1. First of all, hire the vet!
jason white ,   afula, israel   (04.21.11)
The first people to be hired should be veterans of the I.D.F. The same goes for government loans. We lose too many of our young people who finish the army and university and then leave Israel. Israel owes them the most, because they gave the best years of their lives to defend the state. Not arabs who did not serve and not Jews who did not serve. The same goes for higher education. Give vets a free Bachelors degree, first in line for university admission and a low rate mortgage. They gave to Israel and the others did not.We need them here, they are our future.
2. a model for peace
Eddie ,   london UK   (04.21.11)
this is excellent, and the concept should expand, to the west bank and to the wider Arab world. When Jews and Arabs are free to work together like this, there will be true peace.
3. Amazingly interesting !
Yossef   (04.21.11)
This is the future of the state of israel. It will bring harmony together with security and justice.
4. the real modern Israel is like this
JO   (04.21.11)
with all it 's warts and all- a normal country. Each country has similar problems.
5. #1 you're a fascist
Haredi who works ,   Dearborn, MI, USA   (04.21.11)
What a great idea, NOT. A military dictatorship with a privileged elite warrior class and then a second-tier class of untermenschen, including the disabled and elderly. Where have we seen this type of society before?
6. fascinating article

7. I have Israeli Arab Muslim friends who
(04.22.11)
are proud of being Israeli, fly only El Al nd buy Israel whenever they can. They also report that they are despised by other Arabs when they visit Egypt, Jordan and the Gulf States. They are called "traitors" and "Slaves of Jews", but they know that the real reason is envy. They are envied by the other Arabs for living in Israel and being successful at enyhting they do. Many times they are burglarized in hotels, their cash and jewelery stolen, while the hotel management claims that the guest himself is a liar and he didn't have any cash or jewelery with them. Typical inter-Muslim brotherhood, respect and love. The most envied are Arab contractors who are practically millionaires and live an opulent life, several houses, cars and a lot of money. But not only: the Israeli Arabs engineers and scientists are envied for being able to create in a proactive and supportive society, and yes, for their money too :)
8. Will only make Israel strong and more prosperous
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (04.22.11)
Integrating Israeli-Arabs in the Israeli economy will make Israel stronger, more prosperous and secure. More opportunities need to be created and the numbers of Israeli-Arab entrepreneurs should be dramatically increased

11. #5 Haredi
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.22.11)
It's not Facism, it's a matter of rewarding those that served their country at a risk to their own lives The USA had the G.I. Bill, which allowed the Vet to pursue Higher Education so that he could advance himself in life, plus Medical Care through the Veterans Administration I am a U.S. Veteran, plus an IDF Vet Would you mind telling us where you rendered your services, other than in a Shul ?
12. Rami of Nazareth

15. Looks like we just might get along afterall!

Sorry for getting Macchiavellian but here is the demographic: 80% / 20%. A perfect equation. I've lived in a few countries with similar majority/minority ratios, it works if we only accept the status quo. Both Jews and Arabs. Especially Arabs. The current demographic trend within Israel shows a slight increase in Jewish birthrate and a significant decrease among the Arab Israelis. The final ratio should stabilize at 75-25 in about 20 years. I can live with that. Happy holidays to all!
