3. 'Free Handouts" #1
John Smith ,   UK   (04.19.11)
Just read the newspapers here in the Uk guess which place in the world is no 2 getting the most aid from the EU......The Palestinian Authority....... they receive millions in aid and what have they done with it????You are just jealous because Israel is a beautiful booming country and its not just because of aid.
4. #1 Israel's oil bonanza?
Raphael ,   Netanya   (04.19.11)
Where are your sources about western generosity towards Israel? Empty slogans, to be compared to arab countries' mammoth change reserves obtained from bloated oil prices (115$/barrel sales tag vs 5$ production cost). How do they use their financial power? Building fancy skyscrapers, minarets across the planet, funding terrorists and religious fanatcs instead of developing their economy.

The only hard cash Israel gets is from the USA... not the "rest of the world as you say" moreover every cent of this 3 billion $ has to be spent in the US or else Israel will not get it. We wish they would stop giving us the cash...1) Israel does not need it. 2) most people here believe it causes more harm to us then good and 3) to be fair we think that the US should rather spend this money on themselves - certain states in the US need this money more than us. We have a booming high-tech, bio tech companies. profitable investment firms around the world, and a strong manufacturing & commercial sector. not to mention medical, military and banking industries that are ranked the best in the world. To end this off... we have Gas now and soon Oil... You can hate us all you want... In the real world its Quality not Quantity...

1. Economic grants stopped in FY08, what's left now is military grants, most of which is spent in US. Read the library of Congress 2. European countries like Greece or Portugal consume twice (yes, twice) per capita foreign aid then Israel ever did. That was before the bailouts. That said, growth like this is fishy. Hopefully it is not a real estate bubble, which is the source of the "growth" in many markets.
7. Proof that sticks in the throats of Israel haters (like#1)
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (04.20.11)
Ah well, here we go again with our economy booming, unemployment dropping slightly (although I still think it's way too high). Just more proof that Israel is not isolated, Israel is not a welfare-child of the U.S., and that the "settlements" are not "draining our economy (eat our shorts, J-Street). Israel's GDP is over $210 Billion. Obviously, Esiom (talkbacker #1) can't do basic arithmetic, but it's factually clear that we can do quite well without American aid. The reality is that it's the Americans who need to give us foreign aid, since it's basically used in the American economy to prop up the military-industrial complex. This news is also another thorn in the buttocks of J-Street, who despite all the factual evidence keep the lie alive on their website that settlements have "have drained Israel’s economy." Drained? Eat our shorts, J-Street, and read this article. Israel's economy is alive and robust, and has nothing to do with the "settlements". Welfare? Eat your heart out, Esiom and other propagandists - Israel's economy stands on its own two feet and the U.S. foreign aid has almost no effect on it.

You are right on the target.Unfortunately,Israel has been in a state of war for the past 63 plus years and has needed the US assistance. However, Israel has shared intel with the US.The US relies on Mossad for info about terrorism, radical Islamic movements, weapons proliferation and other ME matters.
