I wonder if this is a result of the blood libel being spread against the Jews/Israel.
3. "We dont even know if this was a hate crime"

Jews around the world are in denial, they are in denial about what happened in Europe 70 years ago They are in denial about what is happening today If Jews want to prevent another Holocaust they need to buy a weapon and support Israel 100%

9. Calm down.
Observer   (04.26.11)
As one Turkish Jew pointed out it is not yet clear if this was a hate crime. Parts of Beyoglu area can be quite tough with gangs. Do you know how many Muslim graveyards were harmed by those gangs? Unfortunately, graveyards have been used by Kurdish mafia and Eastern European prostitutes, drug dealings, drug users etc. This is already a disgusting and rude act but don't jump on anti-Turkish statements.

Muslim being target under a muslim prime minister by Kurds? This is ridiculus, the fundamentalist goverment of erdogan with gul are responsible of sending their own yought to do that. The Kurds want to end of the turk occupation but they do not mess with that kind of things
13. Muslims celebrating Arab "spring"

The Jew said: We don’t even know if this was a hate crime yet. Perhaps they simply have a love affair in strange places.

When you paint a swastika of a Jewish headstone, it is desecrating the Jewish religion. It is the lowest form of anti-semitism,it is pure disrespect to the Jewish person's memory. In plain English, it stinks. Every single Jewish Turk in Turkey needs to make aliyah now, before they suffer more at the hands of these despicable people. There is nothing left for the Jewish Turks in Turkey.
18. Criminal action of cowards
Anadelfos ,   Athens Greece   (04.27.11)
This is a criminal action done by some coward fanatics, who hope to ensure their place in future paradise. However we must not condemn the turkish goverment for that, because such an action is far beyong her control. I would also add that it brings her in an uncomfort position, thus being the one to apologise. Similar actions happen very often in Greece too, against muslim cemeteries, or ortodox christian ones but we cannot blame the goverment. Unfortunately idiots exist everywhere. In Cyprus some persons dag out the corps of late president Tassos Papadopoulos. and did hide it. Fortunately after some time, the police found out the perpetrators and they will be punished. So lets not take things out of proportion,if we want to maintain the credibility of our comments. Shalom
19. Shameful...just a disgrace
EZ ,   US   (04.27.11)
A person lives their life and passes away. We lay them to 'rest' and hold that person dear to our hearts, visiting their resting place to recall who they were. That's the beauty of a resting place in a nutshell. But to think (and see) that other human beings would desecrate such a place for any reason, gangbanging losers or racist thugs is so deplorable and below the animal kingdom, such an act should only be met with the severest penalties. It's not enough the person is dead? These monsters stoop to this? They should be branded on the forehead to be shunned and allowed no marker on their grave when they die.
20. in Islam burial place isn't important
ghostq   (04.27.11)
unless the person was famous rich shakh, the burial rituals was developed only in the last 100 years, before that they didn't even have tomb stones, something they picked up from chritianity.
21. Observer; As a former Turkish Jew
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (04.27.11)
Let me tell you that the now very small Jewish minority (less than 20 thousand spread mainly between Istanbul and Izmir) is afraid to blame Turkish government or anyone when it comes to these incidents. They are afraid that if the western countries raise their voice to Turkish authorities then the lives of the Turkish Jews will be made a hell. This is why they prefer these incidents not make much noise. They will just take the issue silently so that they can continue their existence in Turkey. The facts are: 1. at least 47 % of the Turkish population support AKP and similar ultra religious groups and they are by nature anti-Semite. 2. The Turkish left (or center left) which is usually well educated and modern also recently became radicalized against Israel (and therefore against Jews) only because this is a way to raise votes.
22. jumping into conclusions
Rachel ,   Tel Aviv,Israel   (04.27.11)
It probably was hate crime, and even if it was not it should be treated as such to prevent any backlash against Jews. However it is true that there have been incidents of cemetery looters (for Gold teeth etc) smashing a few stones to divert the attention. Using that picture though is weird, there are no neo-nazis in Turkey and the cemetery is a French Muslim one...
23. Photo is from France
Rachel ,   Tel Aviv,Israel   (04.27.11)
There were no Nazi signs in the Turkish incident. Just looking at pictures and having declarations for Jews in Turkey is quite rich
