1. I think the leftest of Europe should cover up & protest this
ER   (04.11.11)
After all they are always on the side of Islam so why not?
2. Oppression of women should be ban.
Josh   (04.11.11)
Burqa or not, the middle east contagious thinking that people are property needs to be staved off. That being said, countries should also cover the other end of the spectrum and ban lude dress too. Somewhere in the middle should be where norms are set.
3. Time for Israel to do the same. Much too dangerous nowadays.
Chaim   (04.11.11)
If they want burqas they should go live in their Arabic country of origin.
4. #3 yay! & they can start w/Jewish Ultra-Orthodox!
(04.11.11)
You know the ones who are into covering themselves up and beating their children...like the TaliBan Mom of Beit Shemesh!
5. Excellent!
Ali Z ,   Washington, DC   (04.11.11)
Burqa is not required according to Islam and it's completely out of place in 2011. May all other countries (at least in the west) ban this phenomenon.
6. I disagree with France
Israeli 2   (04.11.11)
They should be allowed to cover their faces...it is better for everyone.
7. Whatever the men are forcing the women
jason white ,   afula, israel   (04.11.11)
to wear, they should be forced to wear the same. It makes no difference if it is a burqa or a wig.
8. For Chaim
Debbie ,   Haifa Israel   (04.11.11)
Today it is the burgas,, tomorrow a kippah.. Chaim as a Jew you should be against this loss of religious freedom. I know I am. If a woman choose (and I mean a woman) she should have the right.
9. Those who want that lifestyle have plenty options
JO   (04.11.11)
There are many Islamic countries that live full Islamic lifestyle. If this is what they want why do they not live in those countries where they will never be in the position to compromise their life and religious lifestyle and have plenty encouragement from their society.
10. I was born an original sinner
Ypip ,   Canada   (04.11.11)
I was borne of original sin
11. The political, ideological, and psychological impact of the
Eran ,   Singapore   (04.11.11)
"The political, ideological, and psychological impact of the veil goes far beyond its appearance… If this weren't the case, why would the Islamists make it their main focus? ... It constitutes a constant call to order by Islamic law." In other words: the Muslim woman in the Slave Rag, no matter what form that rag may take, represents the demand that everyone - not just Muslim women -should submit to Sharia. The woman in the Slave Rag is as powerful and aggressive a symbol of a whole hostile ideology and organisation, as is the strutting thug in the SS uniform, or the Klansman in his hood and robe. I will hope and pray that the French follow through on their burqa ban and enforce it, no matter what.
12. #4 Wives of ultra-orthodox Rabbis do not wear burqas. & #8
Chaim   (04.11.11)
The ones wearing them are BTs, mostly coming from secular violent public schools going from one extreme to the other. In fact, these burqas are not part of the Jewish religion at all. If anything, it's against Jewish religion because it's chukat hagoy, following the dress of goyim. The ultra-orthodox Grand Rabbi of Jerusalem, banned them. #8 There's quite a big difference between a burqa covering your face and a little beany on top of your head. The burqas are extremely dangerous. Who knows how many terrorists could hide behind them?
13. #10 Ypip - me to great isnt it ?
Avi ,   israel   (04.11.11)

tanya ,   tel aviv israel   (04.11.11)
16. no. 11 is correct, but
sweeter than honey ,   far away   (04.11.11)
should inculde the concept of namus (arabic), (nmus in hebrew). honour (roughly translated) and subsequently honour killing, infanticide, forced suicide. subjective modesty of dress is part of this. the concept predates mohammedanism but has not evolved and vanished as in other societies.
17. with Freedom comes Responsiblities, Respect, Reasoning
mary of Bethany ,   singapore   (04.11.11)
With "freedom" comes Responsibilities and Respect and Reasoning! ... else you will be rolling back to Stone-age, early men are very "free" to do what they want. With Feedom given, yet are you bound to be Responsible to make some self-sacrifices for the safety of others. With Freedom given, you are bound to Respect thus self-discipline in obeying the law of your governing leaders. With Freedom, you are bound to Reason exercising self-control, not just doing what you think you deserve. Freedom is beautiful, don't abuse it by putting others in “prison” of fear by your actions.
18. Burka free zone in western Europe
Beary White ,   Norway   (04.11.11)
I agree, burka has NOTHING to do in the western civilized world. It belongs to the old fashion islamic dictator-ruled world, where women has NO VOICE, and have to be hidden, like a pest.!!! In the west we enjoy our lovely free-speaching women.
19. 13-Avi, it is.
Ypip ,   Canada   (04.11.11)
Israel is probably the most wise choice for a destination holiday. I will make arrangements with a friend to visit.

Talula ,   Israel   (04.11.11)
22. Yea for France
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (04.11.11)
At least there is one country that is not afraid to be themselves and let the Arabs and the bleeding heart liberals lump it. Maybe Israel could learn from them???
23. Are men banned from wearing anything they fancy?
sh   (04.11.11)
Why should women be? From the point of view of visibility, what is the difference between a balaclava or a motor-cycle crash helmet and a niqab?
24. the burqa photo is from afghanistan. good for france btw
Sultan ,   Jeddah   (04.11.11)
I'm not against normal hair covering if the woman chooses to wear it and is under no pressure from her family to do so. But covering the face?thats not a way to live in europe. The quran only states to dress modestly around strange men, so why go all the way to the extreme....
25. 21-there is no other song
Ypip ,   Canada   (04.11.11)
26. Chaim #3 & #12
Debbie ,   Haifa Israel   (04.11.11)
You have missed the point, I'm talking about religious freedom, I know full well what orthodox Women wear. I'm a Jew, but still this is something to thing about: "In Germany, the Nazis came for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak for me."
27. It should be banned due to ugliness if nothing else
