Why would there be a Passover service at the synagogue?

this article is so wrong it makes me laugh...of course this is a hate crime, a homemade explosive device was planted at a beit chabad...and why were they having a passover service??? passover begins on the 18th at sundown

There was no Passover service. It's two weeks too early. The man who is accused is a local schnorrer who frequents the street in front of the synagogue. If he set off the device two weeks later, he could have claimed that he was burning chametz. Actually, the device went off during shacharit on a Thursday morning. They ended up finishing the service in the street - with the Torah. I talked to one of the rabbis who was there..
