31. There are 2 choices:
simple truth ,   ashkelonia   (04.11.11)
1 expensive: US tax payers will pay for Iron Dome shots. So Israel will protect citizens by shooting down rockets. 2 cheap: US tax payers wont pay for Iron Dome shots. So Israel will protect citizens by carpet bombing Gaza followed by leveling Gaza to the ground.
32. where is the catch?
zionist forever   (04.11.11)
The increase in military aid was agreed on with Bush in exchange we are to cease getting virtually any financial aid. Military aid though means made in America not Iron Dome and as there are no free rides and if the US has agreed to fund Iron Dome there must be sting in the tale somewhere like the insistence that Iron Dome will be our solution to rocket attacks. The idea a Cast Lead 2 will be out of the question I imagine if Obama had any input in this. What concessions will we have to make to the palestinians? Will Bibi quietly drop any plans for building in Jerusalem etc?
33. American taxpayer and patriot
Tom ,   Richmond, VA   (04.11.11)
This is the best money spent in our bloated budget. It goes to American workers and develops our technology. All for it.
34. forbidden countries list
alexi   (04.11.11)
iron dome is a huge national asset especially when israel has 10 batteries set up and missile costs drop. do not sell to the following countries who have been backstabbing israel day and night-russia, turkey, arabs, france(which would sell it backdoor to the arabs to quiet their 6 million arab citizens(england for their constant anti israel positions going back to 48), ireland-who would sell it backdoor to the arabs and the east block who russia would force to give them batteries. In one seconid, russian would research the dome to find the hole and then develop countremeasures and sell them to the arabs. Ehud barak cannot be trusted on this file as he already got pressured to sell drone technology to russia for false promises. The irony is that bibi takes pressure better than barak who folds fast.

I have a much better idea. Instead if Israel relying on American taxpayers how about funding for things like Iron Dome come? The US has been giving you guys with around $1billion + in cash a year since Obama became president. As the Iron Dome is designed to stop the rockets your firing how about we take this Iron Dome funding out of the budget allocated. It is because of you guys firing rockets that there is a need for Iron Dome so why don't you pay for it. It does seem unfair the idea of American taxpayers funding a system thats only being used because your people are firing rockets.
36. 30 - US needs iron shield like a hole in the head.
Eitan ,   TA   (04.11.11)
This system is just a cover for transfer of US US funds to Barak and his cronies. Israelis who know, know this system is a joke, no country in the world will buy this thing.

No dear, they want us to develop our shield so they can use it to protect themselves from your brethern in Afghanistan.

MBA ,   Israel   (04.11.11)
Bibi and Sarah living high on the hog (sorry about the adage), Barak wearing his $20,000 + watch, and this is be only a pitance of what is wasted and we have the audacity to "beg" for this and for that. We have a surplus here and the Americans are battling deficits. No pride, no glory. We are heading the wrong way on a one way street. Time for us to stand and be counted, meaning stand alone on our own two feet. About time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
39. resources
Michael Pielet ,   Boca, usa   (04.11.11)
This is a poor allocation of resources. Better investment spend the 205 million on tanks, artillery, and D-9 Caterpiller bulldozers. Use the equipment to invade the strip and push the arabs all the way to Cairo.
40. #36 "this system is a joke"?
Tahl   (04.11.11)
"no country in the world will buy this thing"? Exactly. Rafael got it wrong, all the top brass in the IDF are wrong, two Defense Ministers were wrong, all the foreign experts are wrong, and the system didn't really intercept any rockets - the media made it all up. Eitan from the Tel Aviv bubble knows best! I bet though, that when rockets would start raining on Shenkin and the Ramat Aviv mall, you'd be the first to scream for Iron Dome to protect you as well.
41. #1 Salma
Maurice ,   Montreal   (04.11.11)
You're completely off base. First Israel is doing much better economically than the US. Just check the 2010 economical statistics for both countries. Therefore Israel can not only survive but thrive without the US! Second, if the US is sacrificing all these millions, it is because it wants to equip its own arsenal with a few Iron Domes. You didn't get it did you: This is a first! No one has designed and produced so far military equipment that intercepts short range rockets. Chapeau to Israel!
42. #5; split, No BIG DEAL
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.11.11)
First you are talking about peanuts in terms of money. For instance the last census taken in the USA found about 320 million people here. If you break that down to families of four (80 Million), the $3 Billion dollars the article speaks of for the package (only $205 million dollars for the Iron Dome) comes to roughly 10 cents per day, about $3.00 dollars per month (using the entire $3 Billion dollars as the basis). Hardly a dent in the family budget. By contrast, we import $400 Billion dollars of Oil per year into the USA. That was before the recent price jump of the last couple months. That translates to $5000.00 dollars per year, for a family of Four. Over $400.00 per month, now that does effect our family budget, especially our discretionary spending. Bottom Line: Your looking at the wrong place for money, making a mountain out of was isn't even a molehill. Yet you say nothing about OPEC the main beneficiaries of the Oil Imports, that's the Arabs, not Israel.

of Israel proper which includes Judea and Samaria. People like Salma should return to the deserts of Arabia and tend to their camels. They would be happy, so would Israel and the rest of the civilized world.

The increasingly impoverished American tax payer is not as dumb as Israeli government thinks they are. The American people have awakened and caught the Zionista picking their pockets. Americans never forget such backstabbing.

It looks like you're infected with loyalty disorder too - Thousands upon thousands bright students every year won't continue their education in colleges because their parents can't afford it. $3.5 Bln could buy 350 000 tuitions $10.000 00 each. Money well spend and an investment in future.
48. I think we have to thank the President for his Freudian slip
Pamela Levene ,   Israel   (04.12.11)
Obama will give $205 million dollars to protect us ... Anyone else notice the contradiction? Isn't Obama the one who demands we make more concessions because after all we are the aggressors, not the Palestinians! So what is the Iron Dome for??? YES! Obama acknowledges that Gaza is the aggressor! When will he admit it to the world?
49. #47; split, Well guess we need....

The jobs created by the USA selling weapons to Israel. You know any Aid to Israel comes with strings attached. One of those strings is 75% of the money MUST be spent in the USA. So those kids will go to college, because their parents have the jobs created by Israel spending that money here in the USA. The last time I looked more than 1000 companies in 47 states had received jobs do to Foreign Military Financing (FMF), military aid to Israel. So when you break down the numbers you left that out, didn't you? Instead you just take the aid numbers and apply it all to education. One has nothing to do with the other. But as you can see, I provide concrete numbers on jobs created by FMF to Israel. Here are the spending numbers for 2010: HERE Alaska $81,884.00 Alabama $2,241,523.00 Arizona $1,359,066.57 California $80,782,623.39 Colorado $4,420,057.78 Connecticut $55,398,227.73 Delaware $2,999,956.00 Florida $75,217,283.80 Georgia $22,848,592.34 Idaho $3,952.00 Iowa $88,325.00 Illinois $123,136,963.87 Indiana $596,482.95 Kansas $1,515,384.01 Kentucky $11,742,942.40 Maine $84,943.65 Massachusetts $23,490,440.12 Maryland $14,932,369.99 Michigan $146,415,041.21 Minnesota $6,384,437.05 Missouri $3,783,341.69 Mississippi $170,526.91 North Carolina $8,143,528.02 North Dakota $26,667.86 Nebraska $26,667.86 New Hampshire $727,728.06 New Jersey $44,176,250.96 New York $122,134,683.57 Ohio $56,254,350.76 Oklahoma $2,033,022.52 Oregon $1,011,213.04 Pennsylvania $31,387,255.97 Puerto Rico $33,431,580.00 Rhode Island $2,130,542.00 South Carolina $1,644,744.60 South Dakota $1,929,860.00 Tennessee $2,101,734.17 Texas $43,485,376.89 Utah $2,423,987.00 Virginia $40,811,567.05 Vermont $36,052.00 Washington $876,112.95 Wisconsin $3,322,258.72 CASE CLOSED
50. 49 - 75% of the money MUST be spent in the USA.
split ,   US   (04.12.11)
First you have to extort it from the taxpayer at the time when we're losing our homes and closing fire stations - $3.00 out of $4.00 as a matter of fact, the remaining $1.00 stays in Israel and subsidises their military industrial complex making our products harder to sell. Why don't we just pass the money directly to six-pack Joe instead to Israel and ask him to stay home and take care of his "latchkey" kids - This way our kids are going to spend time with their parents, instewad with WII games, we're going to keep that $1.00 that stays in Israel, our weapons will be more affordable on the market, our aid won't create us an enemies and the Israelis are going to have to learn how to survive without our handouts,...

Why don't you go to a car dealer ask him for money and tell that in return you'll buy few cars from him but only the newest models of Ferraris and that you going to keep 25% of the amount given by him. Also tell him that if your neigbour Ahmed shows up and offers him to buy 20 times more of the same vehicles and even if he pays up front with real money he shall decline and sell him some Fiats. When that is done ask him to borrow some more money and give it to you as a "loan", please make sure that he writes it off on the end of the year just before you ask for another one and a bunch of latest Lombardinis. Good luck !!! ,...

I can see all you do now is think about this, but whatever example you come up with, your wrong! I've completely shredded your argument, so move on. The fact is everybody has things their tax dollars go to, that they don't like. For some it's the Arts, for others it's Abortion or Planned Parenthood. For you split, it's Israel. OK, fine. But your attempt to rally that into a battle cry, to upset others, so they will rally to your side. Sorry, as a wedge issue, it's a failure. Face it and move on.
