If we were looking for the best solution for regional peace making it would not be based on politics it would be creating a NATO of the Middle East. Israel has the best hardware and know how of fighting wars. The arabs have money to fund it and certainly Egypt and Saudi Arabia would be capable of being major players which I am sure they would find very prestigious. An organization like this is what the region needs and I imagine that the west would probably welcome it. A military organization that binds the region together for mutual benefit would be much more effective solution for creating regional peace. Unfortunately the arabs would not go along with it because they prefer to take, take, take to take from others and give nothing in return. As for Saudi Arabia helping Israel attack Iran, now more than ever they wont get involved. The Saudi royals are terrified they are going to be the next victims of a revolution and they cannot be seen as helping Israel attack Iran.

Don't mistake being stuck in a bad situation vis a vis Iran with being willing to set aside decades/centuries of bone-deep anti-Semitism and behave responsibly. Very few Arab regimes have ever dealt civilly with Israel, much less behaved responsibly.

I absolutely agree with Jake. This is why the Arab governments are so unpopular. Iran's foreign policy is focused on arab masses as opposed to their govts . with the exception of Syria. Israel waited so long to come to a genuine peace with the palistinians that I am afraid time is running out for israel and fast.
