31. THANKS TO BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.09.11)
He encouraged and instigated the overthrow of Mubarak, who had kept the Gaza border fairly secure, preventing the passing of most arms through the mutual Gaza/Egypt border Murbarak has been tossed out, other factions have taken control of Egypt, allowing or encouraging the passing of weaponry into Gaza That’s why the heavier weapons are now being used against Israel In my opinion, I believe that Egypt will become openly involved, in supplying additional arms and troops to Hamas
32. The Solution
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (04.09.11)
Time for Israel to take the territority that is being used to rocket Israel. Tell all civilians to leave these areas. Flatten them. Then annex them.
33. hidden agendas
galilean ,   Israel   (04.09.11)
I agree with talkbackers on articles dealing with this sudden escalation of attacks from Gaza, that something else is afoot. And that it's extremely important now for Israel to hold back on retaliations. It seems also that the government is also aware of this and is following suit. Even Hamas's immediate demands for Israel to stop attacking them is out of place. Something about all of this reeks of some kind of conspiracy. Something is different this time around. The upheavels in our neighborhood are providing some fertile ground for 'anything is possible' situation.
34. @#24: Hamas rules the entire Gaza strip since June 2007,
Bat Zion ,   Central Israel   (04.09.11)
when it conquered it from the Palestinian Authority. There is no Israeli rule in Gaza, it is a free Palestinian entity since September 2005. Following the constant rocket and mortar shelling from Gaza to Israel, backed and approved by the Quartet, we set a naval blockade in 2009 on the Hamas regime, to stop the ammunition flow from Iran into Gaza. The Blockade over Gaza will be lifted as soon as they fulfil the three conditions the Quartet set: 1. Recognise Israel. 2. Recognise past agreements. 3. Renounce violence. Israel supplies Gaza with food, water, power and medicine (including medical treatment inside Israel). Now, what did we sow, Bernie?
35. let's all hope and pray that iron dome gets cloned and that
(04.09.11)
it does not quit, and they d not hit it with an anti-thingy missle to take it out, we need more of them and right quick
36. Iron Dome is the problem
Sagi   (04.09.11)
and not the solution. The concept that Israel needs to develop and activate means of defense instead of means of offense is the problem. This concept has been at the root of the conflict for over sixty years. If Israel were to take the initiative and go on the offensive up to the point of total capitulation, then, and only then, would the conflict end. Israel must enter Gaza and destroy Hamas and all its institutions. No wanton destruction of property or people other than those responsible. Two minutes after capitulation Israel must leave, no "occupation" no military rule. Free the poor folks of Gaza from their overlords and free Israel from terrorism, free the Arab world from the burden it bears called the Palestinian problem.
37. #3,6 Israel: Hamas is responsible for terrorist attacks
observer ,   Egypt   (04.09.11)
weakening Hamas means that Hamas will not be able to control other factions. The irony is that Israel's targeting of aHamas leader came after few hours of Hamas declaration of its commitment to cease fire together with other factions as long as Israel commits itself to. ISRAEL DOES NOT WANT PEACE is the bottom line.
38. The IDF's inaction demoralizes the population
Fillipo   (04.09.11)
There should be no reason for this, sirens in Rishon, fools apes and monkeys, you could blow 'Aza to smithereens in 4 seconds but you refuse because you care more about the Arabs than your own people. Idiots.
39. Overdue
Yakov   (04.09.11)
Israel needed to go into Gaza at the time Hamas took it over. The whole Gaza affair was a mess from the time Jews were removed from there. We have Oslo to thank.
40. #24 PLEASE
galilean ,   Israel   (04.09.11)
PLEASE stop insulting our intelligence. Israel is not a perfect country. Can you name any country that is perfect? Unfortunately our Arab cousins have decided to take the path of the victim, and by doing so totally lose all of their self empowerment. They cannot take the path of freedom until they learn this. So again, while Israel and Israelis are far from perfect, we want nothing more than to live in peace with our neighbors. Perhaps try reading up on some of our history before you make your observations.
41. 36 doesnt get it
(04.09.11)
ya see, its this way....because the world gets mad at us for fighting back, we have to show cause why we are goning on the defensive so that we dont get bad press in the end. see if there was not all this bad press in the world against us, what you suggest would be rational thing to do. but the world today is not rational and sane. and i do not know why, do you? seems to me this has been going on for thousands of years now. maybe you can tell me why these wars keep on going, is it jsut to decrease the surplus population, to drive the economy, or is it some other issue that has not reared it s ugly head that i am not aware about.
42. thanks for the iron dome, mr president... :)
eporue ,   europe   (04.09.11)
43. #37
Ben ,   New york   (04.09.11)
Oh yeah because I forgot didn't Hamas launch a RIDICULOUS absolutely RIDICULOUS amount of rockets. what if I were to send even 10 rockets to your neighborhood. Imagine how many they had to bare.. Keeping that in mind- If I punch you and say ok truce we wont hit each other starting now. Now that doesn't seem very right... I'm pretty sure you would be pretty pissed especially if someone you were not acquaintances with were to do that. In fact I would just beat that person up right there.
44. To: No. 24
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.09.11)
Hate to take the wind out of your sails, but Israel withdrew entirely from Gaza in August 2005. Learn the facts before launching yourself on absurd rants.
45. Time
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (04.09.11)
It's time for Cast Goldstone...
46. to #16, Kol Hakavod
tintin ,   northern galilee   (04.09.11)
you took the feelings right out of me and posted them in perfect words! couldnt say it better myself...Hashem give us strength..
47. I'M SURPRISED THEIR NOT ALL...
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.09.11)
In hiding, it see ms the leaders of Hamas and these other groups are always the first to go into hiding. But I'm glad Israel was able to nail a few more leaders. Keep it up Israel, nobody is buying the "Israeli Aggression" crap any more. There where always be a few like bernie at #24, the antisemitic will always be there. But his remarks were laughable, old and tired. Israel stole the land, right! Nobody believes that crap either. There simply are to many pictures and history that proves that stuff to be nothing but lies. Like people starving in Gaza, yea, right! The Arab narrative has been long ago completely discredited. They think if they keep repeating the lie, they will get converts. But to much information exists on the web for that to fly anymore. It;s just so easy to disprove all the Arab LIES NOW.
48. #37 Dont worry about Israel
rivka   (04.09.11)
Worry about El Baradei, the errand boy of Ahmadinejad, who will soon rule over Egypt, when Cairo becomes a suburb of Teheran,Hamas and Hizbullah will claim Egypt as their land. Arafat was Egyptian, and born on Egyptian soil - so the "palistinians" would have a legitimate claim to Egypt.
49. Do the math retards
Gil ,   US   (04.09.11)
the accusations that the IDF indiscriminately targeted civilians can be dis-proven with simple math. Assuming IDF's attack was a random bombing of Gaza, resulting in 1400 casualties, out of a population of 1,700,000 that's 0.0008 of the total population. The number of militants estimated to have taken part in the fighting was about 7,000. That implies, that with indiscriminate random targeting, only 5 militants would have been killed in total. (0.0008 general killing rate x 7000 militants =5) However, the actual number of militants killed was about 700, 140 times the number expected in random targeting. that's 14,000% deviation from random. It proves a pattern of concentrated targeting against militants, rather than random civilians. For the militants to constitute just 1/3 of 1 percent of the total population, and yet suffer nearly half of all causulties, is impossible without careful attention to target selection. The main cause of civilian causulties was far more likely to be proximity to militants, due to Hamas's negligent policies, rather than some "criminal intent" by the IDF. But who needs the fact when when the UN is in the business of fabricating blood libels...
50. Iron Dome is useless
Peter ,   Auckland New Zealand   (04.09.11)
Iron Dome, aka "hitting a bullet with a bullet" is not a serious defence system, it's just for the media & the sheeple. How effective would it be in a barrage of 20, 30, 50 or 100+ contemporaneously missiles? Not much. Thank God Israel has Scalar Tesla Dome Shields that can be immediately errected over key assets (including cities) at a moments notice, that is the REAL defence shield, not that pathetic Iron Dome toy.
51. # 50 Auckland
Sagi   (04.09.11)
No defense system is the correct answer. Offense is the only solution.
52. Don't Blame Obama
Gooffy ,   Ottawa, Canada   (04.09.11)
You can't blame Obama for any of this. He hasn't made a decision yet, let alone one that would cause a war!
53. #50;Peter, You Underestimate it
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.09.11)
My understanding is if 50+ missiles come in the "Iron Dome' automatically computes all the trajectories and only fires on the rockets that would cause damage to vital areas. Ignoring the rockets that will hit desert or vacant area's. Right now the Arabs...not realizing it...are allowing Israel to fine tune this new defense system. So the Arabs firing just 4-10 rockets at a time, are just target practice for Israel. Let the Arabs think they have the advantage. The Arab goal, both, Hamas and Hezbollah, is to be able to pepper Israel daily for at least 2 months everyday. That is one of their key strategies, so they've built up their rocket inventory, to accomplish that. Trust me, Israel is ready for that, they are aware of what the terrorist groups want to do. But if there is a another war, watch the IDF and IAF response. This time the UN will have no mandate to stop Israel. The West busy fighting in 3 different countries now, will stay out of it. The USA will provide Israel with all the weapons they need. Since Israel is the only country that NEVER asks for other armies to fight its battles. All they need are the weapons.
54. Lol #23 Maxine Ashkelon
Mia Bella!   (04.09.11)
LOL Maxine, I really did enjoy your sense of humor especially where you wrote "my husband fell back to sleep in no time". I loved it. You truly are married to a typical man, and like myself have a very good sense of humor!
55. # 28, 29, 34, 40 & 44...GOTCHA!
:: Matty Groves ,   Dublin, Ireland   (04.09.11)
You didn't REALLY think that post #24 was from someone named "Bernie Thau", did you? You Jews are so easy. Can't you tell it's me, using names like Sol Jacobs, Bernie Thau, Barry Grau, Howard Hochman and others that I find on various Jewish facebook pages? Sorry, boys and girls, but it's just little ol me, Matty Groves from Dublin. Looks like you owe Bernie an apology, huh? Oh, and if you really want to see some of my best work, check in on LA times, where I spew some of my best anti-semitic comments under a multitude of different usernanes.
56. #37 observer...?
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.09.11)
This is one of your weirder twists and turns, to warp Israel's targeting of Hamas, into Israel not wanting peace. The fact (not "irony") is that Hamas broke their own 'cease fire', shot rockets including an anti tank missle at a school bus [no comment? I didn't think so], and then tried to hide from retaliation behind a "cease fire". "Cease fire" to them is only a lower rate of rocket firing anyway, it is not a true cease fire.
57. #37 DELUDED NON-OBSERVER
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.09.11)
You don't know from beans A commitment to cease fire so they will have time to reload before the next volleys of rockets & mortar rounds They've pulled the same stunt time and again; it's as boring as your ignorant posts The bottom line is you're a fool that either pretends he knows what the situation is all about or just lies about what's going on, which I have proven a number of times
58. #55; Matty, WHY DO YOU THINK...
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.09.11)
That being an instigator is so clever? So you write heinous and false remarks, hoping to elicit an anger response, then apparently get some sort of joy from that? What do you call somebody who enjoys inflicting pain upon others, a SADIST. Why your proud of that, only you can answer. Certainly you have proved no point? When you write a lie, and elicit a response to correct the lie, what have you proved? That your clever? Is that what you believe? Just because you have used what you consider to be silly names, means what exactly? That Matty Groves is superior, in intellect, to all the Israeli defenders? It appears you proved the opposite is true, you have some sad need to build your deflated ego. It shows the opposite, typical of the anti-Israel writer, you lied to mislead others, and laughed about it in some dark back room, or with some of your friends. Maybe you hurt some feelings, something all Sadists revel in, good luck! BTW Matty, you are so clever and brilliant, there, feel better.
59. Gooffy 52
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (04.09.11)
Unfortunately being weak and indecisive often leads to war.
60. #55 Matty
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.09.11)
The answers are to the posts, not the name. It has nothing to do with you. Understand?
