there are enough domes. We need 6 more. Buy them with israeli money and then balance the account when the american money comes in since they are partners in it though we did the R & D. If the US doesn't pony up, then tell them to get lost. Do not let ehud barak succumb to pressure and sell the iron dome to russia or its satellites. Barak cannot take pressure of land battles and would sell the iron dome to russia on its false promise not to sell s-500 system to syria which they would reverse in the dark of night. they are not to be trusted. Bibi- do yourself a favour. move barak to a desk job and switch yaalon to defense. When shalom who is weak appears like a hawk compared to barak who resembles olmert, then barak's days in defence are over. he has no stomach for it. get rid of him.

The impact in the public is one thing, however behind the doors where the global security players are, this is most definitely a game changer. Not a single European nation has such technology which opens the door to speculation concerning "what else" Israel has. Most certainly the openess of the Iron Dome to the media hides much more significant advances in Israeli Defense Systems. The field has been more than leveled when the big players see how capable Israel is in defending itself More responsibly than any other nation (remember the giant segments of missiles the patriot would scatter throughout populated areas: to think Israel is not developing a larger system for huge rockets would be a severe miscalculation). This event clearly shows why the US invests so much in Israel: american tax layers should learn to shut their mouths concerning the financial support Israel recieves: it benefits the US enormously and leads to greater security for their citizens. The UN, EU and the Arab nations are surely stunned at this achievement: NO fragments, zero collateral damage: no lives lost and citizens defended: a far cry from Britains intentional targeting of civians during WW2 (uh, just like Hamas!). Israel has just outdone every nation on planet earth concerning creating the most responsible defense system ever. Kudos to Israel: the naysayers can go to hell. Chai Yisrael.

This is a great achievement. Now we need to develop another system called 'thanks we don't want that" as soon as a missile is intercepted, a guided rocket turns its course back to the sender........

AWESOME!!!
6. Now tax Gaza electricity to pay for the rockets...

7. Order the new batteries already and a lot
jason white ,   afula, israel   (04.10.11)
more interceptors! These morons in government always sit around and throw the bull. They talk a lot and do very little.
8. next stage: iron dome 2 - sends a missile to the location
(04.10.11)
of which the rockets were lunched from, with no human interference. Gaza militants should know that by firing at us, they've pretty much lit the fuse on a missile heading their way.
9. hamas can beat even the most hi-tec
zionist forever   (04.10.11)
Iron Dome might be able to shoot down anything they got with a 100% hit rate. Problem is each interceptor cost around $40,000. Hamas have 40,000 rockets. If the rockets are being shot down then Hamas will retaliate by sending larger barrages of rockets to defeat Iron Dome with economics .. these guys are no fools. In the last couple of days the IDF has spent $320,000 shooting down rockets. You can buy a Merkava for $5 million. The only viable solution is not spending money shooting down rockets its to carry out a full scale military operation to smash Hamas and their arms dumps.

12. one of a kind system?
honey bunch ,   far away   (04.10.11)
before one gets carried away by the brigadier's perhaps understandable enthusiasm, one should perhaps not forget, the us patriot advanced capability 3system, the us aegis combat system, the us terminal high altitude area defense system, the russian s-300, 400 and 500, the chinese hq-9/10/15/16 systems (based initially on russian 300 design but way beyond now), which also have anti-satellite and anti-ballistic capability, [nb the chinese are not white europeans and or christians or moslems]. india, france, japan and taiwan also have comparable operational systems, which can do all the arrow does and more. this however does not detract from the elation of achievement, but puts it into sombre perspective i hope.
13. watch this one carefully
observer ,   Egypt   (04.10.11)
and don't be distracted by the other 15 rockets which have just hit Israel without interception. only 8 rockets out of 120 were intercepted.
14. You must be so thick headed!
Maurice ,   #13 observer   (04.10.11)
People here have been saying again again that the Iron Dome is activated only for those projectiles that may end up in populated areas. This is a smart invention. Either your kind can not even comprehend that such things can be achieved, or else you really are thick headed!
15. #13 Observer - Proof of Arab Illogic and Stupidity
meir elazar   (04.11.11)
Our systems use Israeli Brilliant Logic to determine which rockets pose a threat to our population and deploy to save our valuable Israeli lives. We are much smarter than Arab terrorists that shoot aimlessly trying to kill any Israeli that they can. We watch their rockets fall harmlessly in the unpopulated areas while our airforce fighters, drones, and ground forces fire with deadly accuracy killing the terrorist caught in the act of launching the rockets. The end result is one Israeli killed and lots of dead terrorists. So much for your Arab logic.
16. Iron Dome is not the solution to your problem.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (04.11.11)
Sure, it helps save lives but what are you going to do about Hamas and the arsenal they are building up? Are they no longer threats now that you have Iron Dome?
17. As good as it seems
Yossef   (04.11.11)
it cannot be the solution. Too expansive and who want to live this way ? No the solution is : seal the border, recognize Gaza as an independent state and declare war at the first rocket. Then, reinvest Gaza and ask for an international force to replace us after few years of cleaning. Or give the egyptian Gaza back to the egyptians if they want it.
18. #14 I agree with you
observer ,   Egypt   (04.11.11)
the 4 hit populated areas warrant not Israel to complaint. Israel is smarter because it didn't bear the trouble of complaining.
19. TO ''OBSERVER'' AT 13
(04.11.11)
you call yourself OBSERVER. but you have't observed anything ,nor absorbed anything. MAN YOUARE VERY SLOW . don't you OBSERVE the system is designed to calculate in seconds the trajectory of incoming missiles ,and would know which ones are going to hit homes or civilians ,and which ones ARE GOING TO JUST LAND IN THE DIRT ,or in a palestinian area . so it fires accordingly .it shoots down all missiles heading for civilians .and would LET the others MOST .land in a remote field somewhere .NO NEED TO WASTE INTERCEPTORS on them . you're not too bright are you EGYPTIAN . ibet if the system was in your hand ,you'd probably use up all your interceptors in one day ,firing at all things things you see in the sky , INCLUDING BIRDS ,DUCKS, GEESE .WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T QUIT YOU JOB TO JOIN THE MILITARY .
20. #12 100% one of a kind
Mike ,   The Netherlands   (04.11.11)
You clearly dont know what you are talking about. All the missiles you listed are useful to hit a big missiles like the Scud's but completely useless for the much smaller one like the grad rocket. To compare: hitting a flying airplane is much easier than a flying bullet. Well, the Israeli achieve almost the impossible: destroying a big bullet in the air before it hits the civilian target. Kudos to Israel !!
21. TO ''OBSERVER'' AT 13
(04.11.11)
you don't seem TO ''OBSERVE ,NOR ABSORB '' much if anything . you'd probaly fire up all your interceptors in one day , then WONDER what to do next ,but wait for ALLAH to send you more . you might even shoot them at ANYTHING THAT FLIES. BIRDS ,DUCKS , GEESE . AND ESPECIALLY AT CIVILIAN AIRPLANES . GOOD BYE .
22. "Cost" of the missile
Hansje   (04.11.11)
There are people here who compare the cost of a Kassam missile (200 dollar) to an Iron Dome missile (40000 - 70000 dollar). This equation is erroneous: people forger that revalidation of injured people cost millions, and if Israel decides to go into full military action, this will cost billions of dollars. So, its in fact ...very cheap!
23. 8. next stage: iron dome 2 ,...
split ,   US   (04.11.11)
So many idiots in one chicken coop,. It takes $50.000.00 rocket to shut down 1 out of 18 $15.00 flying gutters an alarm sirens are is still going off and people are running for bunkers ,.
24. You people are good....
Marco ,   Spain   (04.11.11)
Best photoshop I have ever seen...lol
25. Before you people start mazal toving each other...
Marco ,   Spain   (04.11.11)
Don't you think for a minute, what kind of a missile stands still in the sky waiting for your Macho Iron Dome? Still I must say that Isra-wood is improving...
26. #24 The best photoshop job ever
Cynthia ,   USA   (04.11.11)
Iran's missile launch.
27. #25 Technologically deficient Marco
Cynthia ,   USA   (04.11.11)
We know technology is not Iran or Hezbollah's strength. And perhaps how it works should remain Israel's secret. But stay tuned for Iron Dome 2 with a special boomerang function.
28. To: No. 23
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.11.11)
Don't worry, dear. The cost of operating and maintaining Iron Dome will be deducted from Israeli payments to the "Palestine" Authority. In the chicken coop to which you refer, you are absolutely the cock of the walk. Good buddy there Marco, too -- for that very "special" relationship, of course. No Jews, though, sorry.
29. #25 Dont you think for a minute...
Mike ,   The Netherlands   (04.11.11)
...that the camera is following the rocket full automatically? And this makes you think that the rocket stands still. Yet another great achievement.
30. ONE OF A KIND SYSTEM !!!!!!!!
Alex ,   USA   (04.11.11)
It's true...you are far away.
