2. Typical Palestinian garbage
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (04.13.11)
They plant trees and then call it theirs. Facts on the ground, so to speak. Or else they claim land and trees which aren't theirs. Or they cut the trees down themselves and blame it on Jews.
3. ''palestinians'' often inflict such acts on themselves...
Faruq   (04.13.11)
with the help of foreigners, to frame israel. Now there are some real nutjobs who give 'settlers' a bad name, but guys like this farmer have absolutely no credibility whatsoever.
4. This is an abomination whoever did it.
Rafi ,   US   (04.13.11)
If the govt wanted to make the effort, the inicident could be investigated and facts obtained. Then let the chips fall where they may. In the meantime, for purposes of this article, one would think that even a journalist could see & count how many trees were damaged... This is a vicious & pointless act - and something that is actually prohibitted in the Torah.
5. Someone Is Lying
World Citizen ,   the world   (04.13.11)
The settler claims he owns the trees and has worked them for ten years. If the settler really owned the trees wouldn't it be him who went to the police complaining that the Palestinian had cut down his trees? Instead you have a Palestinian complaining to the police that the settlers did the damage. Would a man who depended on the olive trees to generate his income cut his income source down? Not likely. This sounds more like a lying settler. The settlers have a habit of doing this sort of thing. Is there any decency left in these people? Does the average Israeli living in pre-1967 Israel know how much damage the settlers in the West Bank are doing to the reputation of Israel? You barely have any good standing now. This sort of story will go viral on the internet. I know, I will make a link to this story on several of my "anti-Israel" sites. Hundreds, no legions of others will do the same thing. We are winning the PR War against Israel without firing a shot. The Israelis are shooting themselves for us. Thanks Ynet!
6. Woe to the olive groves of the Holy Land

7. Settlers claim no name, but article and reports have it
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (04.13.11)
The settlers come off as stupid bullies in this article. If Ibrahaim Salah has been working his trees with military escort a few times a year then he has a good case against these settlers who claim not to know who's trees these were. Unfortunately he will need to sue them for the loss of revenue from harvesting these trees for several years until they have commercial quantities again.
8. arabs & settlers want to hurt each other not sing koombaya
zionist forever   (04.13.11)
The arabs and settlers are enemies and enemies do nasty things to each other and sometimes they are pointless things like destroying olive trees out of spite. It doesn't justify is but what do you expect from two people who hate each other?
9. not right but...
michelle ,   israel   (04.13.11)
this is not right and i dont know who did it. but if israelis did do it, it just shows that pa's murder babies and israelis show their frustration by cutting trees.
10. #5; World Cit, Did you read this
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.13.11)
None of the trees are old enough to produce commercial grade products. So nobody, whoever own thiss them, is making any income at point from the trees. See here is the quote from the article: "yet most of them are too young and do not produce commercial quantities of trees" Of course you will post the story, hopefully others who read it are better educated than yourself. They won't lie and say the Arab lost income, because he didn't, the trees are to young, get it. Now as a retirement income sometime down the road, maybe that was his plan. But right now the land is disputed. Except with you, you've already decided the guilt and innocence of this case without any evidence, I'm impressed. What should have gone viral is the Arabs killing babies, not trees being cut down. You priorities...and those of your friends... are distorted and perverted, how sick!

12. Bad article. Who cut the trees? Whose land is it?
Scott ,   USA   (04.13.11)
This article is just he said/he said. We need more real facts.

Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.13.11)
Arab claims to Jewish land are nothing new. Nor are fraudulent claims that "the Jewish settlers did it". Tens of thousands of hectares have been lost due to a campaign of intimidation against Jewish farms, ranches and kibbutzim with Israeli authorities refusing to intervene because they "don't want to stir things up". Appeasement is rampant. So let this farmer provide legal documentation that the land is his, as well as pictures showing the before and after that can confirm his claims. Until then, I'll remain skeptical.

Ovadyah ,   Israel   (04.13.11)
there may be someone lying - bothsides in israel have histories of scewing stories to thier favor. both sides are doing things to shoot themselves in the foot. just like the missle fired at the school bus made hamas and the rest of the palistinians look like child killers. and that did get placed on the internet.... certianly IF settlers are cutting down trees that belong to palistinians there needs to be consequences for the settlers...but it will be hard to find someone without an axe to grind that is neutral to investigate. perhaps those that escort this palistinian could set hidden cameras in place so they can ID the right coprit....
16. Lazy Reporting
Eldad ,   New York, USA   (04.14.11)
Terrible reporting. Why didn't the reporter take the time to look up who owns the land? Instead he writes a headline article made to incite....boosha
17. Olive trees & Sheep, both Contrived stories
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.13.11)
In the case of the sheep, shepherd finally admitted he set the fire himself because he was careless Concerning the Olive Trees, did anyone happen to see the deed that allowed him to plant the trees on the land he planted it on ? Ask him to produce the paperwork, I'll be you dollars to donuts that he can't
18. Mark from Georgia, Did YOU read this?
Nate ,   USA   (04.14.11)
"Salah says that only 60 trees remain in his plot of land at this time, yet most of them are too young and do not produce commercial quantities of trees." These are the ones left AFTER 150 were cut down. If you're going to try and prove a point, at least read the article first. Regardless, I'm not surprised by the Israeli reaction. Justice will prevail, it's only a matter of time.
19. What's wrong with fruit farming?

solomon ,   bklyn   (04.14.11)
My world is upside down. For once I disagree with you and agree with World Citizen. I believe the land is Israels. I also believe that the 'settlers' are cutting the trees as they are trashing cars, etc. #5 has a point, that if the trees belonged to the settlers, they would be the ones complaining. It reminds me of Shlomo HaMelech deciding which woman was the real mother of the baby. There have been too many times that settlers trashed arab homes to pay back what was "done" to them by Israel. They get away with it, so now they want to get away with everything they do. This is not the Judaism I grew up with. I'm afraid people can't see the forest for the trees. I know the kind of responses I'll get. But it doesn't change anything. Shame on us.
21. Look at the picture
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.14.11)
Do you see the cleanness of the cut? You cannot get a clean cut like that unless you are using a chainsaw. Chainsaws make rackets, particularly at night when it is quiet. Pallywood Productions needs a new script writer .... this one's getting old and boring.
22. #19
Sealift67 ,   Northern California   (04.14.11)
Your attempt at humor is lost on anyone with civility. The settlement issue is complex and ultimately will face negotiation and scrutiny, perhaps beyond our lifetimes. To cut fruit bearing trees, by anyone, is sinful. It is like tossing gifts from G-D in the trash, not consistent with Jewish values.
23. #18 - "Justice will prevail" - ohh, please Nate
William ,   Israel   (04.14.11)
When justice does prevail, your ilk usually get upset and claim some conspiracy theory. When Goldstone retracted his support for the report he authored, your ilk claimed he was bribed or threatened. When videos and testimony came out about the true violent nature of "activists" on the Turkish flotilla, your ilk kept repeating your debunked lies, louder and louder to drown it out. When proof emerged about the actual number of civilians killed in Gaza was 70% lower than originally claimed, your ilk refused to accept it and continued to push the lie. When videos and testimony debunked the death of al-Dura and the Jenin Massacre, your ilk was unfazed in its libelous accusations. When some settler activity (not all) was claimed to be violent or destructive, and proven wrong, your ilk continue to paint Israel and ALL settlers with a "racist" and "apartheid" brush. Your ilk apparently can't handle the truth, Nate.
24. #7 - if true, then military should have records on it
William ,   Israel   (04.14.11)
If this farmer, as claimed, had a military escort in the past to harvest these exact trees, then that is sufficient proof to give this "Palestinian" ad hoc ownership until a more in-depth research can be made. However, if the farmer can't produce any proof, even from the military, then he doesn't have a case. But, no matter who is telling the truth, the court of public opinion - sick and diseased as it is - already made their decision to blast Israel and string settlers up by their necks without proof.
25. Cutting trees
Pippye ,   USA   (04.14.11)
Whatever is going on - this is doing nothing to promote a positive world view of Israel. Wake up, people!

So you know this guy personally. SO you know 100% that his guy is a nut job. No SANE PALI will cut down olive trees that belongs to themselves. Olive trees are sacred to them.
29. the Palestinian farmer said. "When we arrived, we saw the..
eporue ,   europe   (04.14.11)
settlers standing on a hill far away and looking at us. When the police saw them, they decided that we cannot work the land, claiming there were insufficient forces to secure us"... ...same happened at an olive harvest support in the west bank, organized by the rabbis for human rights : the IDF came and said, that some settlers (from a settlement in eyesight) called them, threatening with trouble. the IDF said, there were "insufficient forces to secure" the harvest, so it had to be cancelled... so, as soon as a settler threatens, your IDF runs as fast as possible... you dont have anything under control with the settlers anymore, do you ? it is, because they immediately go to the utmost violence against YOU.. ...and how embarrassing is THIS...? and more revealing - what does the non-settler-israeli think and say about THAT ? what you have created something evil in the west bank, its totally out of control, and gets worse by every second... you have to cover-up yourself before the population about this... why dont you, ynet, ocassionally interview the "hill top-youth" ? after listening to "tamar fogel speaks out", i think israel might get a better insight who is out there, and probably be horrified about it...
30. stop whining, it will grow back
ghostq   (04.14.11)
it isn't even the fruit season, there r no olives on the young tree, by the stamp the tree is 2 years old. sheesh how whiny can you be.
