1. The Pals have more approval than Israel
lydia ,   Brisbane   (04.21.11)
When Israel unilaterall declared its Independence
2. Correct
Adam Neira ,   Melb, Australia   (04.21.11)
Secretary of State Hilary Clinton is correct. The divine clock is ticking. All the scenario planning in the world from the greatest strategists is going to lead to the same conclusion. Trust building is the only way forward. There is a divinely mandated plan and vision for the Holy Land that can be enunciated and carried out. Just as much as you can map arms dealing movements around the planet so it is possible to map trust connections. There is a glut of the first commodity and a dearth of the last in the Middle East. Any meeting however is only as good as the people present. Real vision and courage is required right now.
3. No US support for unilateral effort = No state .
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (04.21.11)
It would only be a state "on paper", anyway you slice the cake.
4. #2 Hillary has never been correct
Jay3 ,   Israel   (04.21.11)
Give me just one example
5. Clinton urges immediate dialogue on Middle East
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (04.21.11)
My point of view : Its U.S. politics, U.S. survival and then for the good of the Middle East arena. Sorry, but I really sense that the present American government is desperate for a win (peace in Mideast).
6. She Does Not Understand
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (04.21.11)
It is unclear to me if Mrs. Clinton does not want to understand the realities of the Jewish-Arab conflict or she simply incapable of understanding them. One way or another, the so-called "two-state" solution is not the way to go. It might have worked for India and Pakistan, it might have worked between the Czechs and the Slovaks. But, it cannot work here. The key difference between all the rest of those "two-state" solutions is that each side had relatively large swaths of land and territority where their population could move to. Each side had room to move about and expand within, with all basic resources available to each side. Not so here. Here we are on top of each other, yards away from one another. It is not logical to divide up such a small country in two because neither side will be left with anything substantial. The Jews, particularly, will be contained in a densely populated and crammed in space with no room for expansion, as our population naturally grows. We are already choking in traffic jams and we can't easily access our cities or parks. Giving land to the Arabs will only exasperate the situation and make our lives and travel harsher. Mrs. Clinton. This is not America with vast open spaces available for population expansion and development. We have little space. Don't make us give up what we have unless your intention is, in fact, to suffocate us.
7. Table Round Square Etc No Negotiations
Martin ,   SA   (04.21.11)
When will abass start and bring a letter of intent from Arab League. No paper equals smile and chit chat no agreement. Jordan too scared to get involved due latest Mid-east liberation dilemma. Box on. Bibi arrange to take what is rightly our and perhaps this time give a tithe to these duplicious Arabs who gave themselves the name palestinians they are not evenaccepted by their own that why they beg us 4 a place in the sun they dont deserve. As soon as we agree they will let the bad guys in ie hamas and the like. THEY ARE CARETAKERS FOR BIGGER PLAN IE TO THREATEN AT EVEN CLOSER BORDER LINES> we must not fall for this pressure. US desparately wants some success for their upcoming elections We cant afford a democrat swing. We need the US conservative on our side.
8. The basis for all peace talks to date, and actual peace...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.21.11)
...treaties between the warring parties in the Arab Israeli conflict has been UN Security Council Resolution, 242. 242, designed to resolve the Arab Israeli conflict, passed unanimously at the Security Council and has been accepted by ALL relevant parties to the conflict, including by the PLO!! 242, indeed, calls upon the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to withdraw from territories captured during the defensive June 1967 Six-Day War, but to do so to a "secure and recognized boundaries" - not to the 1949 armistice (Green) line, also dubbed by some 1967 'borders' - to be reached through negotiations by the warring parties. What the PLO/PA attempts to do now, after it has accepted 242 and the Oslo Accords, reached on the basis of 242, is to change the rules in mid stream. Not only is this unacceptable, it tells Jews, within and without Israel, that the PLO/PA is not to be trusted!! Indeed, this is precisely why Israel insists, and rightly so, that the PLO/PA accept Israel's right to be - not only the fact that it is - to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people, and accept a peace treaty as the 'end of the conflict and the end of all future demand', requests the PL/PA refuse categorically to accept, which only strengthen the thought that the ultimate goal of the PLO/PA is not a "Palestinian state", but rather Israel's demise, in stages...!! It is high time rational people in the Middle East, Europe and North America realized the true intent of this move by the PLO/PA, to go over the very Security Council Resolution (242) to which it had agreed, and to spit at the Oslo Accords which it signed... And, if this what the PLO/PA does, there is no reason why Israel should not take its own steps to protect its sovereignty, secure its national interests and guard the very life of its citizens by taking steps of its own...!!
9. Clinton single handedly stopped negotiations & now worries?
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (04.21.11)
Clinton single handedly stopped negotiations when she (not Abbas, and not Obama) made demands about West Bank construction. So for 2 years Abbas has had to stick with this so as to not have Hilary Clinton be more Palestinian than he is. And now Hilary realizes that time is moving on and she wants to start negotiations again?
10. Shut the * up stupid woman
GY ,   Israel   (04.21.11)
You have NO IDEA how to bring peace to this region.
11. clinton......
freedom-lover ,   world/planet earth   (04.21.11)
if clinton/us doesnot support the (unilateral) establishment of a palestinian state, then she also has to finish/to end the us-recognition of "israel", which establishment also happened in a unilateral, premature way in 1948. or she/the us also has to recognize a palestinian state immediately. the better/the best way for her to leave the solution of this problem to the un and to the parties which are involved in this problem.
12. Right now serious dialogue is impossible
zionist forever   (04.21.11)
Abbas is no longer the legitimate president because he was supposed to have held elections two years ago. Any deal done until after the planned November election will be considered void by the opposition. He refused to talk for the past two and half years when Obama was at the peak of his hostility towards Israel and had plenty of time to dedicate to the conflict. Obama is now into campaign season which means less time to dedicate towards the thing and he can't be seen as being to hostile towards Israel at this stage in the game. Terrorists are killing children in their beds and on school makes Israeli politicians less willing to compromise. Latin American countries recognizing an arab state before it exists makes things more complicated because it makes it harder for any palestinian leader to compromise because the palestinian masses wont understand because they will say these countries are willing to recognize all our demands so why are you making concessions It also encourages Abbas to be uncompromising because he thinks if he holds out long enough he can bypass negotiation. The world should be saying with one voice we will not recognize any state which is not the product of negotiation. A state unilaterally created can't survive because the arabs have all these things in theory but as Israel wont allow it to because it wants a say in things. Better for Abbas to do everything possible to build up a position of trust between now and the palestinian election and then try start talking unconditionally once everybody has the legitimacy to do deals.
13. Let's put things in proportion
David M.   (04.21.11)
Let her bring peace to Libya, autonomy to 20 millions Berbers in North Africa, freedom to 20 million stateless Kurds, protection to 15 millions M.E. Christians in peril and harmony among warring factions in Iraq and Lebanon. She should also prevent Iran from developing a nuclear capacity. Plenty to do before tackling the Palestinian problem of much lesser proportions. In the meantime those Arabs who wish to live in free Palestine can move to Jordan.
14. Hilary and her chit chat
April 21   (04.21.11)
It seems to me that, except for having face lifts etc. Hilary isn't fit for much more. Just what has this woman done other than chat empty nonsense?
15. Trust building #2
Moragh   (04.21.11)
What exactly is "trust building"? Does that mean that the West should trust arab states? Golly gosh oh me!
16. An aging woman....
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (04.21.11)
and old demagogue and an antisemite.
17. Urges
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (04.21.11)
For a more lasting and cosmetic effect, I URGE La Clinton to avoid both starchy and greasy foods; staying away from the buffet tables, eschewing desserts rather than her chewing marathons. Through the lips and it's on the hips. Give it a break girlfriend. The trouser part of pantsuits are only meant to go up to 3X. Beyond that you are in fukishima territory.
18. It was in the "best" interest of Billy boy, to
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (04.21.11)
use the expertise of Monica, as she was about a hundred times more clever than now madame Secretary of State... Is Obumma better than Billy...??? lol
19. #6, Hillary knows more than you do.
Michael ,   California, USA   (04.21.11)
She is trying to solve the problem in the Middle East, to bring peace to the region. Unlike you, she is thinking of Israelis and Palestinians, not of Jews and Arabs. Only one out of three Jews in the world today live in Israel, the rest are happy where they are and do not want to immigrate. Israel is for Israelis, not for world Jews, can you not understand this? Seven billion people in the world understand this, including Hillary, and Barrack, and me.
20. #17, You have the wrong woman.
Michael ,   California, USA   (04.21.11)
Address your dietary advise to Sarah B, she needs it badly. In contrast, Hillary is looking great, plus she has the highest approval rate of any politician in Obama's cabinet. Actually, some commentators have advised Hillary to challenge Obama again for the presidency in 2012, but Hillary said she will not do it.
21. Hillary is completely cluless
Marcospa ,   Spain   (04.21.11)
Not one diplomatic achievement in a tough part of the world in her 2 year tenure and none being seen on the horizon either.
22. # 20
Birdi ,   Israel   (04.21.11)
How on earth do you know what Sarah B. looks like ???
23. #20, man how primitive you are...
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (04.22.11)
and by the way...Hillary really does not look great...How do you look...LOL
24. 1st...to #20, eye specs r a must.
RJKennedy ,   Canada   (04.22.11)
Hillary really does not look good. She trys desperately to camoflage herself..but..nothing works. She is what she is & there ain't nothin we can do bout it. O'Hum, life goes on. Obama can press Israel all he wants. He is out of his league. WAY OUT! He has tried siding with the Pals exclusively. Hasn't worked. He thinks he can solve that which he has no skills. NONE! Dealing in such world events. Like..ahhh.. he brings his very basic&limited amount of experience at the community level. How does he now deal(successfully)with something he knows absolutely NOTHING ABOUT. He has surrounded himself with "advisors" who are at his level. They have absolutely NO SKILL at what they are confronted with. So whats to be done? He is out of his league. Better to not try & fix something, that by attempting too, only to create a situation much worse than what we are confronted with now. Israel has lived their entire existence in having to not just live but (SURVIVE) in a tremendously total HOSTILE environment. They are not overtly concerned with what they are dealing with. It's not as if they haven't dealt with people like this before, including the Pals&Clinton&Obada. Do they desire to not have to deal with such individuals & entities? Of course. They would much rather be focussing on improving their infrastructure. Getting their kidnapped son back. Terminating illegal & hostile actions from Gaza. Protecting their citizens from any further, horrendous slaughters as occurred in Itamar, by those same people who manifest such a desire to be viewed as peace loving & oh so gentle neighbors. Perhaps Obama might want to change strategies??? Perhaps he & his sidekick might want to be a little more emphatic in stating the truth & reminding Israels, oh so hostile neighbors(which means all those countries inhabitants which surround her)that Israel is going nowhere, regardless of what such neighbors would like. Israel is here to stay. Get used to it. She has had to deal with situations under which most every other country would buckle. Not so Israel. It almost seems she has something some would refer to as"Devine Oversight." Oh, oh!! Is that possible???
