for excuses as to why the new regime cannot deal with the issues that actually bothered the protesters
2. Well duh! Silly Arabs discover their dictators robbed them.
Brian Cohen Judean P ,   Judean Peoples Front   (04.10.11)
Surprise! Not. Every single Arab country is run by despots whose job it is to steal as much money for themselves and their families and cronies as they can. Every single Arab country. They all poo pood us for years and spit on democracy, but now they see how their "leaders" are in reality thieving, cheating slave drivers. Good luck with the trials and lawsuits, and maybe you can leverage some change to the corrupt Swiss who like having all that criminal money sitting in their banks.
3. WOW, $700 BILLION
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.10.11)
Well I'd say that breaks the Yasir Arafat record, I think he only stole about $3 Billion from his people. I'm impressed!! Heck, when Arafat was on his death bed do you think it was because they loved him? Heck no, it was he and his wife were the only ones who knew where the money was.
4. Making a scapegoat of Mubarak.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (04.10.11)
This is,by the way, one of the reasons no Arab ruler gives up power in a normal electoral process. They know they will immediately become a scapegoat for all the ills of the country. Mubarak was undoubtably corrupt but does anyone think he was more corrupt than the entire upper echelon of the Egyptian military? Or of the other politicans? Or bureaucrats? Arab countries are corrupt, far more than other underdeveloped countries. There is corruption even in Western gov'ts. although it is usually well-disguised & often made legal by unscrupulous legislators. But, it stretches the imagination to believe that Mubarak stole $700 billion. Egypt has two major problems - Islam & mismanagement. Getting rid of Mubarak will essentially change nothing, more likely, it will make it worse.

The Mubaraks (Gamal & Alaa) have been blessed with $225 million in bribes to estalishing the deal. The Mubaraks means literally in Arabic the Blessed Persons.

11. Mubarak and the missing $$$
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (04.10.11)
"According to the Washington Post, the claims are the most sweeping to date against Mubarak. The sum of the assets alleged to be appropriated by the Mubarak family — more than $700 billion — far exceeds earlier estimates and might be wildly exaggerated. Previous figures for the amount allegedly stolen by the Mubaraks range from $1 billion to $70 billion. " And where is the evidence that these are the amounts of money that are missing ? Allegations of assets ?! I want specific evidence .

Yunan Amram ,   Israel   (04.10.11)
Netenyahu was caught with his hand in the cookie jar trying to steal a few thousand lousy dollars in double billing... Why can't he be as ambitious as Mubarak? lol
14. Really interesting Planning
Kazim Ali ,   Kut, Iraq   (04.10.11)
It reminds me of former Iraqi president. Saddam. Hussain , everyone was convinced that he stole billion and zillions until they did not find. Any thing . I suspect his sons made some money but the figures mentioned are more than Egyptian budget. For more than 15 years , so it is way far fatched, and probably # 1 is not far from the mark as the new regime prepares for new failures and escape goats, it is called eraly planning Arabic way .
15. Exaggeration
Pedro ,   Brazil   (04.13.11)
Dozen billions of dollars I believe. But hundreds billion diollars is exaggeration.
