs hatred in school, they kill, any questions?
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (04.06.11)
16. Stop the bellyacking and hand wringing and get on
Al   (04.06.11)
with the project of building a Jewish Country for Jews. The Arabs will be Arabs till the end of time. They are incapable of being in the 21 century and so let it be. The world is passing them by and so should you. This misguided person paid with his life...move on and stop the piss fest about nothing. You Mr Haber are sounding pathetic.
17. RIP- Juliano
yael ,   israel   (04.06.11)

Anyone heard of Amy Biehl?
19. FALSE IDENTITY
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (04.06.11)
As usual Mr. Haber like all of his Liberal Globalist friends, like to sell themselves as martyrs for peace. No matter the damage and carnage done to our people they only show their false compassion to our peace loving neighbours and their fanatic supporters, who wish to destroy Israel. The murder of this actor, who in many ways symbolized the Zionist dream, of having the new Isreali identity, being half Communist and Muslim, destroying and refuting any Jewish roots, wil not change MrHaber and co. Like he wrote, "all people who believe in peace", putting a claim of superiority on his religion of peace, while ignoring the true face of Mer-Khamis. Knowing Ynet, Speaking of hope , I have no doubt that there is a 80% change that our Liberal fee thinking Censors at Ynet will not allow a TB published, from over the "greenline", because after all, we are opposed to their religion of peace and hope. After all Mr Haber and co. and his beloved Mr. Mer-Khamis are the true light among the nations
20. We Sow Hope.
Salma ,   Palestine   (04.06.11)
Mr. Haber, Yigal Amir killed Rabin on behalf of a Jewish extremist group and not on behalf of all "Israelis", someone else Killed Juliano Mer-Khamis on behalf of another extremist group and not on behalf of all Palestinians . We will never give up hope......We can't give up hope.
21. #20 Well done Salma - first thing you wrote I agree with!
Talula ,   Israel   (04.06.11)
22. 14. You are not 11
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (04.06.11)
How many of us are there? Stop using my name and twisting my language. I appeal to the Ynet moderator to ban this intentional duplication of names.
23. And what do they teach in the settlements and Hebron?
Baruch Jamili ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (04.06.11)
Don't you know the children are taught to hate and Paleastinians are killed? Don't be so blinkered.
24. Murdered by his own countrymen
Ilan ,   Ariel   (04.06.11)
It isn't as if it is so uncommon for Palestinians to execute someone for one perceived offense or another. This is simply noteworthy because the Palestinian murdered in this case was at one time an Israeli. This is a two-fold tragedy: one in that Mer-Khamis turned his back on the country of his birth and allied himself with our enemies, and secondly that his adopted countrymen saw fit to execute him.
25. Menachem Ussishkin was a great Zionist
historian   (04.06.11)
He wasn't some fringe nut whose name can be soiled by either right or left extremists,
26. Never been in a settlement or Hebron
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (04.06.11)
but somehow some know exactly what is taught there they have never been in an Arab class either but they swear that Arabs teach love toward Jews all the while Arabs plan their murder
27. Haber's true stripes!
Art ,   Haifa   (04.06.11)
He pretends to be a Labor Party Mapai social democrat. But he writes this rubbish when an anti-Semitic terrorist communist is rubbed out by Islamists! Not a word though about the Fogel family! And then he will want us to take him seriously?
28. Real hope for peace lies in resounding Israeli victory.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.06.11)
Real hope for peace lies in resounding Israeli victory over "Palestinians" with no concessions. Just as Europe and Asia enjoy peace today because the WW II Allies pounded Nazi Germany and Japan into unconditional surrender. Historically, long periods of peace follow resounding military victories. Victory is Israel's true path to peace.
29. to #20 one problem julian wasn't murdered
ghostq   (04.06.11)
because of political point of view, he was murdered because he was jewish. and served the IDF. sad but true.
30. to #21 you need to learn history dear
ghostq   (04.06.11)
there were peace offeres to the palis by Israel side after the murder of Rabin, the latest was offered by Ulmert, in 2008, but palis refused yet again, Israelis never stopped trying even under Rockets, to go to negotiation table, but palis refused again, and last but not least this isn't political murder, but the fact that julian is jewish.
