Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.10.11)
Israel has pretty good intelligence on the ground in some rather surprising areas of the world. Why not publish some photographs of the aftermath of an RAF bombing run in Afghanistan or Iraq? All those dead civilians! Let's see what the BBC has to say then. Israel is a sovereign state, with an affirmative duty to protect and defend its citizens. That's the overarching obligation. Who cares what the rest of the world may think or say?
2. STOP donations to "palestinians"
Roy ,   Miami   (04.10.11)
"Palestinians" are the largest receivers of international aid on the planet. "Palestinians" receive 7.7 BILLION USD annually. Oh wait, "Palestinians" are MEANT to receive that money, but in reality their corrupt government spends it all to make weapons to launch at innocent Israeli civilians. STOP donations to "Palestinians" until Hamas is replaced by a government that cares more for its people, than for the destruction of Israel.
3. What would be of them without Israel?
Keren ,   IL-BR   (04.10.11)
I guess they would eat each other. I guess the world would be a world of cannibals.
4. Merci, Le Monde
Tahl   (04.10.11)
Finally a newspaper with enough decency and integrity to report a balanced picture.
5. now is the time to eliminate hamas!!
ralph   (04.10.11)
6. typo 10 - 10s
a   (04.10.11)
... some 10 Qassam rockets and Grad missiles... tens of rockets right?
7. BBC anti-Israel bias
David ,   Montreal, Canada   (04.10.11)
The British Bullshit Corporation's anti - Israel bias is so evident that anyone who considers its reporting to be anything other than propaganda needs therapy.
8. Sarah....shame on you ..
Rayan ,   US   (04.10.11)
Sarah....when you were ...when we .still few Jews still left were waiting to be send to the gas chambers by the Germans..what happened if not Russians, Americans. British were not came to defeat the Germans and rescue us ??....of course you will not care now what the rest of the world think ..as you are now putting all your effort to kill the Gazans..rather than saving our own population from disaster by avoiding a peace deal ...so you are scared if rest of the world knows your hidden action ( how many Gazans you have already killed) .. is int it ? Shame on you when you think and say we don’t care what rest of the world think…as you as you are a messiah deciding the fate of our people. although the world knows so ..even its true that many Israeli on daily basis are hurt by rockets from Gaza …but rest the world don’t properly believe us and are worried about what we ("sovereign state" according to you) are actually doing with the people whose land we occupy and keep them in ghetto and don’t allow to have freedom...
9. #8 Rayan
Arthur ,   SF, CA   (04.10.11)
Why won't you worry about people whose land you occupy and keep them on reservations? The Land of Israel belong to the Jews. PS - The Russians and the Brits were fighting for their lives in the WWII - and not for the sake of saving European Jewery
10. In Israel a school bus was gunned down by Hamas. In Syria,
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.10.11)
40 demonstrators were gunned down by the Syrian government, but little do we hear or read about it, either in the BBC or elsewhere. Only when the Jews stand up to defend themselves and their young the world international press is upset. One must wonder, why...??
11. to #7 true so true.
ghostq   (04.10.11)
12. Here we go again!
Rachel ,   Israel   (04.10.11)
They kill our children in their beds. They blast a school bus and yet we are the aggressor. Really?! As far as I am concerned the IDF can go right ahead and unleash hell on them!
13. BBC Reporting?
Spencer ,   Israel   (04.10.11)
Should we expect anything better from this Hamas PR representative? That's all the BBC is...a second rate anti Israel "news" service dedicated to championing the Palestinian terrorists.
14. who cares about worlds opinion!!!!
Robert ,   farmington   (04.10.11)
I'm in agreement with post #1 the fact is the worlds opinion is always one sided , leaning toward the terrorist state , the fact is israel does not need the united nations , russia , china , england , or america to protect them , the fact is israel has the lord watching over them if the pals dont want blood shed they should stop the rocket attacks on the jewish state.
15. hmmm, Don't Worry, Guys
Salma ,   Palestine   (04.10.11)
Jewish 'al-Jazeera' is on the way ; )
16. to Rayan 8
john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (04.10.11)
Your post is written by somebody who has learned English from comic books and a poor attempt at impersonating a Jew.Israel is a sovereign state and does not occupy other peoples land-and what ghettoes are you talking about.Where?
17. Not a convenient time to bash the IDF
Joe ,   Canada   (04.10.11)
It would be delicate to focus on the relatively low number of casualties in Gaza & accuse the IDF of war crimes when hundreds of civilians are butchered in the Ivory Coast civil war of the 2 presidents & when the rulers of Lybia, Syria, Barhain shoot or bomb their civilian opponents in a try to achieve submission. Also everyone in the west is busy worrying about the rising price of gas at the pump as a result of the upheavals in the Arab producing countries. So Israel is not in the current front page articles of the media.
18. "Our people", Rayan?
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (04.10.11)
You reside in the USA and appear to have little knowledge regarding what happens here in Israel, our history in the Mideast and the political situation as currently happening so you strike out at Sarah B. who really is knowledgeable and aware. As to your "professed" sentiment regarding "our people", you might wish to take a crack at "our" ancient history as well. Then you would come to grips with the fact that Jews formed a warrior nation just as Israel is today. Then compare this to the comfortable Jewry in the USA where you come from. You have a "Galut" mentality and shouldn't be sticking your nose into Israeli affairs. The Gentile community won't love you any better for railing against our nation. It's called the "Stockholm Syndrome", Rayan; look it up!
19. "Global coverage focuses on IDF strikes"
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (04.10.11)
"Serious escalation in southern Israel pushed aside in world's leading newspapers, websites in favor of ongoing fighting in Libya, Syrian riots" So, which is it? Your headline is a contradiction. Of course the BBC and others LOVE to bash Israel as they are totally pro Arab and kowtow to their Arab shareholders. Dead Jews are not important but dead terroists are their heroes. What do we expect from anchors who call terrorists "militants"? In future YnetNews should refer to those who killed 54 Brits in the 7/7 attacks and those who carried out 9/11 also as "militants" with the chief militant being Osama bin Laden.
20. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.10.11)
I am the child of Jewish concentration camp survivors. I can tell you with certainty that of all the reasons that World War II was fought, the rescue of the Jews was not one of them. If anything, none of the Allies were particularly interested in the rescue of the Jews. The Allies knew what was happening to the Jews of Europe from the ENIGMA codebreakers at Bletchley Park -- yet they claimed they could not compromise ENIGMA by bombing a single railroad track leading to any of the camps. In fact, the British did everything in their power to convince the Americans that the best point of invasion of continental Europe was France and not, as the Americans wanted, through the Balkans -- the soft underbelly of Europe. The British were looking ahead to the end of the War; they did not want to see Jewish emigration to Palestine and they did not want to see their absolute hold on the vast Arab oil reserves compromised. In fact, following the war, when vessels carrying Jewish refugees from Europe attempted to run the blockade and reach Palestine, do you know what happened when those vessels were intercepted? I will tell you. The Jews were promptly transferred to brand new British concentration camps in Cyprus. Wanted Nazi war criminals were absorbed into the United States before the Jews were! Shame on you for not knowing that. But you're not Jewish, are you? No, you haven't fooled anyone. Yours isn't even a credible attempt. Israel is a sovereign state. Hamas is not. By the way, you have it completely backwards -- it is the Arabs who are illegally squatting on Jewish land; not the other way around. And the last I checked, the Arabs in the West Bank are under the control of the Palestine Authority and the Arabs in Gaza are under the control of Hamas. So it would seem logical that if you have issues with "freedom" for Arabs living in either, you would have to take them up with the Palestine Authority in the former instance and Hamas in the latter. Good luck with that one.
21. To: David at No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.10.11)
Bravo! Not a half bad idea. Given that the Moslem population of the British Isles is growing in leaps and bounds, I am sure that the Islamofascist in England consider the presence of Brits to be an affront, and the July 7 attacks to have been carried out by so-called "freedom fighters."
22. BBC works for the crown...
Gabriel ,   Jerusalem   (04.10.11)
The exact same crown that created this conflict in the first place. Off course they will be biased. They want no responsibility for their centuries of greed and imperialism. They are the ones that conquered and named this land Palestine.
23. As I said
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (04.10.11)
As I said so many times in the past, no matter what Israel does to protect their citizens, no matter who started the "incidents", no matter who is right or who is wrong, the world media will continue its biased reporting. So, why should you care about international so called reporting? Do what needs to be done and do it soon, before its too late!
24. is it my imagination or do headline & lead contradict?
oferdesade ,   israel   (04.10.11)
25. The BBC is disgusting !
Jonathan   (04.10.11)
Super biased, misinforming, worse than Al-Jazeera ! Indeed, would be important to see the RAF results in Afganistan... for starters.
26. British press
Susie ,   Scotland   (04.10.11)
The problem with the British press is the fact they don't want to upset the growing Muslim population in this country. They cannot control them when they group together in mass so they appease them and protray Israel as the evil heavy handed aggressor who seeks to destroy and grab at the poor innocent Palistinians and thier land. Quite ironic when we the British are hammering muslim countries all over the world very far away from our borders.
27. to #22 correction, the Brit crown got own
ghostq   (04.10.11)
media, the BBC is British national network media, but since the main editor is Muslim this is what you get.
28. Sarah #20
KO ,   London   (04.10.11)
Correct me if I'm mistaken but I believe that it was Britain that wanted to invade from the south of Europe and the US were keen on the north. In fact the misnomer 'soft underbelly of Europe' was coined by Churchill.
29. #20 Sarah B
bob ,   NZ   (04.10.11)
I agree that none of the allies did anything to help the Jews. And though I don't see the connection between the plight of the Jews and allied invasion plans I think you might have mixed up who wanted to do what. The Americans wanted to invade France in 1943 not the British as you suggest. The British fought this idea strongly because they knew it would be suicide to invade France in 1943. They persuaded the Americans to land in North Africa ( operation Torch ) instead, and to plan for an invasion of France in 1944. Churchill was responsible for the idea of invading Europe through its soft underbelly ( Italy ). This occured in 1943. It was the Americans who needed persuading that the soft underbelly idea was worthwhile.
30. BBC spin
Sam M ,   UK   (04.10.11)
An article today on the BBC's website... referring to gaza includes the following... 'It's run by the militant group Hamas'. Other groups previously labelled as 'militants' by the BBC include British trade unionists campaigning for higher wages. And on the Iron Dome.... (No doubt through gritted teeth) 'The system is manufactured by the Israeli company, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, though much of the funding may well come from US military aid'. No praise at all for a great technological breakthrough by Israel. It must be all that Americam money then!
