31. PROOF POSITIVE
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.22.11)
As I've said many times the Arabs don't want peace. They never negotiate they tell you what they want and never compromise. It's, the my way, or highway approach. So what they want is a new Arab country, one, that never existed before in history, that allows no Jewish people to live there. Basically a racist country that forbids Jewish people. Second they want all so called refugees to be allowed to return to Israel and destroy Israel from a demographic point of view. So Israel becomes a majority Arab state, then use the existing democratic laws to strip the Jewish people of all their rights. So what's the point of declaring another Arab country? It changes nothing since the RoR (which does NOT exist) will be used as an excuse to continue to attack Israel. So if the point of a new Arab country is to have peace, it fails in that regard, therefore isn't necessary. In a way Nabil Shaath helps decide the issue for the world. No country needed, thanks.
32. haha tiki
orit ,   tel aviv   (04.22.11)
tell me one thing Israel has "yielded"?
33. No Mandate just demands B O naive
Martin ,   SA   (04.22.11)
Abbass has no mandate. Since when does a leader of country negotiate. Let the so-called Arab League appoint a person. Abbas has a falked tongue while speaks to this american Muslim counter-part and takes in every word. B O is trying to score political points with his Arab brothers and hopes the American voters will be dragged in and support him for another term. Please America find a reponsiblr leader whom deals with people with approiate credentials ie represents the will of the powers that be. Any concession QAbbass makes in suspect. He is the Arab nice-guy making unwarranted hey with nice words and smiling to a gullable world pulled in by supposed Arab petro money. Concessions sought are unwarranted. Jordan whom should be negotiating fears the power of this group of people and stays out. Two States Jordan(enlarged perhaps) The Holy land Israel. Any other deal is suspect and untenable.
34. Want all loose all
Mikha   (04.22.11)
They still insist on unleashing the "sea of Arab anger'' on Israel in the name of refugees. Will the leaders of Israel accept this while reject releasing drop of that 'angry sea' for Gilad shallit? What will the declaration of a palestinian state by UN do to force peace and sharing of Jerusalem by this two feuding people? There is need for Solomonic justice here.Only one people can live in the Holy land in peace.
35. #14, Terry. Agree. Sick and tired of "peace" recyclers.
tanya ,   tel aviv israel   (04.22.11)
36. Right of return an absolute must
Erudite ,   Australia   (04.22.11)
Interloping Palestinians must absolutely return to Jordan and Syria and leave Judea and Samaria the land of the Jews from time immemorial.Only then there will be peace.
37. Jews Settling On Biblical Lands
superhero ,   Johannesburg RSA   (04.22.11)
The right of Jews to settle on Biblical Lands IS NOT NEGOTIATABLE. Compensation for Jews who were expelled from Arab countries IS NOT NEGOTIABLE. Isareal's security in the face of an enemy that has tried every possible means to destroy her IS NOT NEGOTIABLE.
38. right of return: return to Egypt, Arabia, Iraq, Syria...
(04.22.11)
that's where you came from in the first place and that's where you will have to return. For centuries Jews were told to "go to Palestine" and "go to Jerusalem". Now we're here, back where we belong. Now it's your turn to go back to where you came from - the lands of Arabia.
39. Orit, what world do you live in?
Eyal ,   USA ISRAEL   (04.22.11)
Israel has yielded to verbal attacks from Turkey, without returning the same. Providing food, cars, cement and everything Hamas desires, while shooting rockets into Israel, do you want me to continue? What happened to our country pre-73? We look weak and the world is taking advantage of our weakness. We need to show a bit more toughness, like Lieberman, so the world doesn't say anything they might regret or piss us off.
40. (32) Orit
tiki ,   belgium   (04.22.11)
Think!
41. right of return limited to Palestinian State, never Israel.
JO   (04.22.11)
and this is not negotiable by the Israelis either. This is something Israel will never yield on ever. No state ever will accept as residents, residents of another State with unlimited rights to reside, it is neither just nor fair. Two states require two separate dignities, one both fair to both groups.
42. 32 Orit. Israel yielded Gaza, Amit, some settlements in Jude
Ari ,   Romania-Israel   (04.22.11)
What have the Palestininas yield. Nothing. Israel unfortunately is willing to yield more with direct talks. Palestinians only want the destruction of Israel. First condition for peace is the recognition of the state of Israel as a Jewish State. Second Israel's security. And then we can nergotiate the rest
43. Jehudah, 3 and 4, thanks for your very astute posts.
Hedva Golan   (04.22.11)
44. right of return
Josh ,   NYC   (04.22.11)
"they should have with it all the rights of a sovereign country...this includes the right of return" I think what the Arabs are talking about is a right of return to Israel. "Palestine" probably has no interest or intention of accepting Arab refugees.
45. The Palestinians don't want there own state!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (04.22.11)
They want ours! They view the Palestinian state as being from Metullah to Eilat. The Jordanians to should beware that one day they will claim Jordan as part of Palestine.
46. My Right of Return
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (04.22.11)
I would not want to return or settle in Israel as do most refugees Simply resettlement costs to help set up home in East Palestine Im not sure Abbas use of the word compensation for refugees is wise or legal or practicable when most refugees left of their own free will to escape the war zone or to return 'triumphant' once the fledgeling Israeli State was destroyed In addition this could spark counter claims from Jews from Arab countries who were expelled and ethnically cleansed at that time Abbas should not paint himself into a corner by trumpeting Right of Return which to many refugeees is seen and interpreted as classic Arab double speak or code for dismantling the Jewish State. It simply places expectations beyond limits Rather this should be a simple demand by Abbas to Israel and the world community to meet the costs of resettlement of all displaced Palestinian refugees who want to return back to in a Palestine State
47. To the last drop of blood
Didi ,   jerusalem, Israel   (04.22.11)
Going tru all the talkbacks, I find that most of those who are ready to fight to the last Israeli blood for all of Eretz Israel, live in the safety of other countries.
48. #32 I will help you
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (04.22.11)
I could name a few tens of thousands, but let me tell you one thing: Israel yielded and gave the Arabs Kornet missiles to murder Jewish school children. Do you want more?
49. And what about the right of the Jews ...
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (04.22.11)
violently expelled and robbed of their possessions and business' from all arab/muslim lands. These 'people' want their cake and eat it - they don not live in the real world and they full well that arabs 'returning' to the Land of Israel would destroy it's Jewish IMPORTANT character. Israel enemies are immoral vipers.
50. the right of return non negotiable,Jerusalem non negotiable
(04.22.11)
the peace negotiations non negotiable. typical 'take take take give nothing' mentality.
51. right of return is non-starter
Michael ,   NY NY   (04.22.11)
Create a new country of Palestine and then demand return to Israel? Sounds like a non-starter.
52. there is no logic in the right of return concept
zionist forever   (04.22.11)
If you had been a new born baby in 1948 when their parents left they would be sixty three today. The palestinians though their thinking is a pregnant woman is going to give birth to a refugee with a right to return to the romantic little village their grandparents and great grandparents left sixty three years ago. My grandparents became refugees when they were forced to leave Austria when the Nazis took over. If I turned up one day and told the Austrian government I have a right of return and to move back into my grandparents home I would probably be laughed and and told to get lost. Palestinians though they are different. It doesn't matter if another 100 years passes the palestinians will still be insisting they have a right of return. The crazy thing is there are left wing individuals & activists and even some western governments who have bought into it. ALL refugees in the world are dealt with by the UNHCR which tries to resettle them in a third country as soon as possible. The palestinians though the UN has given them a body which exists only to push their cause ( UNRWA ). In sixty three years UNRWA has made no effort to resettle the palestinians in third countries instead they built refugee camps and left them there and pushed the right of return. If they are serious about ending this conflict the UN should dissolve UNRWA and say with a single voice they do not recognize the concept of right of return. Let the arabs understand that its not just the US & Israel who don't recognize right of return and make the arabs come back down to the real world.
53. Wow, number 3 & 4. Thanks a lot!
Yael, Ottawa, Canada   (04.22.11)
54. what about the jewish right of return
izzie irgun ,   zion   (04.22.11)
hey.. did everyone forget that not too long ago a million jews lived in iran, syria, iraq, jordan and other arab muslim countires. Well they were all either killed and run out of town as part of the arab ethnic cleasning that no one will admit too. So when do we get all of our land back .. but i'll make it easy on the muslms ... lets start by talking about jewish rights in the west bank .. any jew who can prove any ownership of land in the west bank should get it back for free ... All of youwho are sick of hearing about the palestininas right of return while they ignore our rights, need to spreak up ... end the double standard today
55. obama hussein
James LaBron ,   Columbus, USA   (04.22.11)
We as Americans have the right to return obama hussein back to the 3rd World
56. Peace Outline
max ,   washington dc   (04.22.11)
The United States Congress is already on the RECORD that Jerusalem is the "undivided" Capital of Israel. The Palestinian State & Capital (Amman)already exists and any idea to divide Jerusalem is a non-starter for any Peace talks and whoever proposes it will lose the election in 2012.
57. For most refugees its more about money than returning,
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (04.22.11)
Many will accept a one time cash payment to give up refugee status but not all. I think at most 700,000, since that is the number that of original refugees and that would not shift the balance of power from Jewish control. Jews must also have full rights to live in new PA state if they choice to.
58. Jordan is Palestine - Let them go there
Barry ,   UK   (04.22.11)
59. I HOPE THE 'REFUGEES' ARE TAKING NOTE........
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (04.22.11)
.....because what Nabil Shaath is saying is that they can go on living under apartheid conditions in Lebanon...for ever. The PA is insisting on something that it knows it will not get and,as it insists on all its preconditions, will end up getting nothing. Nothing for the ordinary Palestinian Arab, that is.Abbas and his cronies will carry on enriching themselves and living the high life at our expense. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
60. #46 Sammy YOU KNOW WHERE YOU'RE BETER OFF
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (04.22.11)
I don't know if Sammy lives in the same Newcastle as me,but if he does, his presence is no bother to me.He'll be just one of the very many refugees here. The only difference between him and the rest is that they are refugees as we understand the term and he is/was a stateless person. Of course,I don' believe that there is a right of return for descendants of displaced people.A wish doesn't become a right,no matter how hard you wish.I must take issue with Sammy on the second part of his opening sentence: "I would not want to return or settle in Israel as do most refugees". Sammy cannot possibly know what most refugees want.Maybe they want the same as him;the opportunity to settle somewhere as a part of society without discrimination, rather than be subjected to an apartheid existence on the orders of the Arab League. One old habit that Sammy is yet to shake off is the habit of pretending to speak on behalf of everyone else. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
