The fact that the previous president, George W. Bush, who many of the Israeli reigious right consider a big buddy didn't pardon Jonathan Pollard should tell you something. And just what do you mean by "gone?"

Of course Pollard is a Jew and that certainly will not help him. One might ask if an Israeli citizen was caught spying for the USA would Israel free him? Jonathan Pollard knew what he was doing and what he was getting into. He was spying on his OWN country and anyone who does that is a criminal and in some countries might even have been executed for treason! Because he is a Jew doesn't mitigate the sentence he received.

This guy sold to the highest bidder. It was all for a buck. This is one Jew who wants him to rot, at least till he comes clean with the American and Jewish peoples. Let Bernie Madoff take care of him.

He is serving out his sentence in a protected wing of the Butner, North Carolina USA prison facility. He, along with the other Jewish celibrity prisoner (Bernie Madoff), is kept away from the general prison population. They do that to protect him because if the general prison population had access to him for ten minutes, he'd be a dead man. No one, not even convicted murderers, likes a traitor and that is exactly what Pollard is. That he is a hero in Israel tells me all I need to know about Israel. With allies like Israel, the Americains need no enemies.

The "Blind Sheikh", responsible for the WTC bombing, will be released long before Pollard ever gets a chance to breath fresh air We know who the President sides with, it's not the Jews

The Israelis have had every break & form of aid an ally could desire over the decades, and the using of a sneak operative like Pollard leaves a very damn bad taste with the Yanks. That he is regarded as a national hero in Israel ensures he stays in his cage. His fate serves as a daily reminder for the Israelis to watch their step with their one remaining ally and friend.

If Po;;ard had been a Sovit spy he would have probably beenreleased via prisoner swap after about 5 years. In looking at past spies that were caught John Walker was one of the worst.I have read that B-52 bombers were shot down with crewmembers being killed from some of the information supplied to the Communists by Walker. He was bad to the core,but he has a parole hearing scheduled for 2015.That would put him at about 30 years in prison. Mr.Pollard is no angel.There are allegations that he offered to sell information to anyone for a buck.I don't think he should spend much longer in prison because the Justice dept. put a slam dunk on this guy.Unlike Walker he did not recruit his family members and go out and lull other veterens into his work. We always preach in this country that the justice system is not used for revenge.I'm begining to think in Mr.Pollard's case they are seeking revenge.

...at the ignorance displayed in these talkbacks. it is obvious only 1 or 2 people here have any inkling of the facts in this case. i am appalled. Jonathan Pollard should be freed for many reasons, and the others who were and still are complicit in this travesty are the ones who should be jailed. this is pretty upsetting to such misplaced hatred....

Aside from the fact that pollard's sentence is way out of line when compared with spies for other friendly nations, the main reason to free him is that he gave up his constitutional right to a trial for a plea-bargain that the US GOVERNMENT RENEGED ON, for a crime whose maximum sentence today is 10 years. Shame on the USA.
