Romas. Did he ever give a cent to aid the Jews? Little georgei schwartz was born a Jew, but worked against us in WWII. Did he ever make amends?
2. Extensive experience with Romania: not shocked
EZ ,   US   (04.29.11)
I've helped Romanians defect during the communist regimes rule years ago only to find them not just racist and prejudice but sexist and with a very low mentality, almost disfunction in a mainstream civilized society. Uh, one key that should create immediate understanding of what lies behind the thin veil of personable people Romanians show the world is that theyve almost alway had the highest percentage of their ethnic majority anywhere on planet earth: I.e: they are NOT very tolerant of ANY ethnic minority. It's a gorgeous country but it's history of unstable equity and compassion is clear as a bell. Don't expect a Romanian to "blend" and accept you as a normal human being would if you aren't one of them. This comes from extensive personal and objective experience. This article is NO shock. The only logical misgivings they may harbor is against the Muslims who repeatedly raped and pillaged through Romania throughout history...there it will be hard to change their well as with the gypsies who typically ARE a difficult and unlawful group within Romania (Ive even seen the physical scars from knives they inflicted on the Romanian people: the gypsy population must do more to be better members of society there. (I even had things stolen from me by them during my visits there, which deeply saddened me) as for the other racist and sexist aspects of the Romanian population: it is deplorable.

Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (04.30.11)
I've traveled extensively in Romania. Their bias against Roma is understandable; in addition to apparently never assimilating wherever they go, their reputation for thievery is sadly accurate. Probably, though, the widespread Romanian xenophobia and intolerance of others results from decades of isolation under their hideous dictator, followed by continued poverty and difficulty in shifting to democracy. Eventually, I think they will change for the better. They've had a long, bitter struggle.

Read the post WWII history and you'll find out that like in every other Central and Eastern European country "liberated" by Soviets the Romanian Jews played a leading role in implementing Stalin's style commie system appointed to the politburo and security apparatus (Securitate) by Stalin and getting rid of hundreds of thousands of native patriots and intelligentsia killing them in their jails or by rounding them up, loading on cattle train cars and shipping away to Soviet Gulags to be killed slowly by a hard labor an exhaustion and starvation. Gues where did they did run and found a safe haven after Stalin's death ,...

You are truly one of the most ignorant posters on this site. You demonize Jews and Israelis daily and obviously feel very envious and insecure. Your posts are a living example of the type of people who promote anti-semitism. Perhaps you're a useful idiot in that regard.
15. Strange article proving what???
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (04.30.11)
So, a majority of Romanian youth do not appprove of homosexuals or Gypsies living next door to them. A minority would object to Moslems or Jews. In Israel, however, almost half of Isrrael teens want to strip 'Arabs' of all political rights, something apparently not even contemplated in this poll. So, which group of teens is more tolerant or civilized? I always enjoy the knee-jerk reactions from zionists decrying bigotry unless they themselves are practitioners. Since when is not 'liking' another group of people a crime? Only when the 'not-liked' are Jews? I have yet to read a talkback decrying the more prevalent prejudice against Moslems. Look into the mirror people.
16. To the anonymous #9

Yes, indeed, that is my honest opinion, coming from beautiful, burgeoning Poland. Probably more Jews here than in your apparent Never Never Land.

18. #15 You never speak out against bigotry
Cynthia ,   USA   (05.01.11)
Face it, you're only here to demonize Jews and Israel. That's your knee jerk reaction. And when did you take a poll of "Isrrael" teens? Not liking another group of people becomes a crime when you single them out and harm them. It's called a hate crime in the US.
19. So what?
Avi ,   NYC, US   (05.01.11)
When I studied in elementary school in Israel (mamlachti-dati) we were taught "the best of the gentiles should be killed" (masechet sofrim). So, hate apparently is not only a Romanian issue.
20. Soros-shwartz
michael Pielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (05.01.11)
Georgie the biggest anti-semite, hater of his own people the JEWS. In budapest in 1944 little georgie was collaborating with the nazi's until his father, Tidvar stopped him. Tidvar saved georgie boy during the war. George honors his father by funding ,helping anti -semites like J street, etc. See Tidavar Soros's book, "Masquerade".

We should all be ,   Romanians when   (05.01.11)
that so many bloggers, Jews and non-Jews, are using so abject words when they speak about Romanians. They are very frustrated and saddened people, how else would they write so deplorably. The matter of fact is that most of the bloggers have no idea non soever about Romania and her people. Calling them outright primitive is like calling any other people on planet Earth good for nothing. I was born in Romania and lived there the better part of my adult life. With all daily perils of rampant communism, with quite a few Jew haters around, with all the problems created by the Romanian gypsies (not Roma), with all the immense problems of a near collapsed society, Romania is still a country of ingenious, clever, resolute, good hearted people. Yes,the country has been passing through the latest world economic crisis, but Romania is trying hard to survive it without crying wolf and without asking for European mercy. No bail-out cries so far like other "noble-blooded" European countries ! Just check out the huge numbers of university graduates, scientists, doctors, artists and musicians living both in Romania and elsewhere and you will get some picture of what I mean. Start with Microsoft and go on to Nokia, then Oxford University, Princeton, just to mention a few. All these specialists have been prepared in Romanian universities and many of them are returning home as we speak. Of course, you do not have to believe and accept my lines, but most certainly you DO have to tone down your lies or else you are doomed to become redundantly ridiculous.

Ask the Spaniards what do they think of Romania - the answer is " Thieves, white traffickers, armed robbers of elderly and stealer s of cars and purses. Ask the Danes- the same reply. or the Italians, there also. So why are you worried about antisemitism in Romania-, they are hated by the whole of the European community. France even deported a great number of the Romanians. They certainly deserved Ceuchescu

London guy ,   London   (05.02.11)
I think you'll find that the author of #15 is in fact speaking out against racism - he speaks out against the disgusting racism of a few right-wing rabbis. Or are you suggesting that racism is only racism when directed against Jews and that when some rabbis promote the murder of all Arabs over the age of 13, with obvious justification from their reading of the scriptures, that this is not racism? Personally, I don't think you have given this more than 2 seconds of thoughts and that the comments you made are utter knee-jerk nonsense.
28. Not True
Yarden Mariuma ,   New York New York   (05.02.11)
Since no one is speaking up for Romania here, I'll do it. Despite these results, I, a Jew who emigrated to Romania and lived there for more than 10 years, have never seen any of the anti-Semitism you are talking about. I have always been warmly welcomed into the Romanian families I have visited, and whatever the problems the Romanians have, they are hardly the armpit of europe, theives, murderers, and all the other racist things you all are calling them. I know none of you represent the opinion of the majority of Israelis, who go to Romania all the time - to gamble, do business, vacation, retire - enough to cause Chabad to open a second synagogue in Bucharest to accomodate them. Of course, there are some anti-Semites in Romania, but Romanian society as a whole has no problem with Jews or Judaism - certainly not the rising, educated middle class in the major cities. As opposed to Hungary or Bulgaria, the anti-Semitic parties in Romania get about 5% of the vote and are considered a joke. Someone needed to speak up in favor of Romania despite this article.
29. Romania is almost a third-world country
Israel   (05.02.11)
It's poor, uneducated and carries a stigma that all Romanians are thieves. They don't have a proper education, they don't live a decent life - that breds hate for others.
