1. I love how we...
Z ,   Israel   (04.21.11)
Have to accept a Palestinian state, recognize it, and say that they have a right to the West Bank, but the Palestinians have no such precondition as in regards to recognizing the JEWISH state of Israel. It is nonsensical to think that peace can be made when someone else does not recognize the essence of the partner they are making "peace" with.
2. Race To Pali State
Edward ,   Savannah, USA   (04.21.11)
Why does Israel even vote for a PM and government when it has Obama for its leader!!!??? While Netanyahu is before the U.S. Congress destroying what will be left of Israel after he is done giving it away, perhaps the Knesset will do a pre-emptive coup and dump Bibi out of office before his speech, thereby making any of HIS concessions null and void!!!???
3. Which 1/3 of the Palestinians will negotiate?
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (04.21.11)
Obama seems to have missed the fact that Abbas is no longer President of the Palestinians - his term expired before Obama got to the White House. Even then, Abbas represented less than 1/3 of the Palestinians. Those in Gaza do not recognize his authority. Those held in concentration camps by their Arab brothers do not recognize his authority. So to whom should Israel be aiming an attempt to give the Palestinians their own country?
4. terms and misnomers re: 1967 borders
Old 333 ,   Deep Cascadia   (04.21.11)
There is a world of potential within the term 'within'. 'Defined by' might be more reassuring. 'Within' could mean a pinpoint, a postage stamp, or a Palestine, depending on whose whim. Of course, I suppose the language of the proposal will shift over time, just like borders themselves. All very interesting! Thanks for the article. P

6. 1 capitol, 2 states? Can't happen...
Jtown Bum ,   Jerusalem   (04.21.11)
Forget about the Israeli public for just a minute, the Jerusalem Arabs won't allow this to happen. They wan't to stay in "Israeli" teritory, they will never accept PA leadership, plus how exactly will this be in the intrest of Israel's Security? And what about Ma'ale Adumin, Gush Etzion, etc. and how can we recognize a Palestinian state if they refuse to recognize us by anything other than "The Zionist Enemy" or "The occupation"?
7. WHAT "RIGHT OF RETURN"????
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.21.11)
Let's start with the well known FACT, that there is no such "right". It's not written anywhere into International Law, and so, NO such "right" exists! One of the reasons for the two state solution is so the Arabs can move to their new state. One that NEVER existed before, that's a tremendous accomplishment by itself. But all this has been on the table before, and rejected by the Arabs. So this nothing new.
8. Obama peace plan
IKE ,   chicago, usa   (04.21.11)

YHVH/YESHUA BEN DAVID THE MASHIACH/MESSIAH WILL NEVER ACCEPT A PA STATE IN IN HIS LAND ON THE TEMPLE MOUNT AND THE MOUNT OF OLIVES ACCORDING TO HIS WORD IN THE BOOKS OF ZACHARIAH AND REVELATION.THE TWO WITNESSES(RABBIS)WILL APPEAR IN 2012 PASSOVER TO WITNESS AGAINST THE NATIONS(UN) ACCORDING TO THE BOOK OF REVELATION 11:1-3
12. Race to sell out israel
John cone ,   USA   (04.21.11)
Ehud barak bibi and Obama is in a race to sell out israel as the home for the Jewish people no more appeasement and concessions don't sell out israel.
13. Gul, why don't you just shove it. Really.
sick of the blame ,   game   (04.21.11)
"Gul warned that considering the recent turmoil in the Middle East, " 'Israel cannot afford to be perceived as an apartheid island surrounded by an Arab sea of anger and hostility.' " Gul makes an absurd correlation; It is no more Israel's fault than Turkey's fault if Arabs in Bahrain, Yemen, Syria, etc. are sick of their oppressive governments and want change. How much longer does Israel have to take the blame for the Arabs' inability to govern themselves in a fair and reasonable manner? Gul, why don't you just shove it. Really.
14. obama and Jerusalem
avi ,   nyc   (04.21.11)
Gee I wonder if Obama included "next year in Jerusalem " as part of his faux Seder for his treife eating intermarried Jewish aides. Jerusalem is our eternal Capitol belonging to no one else, especially Arab colonists who belong back in Arabia. We are the true Palestinians
15. No Way it will happen
CE ,   SD, CA   (04.21.11)
None of the Arab nations will agree to it and neither will the illegitimate "Palestine" leaders. If the Arabs wanted peace they would have accepted the Arabs that left Israel during the War of Independence instead of keeping them at the refugee camps. Israel willingly and excitedly accepted all the Israeli refugees that were FORCED to leave the Arab nations and they all assimilated into Israel. The Palistinians have their nation, it is called Jordan. Take it, move to another Arab nation, or live peacefully in Israel. The Israeli's have never wanted to convert the Muslims, they just want to live in peace.
16. Arabs have not given one concession since creation 30 years
J1e Zionist ,   Earth   (04.21.11)
Abbas even stated himself that PLO has not given one concession since it was created 30 years ago. I am doubtful that they will provide any physical concessions now. I mean why would they.
17. It won't work
David Thorpe ,   Hermitage, Ar. USA   (04.21.11)
This would be the equivalent of a pack of hungry wolves let loose in a chicken house. Our expert politicians need to wise up, because their about to unleash alot of trouble upon Israel. I would think that the people of Israel would tar & feather any leader who signed on to this deal. Thats what we used to do in America.
18. Who does the pm work for
Ralph levy ,   Usa   (04.21.11)
Who does ehud barak and bibi work for the united states or israel. Barak is nothing more in my opinion a agent of the united states. Bibi must not sell out israel . Apeasement has never worked. It appears bibi is a chamberlain not a churchill or a Kennedy.
19. Bibi will give away the State for trash
RayS ,   USA   (04.21.11)
Trust Obama to do what he can to destroy Israel (as is is doing now to the USA ..)The weakest countries in the world have more self regard than Israelis as they tolerate a government that is passive , timid and without self respect.
20.  Wild goose chase...
Mikha   (04.21.11)
For the proper and just solution can and will only come when the Arabs acknowledge that they have much land in the middle east whereas the Jews have a small geographical area to call a country.Any honest observer will deduce that Arabs are selfish and have no intention of true sharing but strive to wipe the true descendants of the prophets and heirs of the Holy land.Mr.Gul's statements deserve a strong response.Let him tell the world whether there are churches or christians,Jews, hindus or even mixed people in Saudi Arabia or many of the Arab muslim nations? Israel has Africans,Asians, muslims, christians and even Arab muslims in the Knesset. Now is that apartheid? By the way what happened to the Armenians in Turkey some time back?
21. The real peace plan: Pay Arabs to leave.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.21.11)
Any so-called peace plan which involves dividing tiny Israel is a plan for Israel's destruction. A cursory glance at a map is all it takes to prove that. Israel can't possibly survive with an 8 mile (15 minute tank ride) waist and every sane person knows it. Moreover, Judea and Samaria rightfully and legally belong to Israel. Israel must claim them. There is only one real peace plan: Pay Arabs to leave.
22. simpleminded solution
i.zwick ,   nyc   (04.21.11)
We need to see details from Obama then it will be evident that it can't work. Jerusalem cannot be shared by two hostile administrations. Also there is no reason for Israel to give Jerusalem to Palestinian control, they have no legitimate claim. What about Jews living outside of Green line, what happens to them. Should Israel turn over the whole city of Ariel with the University to the Palestinians? The whole thing is silly.
23. OBAMA & Company..
RJK ,   Canada   (04.21.11)
r 2 b looked & acted upon with great caution. This US president is no friend of Israel. Be very, very careful where his pronouncements, along with his sidekick Hillary will take u. He has not in any significant way shown solidarity with Israel. He sits on the fence, waits 4 others to lead, takes measure of their direction, then meanders where it seems least detrimental to his future. This is not action of a leader. A leader leads. A follower is an Obama. He has not shown Israel any sign of wanting the best 4 Her. On the contrary. He has not come out and stated any worthwhile message that he & by association, his party, r for Israel. He reminds me of the person who waits until all the difficult action is undertaken & close to completion then steps forward to claim he was the force behind it & therefore should be given the spoils as his right. Be very, very careful of such persons. They show no desire or action that they have anything but their interests at heart.
24. This is the worst plan ever offered to Israel by anybody
zionist forever   (04.21.11)
Divide Jerusalem, give the arabs all the land they want although we wont grant a right of return. We have had better deals offered before and we have been unable to agree on it but now Obama comes along with the worst one we have seen yet and its supposed to be a revolutionary plan. There is no way this will pass the Knesset. There is also no way it can ever be sold to the palestinian people because the way they see it nobody has the right to give up the right of return. If Abbas agrees to that then the next palestinian president will come from Hamas. Abbas is also unable to do any serious deals as in reality he is no longer president as he was obligated to hold an election two years ago and didn't. Any opposition will just say Abbas is an illegitimate president and has no authority to do deals. The presidential elections don't take place till November which means Obama will have just one year before the US election. If he decides to dedicate his final year to the peace process rather than domestic issues its going to cost him the election.
25. Palestinians giving up right of return ,...
split ,   US   (04.21.11)
It won't fly !!! Not without monetary compensation for stolen property for those who accept it and the right to return for those who don't ,...
26. Pointless exercise: The Pals cannot sign no matter what
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (04.21.11)
Even if Fatah wants to sign a deal, they won't sign for only the west bank. Hamas leaders are clearly on the record: the will "never" sign a peace treaty with Israel. So no matter how much Obama wants it, no matter how much he bribes them, they will not and cannot sign. The problem with the "peace process" is that the world refuses to see the reality. The Palestinians do, of course - that's why they are refusing to negotiate.
27. Bloody extremists
Kashif ,   London   (04.21.11)
#11... LOLOLOLOL. You'r a nutter. Why can't the Europeans who reside in Palestine today just chill man...
28. Palestinian Right of Return is not negotiable
christianpalestinian ,   las vegas   (04.21.11)
No peace will take place if the Palestinian refugees of Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan are ignored. Obama can give speeches for 500 years.
29. Why not the Right of Return...
William ,   Israel   (04.21.11)
to Gaza and Ramallah?
30. It just wont work
Mike ,   Mike   (04.21.11)
The Palestinians dont have leader. Abo mazen cant even control gaza. They never recognize the state of israel while israel should recognize them They wont agree to the security terms of israel They want the "right to returen" after 40 years. it seems that money was not enough They want Jerusalem to be their capital too, no one will share the money of jerusalem with them. we all know that
