Frank ,   Canada   (04.28.11)
He does not want to negociate with Israel and he claims that he will pursue peace while making a deal with an organization totally against any kind of peace deal. Abu Mazen is a clown.
2. AT LEAST THEIR CLEAR.
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.28.11)
1) Hamas has stated they will not honor any past agreements made by the previous Arab Authorities. 2) Hamas has stated they do not accept Israel right to exist and will not deal with Israel. They just repeated this in the article today HERE: "Top Hamas official Mahmoud al-Zahar said Thursday that his organization does not intend to recognize Israel or conduct any peace talks with it." 3) Abbas has stated (Last week) that the refugee issue is non-negotiable, so there is another stumbling block .from Fatah. Nothing could be said, that is any clearer. The Arabs simply don't want peace, and how could anybody given the above indisputable facts, say otherwise? This has the advantage of NOT being a debate. The Arabs are very open and clear about their intentions, when it comes to Israel? They want: a) land within the borders they insist on, no deals, my way or the highway. b) they want almost 2 million Arabs to return to Israel, My way, or the highway. c) and, they build want a new country next door that forbids Jewish people. My way, or the highway. See Yea, folks, These guys are not serious, do you need to be hit over the head with a hammer, or just hung by the neck until dead, like their Italian friend.
3. yeah, they'll keep pursuing arafat's "peace of the braves"
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (04.28.11)
i.e. - terror.
4. Nu? Call the Palestinian bluff!!!
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (04.28.11)
It's time to demand that the Palestinians return to the negotiating table. Either put up or shut up and kiss their pending UN vote goodbye. All we need is the leadership to take the bull by the horns and do it.... ....but then again, that just ain't gonna happen, is it?
5. I Didn't Know They Ever Pursued Peace
emanon ,   USA   (04.28.11)
Was that when they bombed the pizza shop? Or blew up any number of busses? Or killed the hitchhikers? Or kidnapped Gilad Shalit? Or other similar overtures of peace?
6. Intifada is coming or palestine shall be a state
tea man ,   marjayoun   (04.28.11)
Abbas called the Israeli bluff and showed his card BIBI caught with his pants down Lieberman cannot save him time for the lady whats her name ah! Livni
7. Does Fatah have short-term memory?
Tatiana Weisman ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.28.11)
It was not that long ago that Hamas was throwing Fatah members off of buildings and shooting them at random. Hamas is is simply the worse of these two evils, but at least they are not hiding the true intentions- destruction of Israel, unlike Fatah who plays for the international community. There is no question Israel has major flaws and the situation must change, but just because we are desperate for a resolution does not mean we need as international observers to accept leadership that by most western countries is considered terrorists.
8. We will continue to seek peace
yonatan silverman ,   tek aviv israel   (04.28.11)
LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE
9. Disheartening
Stephen in New York   (04.28.11)
that war seems the only solution.
10. odd this morning they say hamas over Israel
ghostq   (04.28.11)
now later the day they say we will continue with negotiation table, in other words they want it all, they might get nothing, as we seen before.
11. Arab countries UNSTABLE UNRELIABLE
carlos ,   San Diego U.S.A.   (04.28.11)
These moves are another manifestation of that. It will take 2,000 years for them to become real stable countries. No agreement with those countries is worth the paper it is written on. The fact that the so called quartet doesn't understand that is patetic.
12. Abbas doesn't want to alienate the US and EU
Sam ,   Canada   (04.28.11)
Abbas is still counting on Western money and he still wants the West to boycott and sanction Israel so he is paying lip service to peace talks to please them. It remains to be seen just how naive the US and EU are.
13. The Bagman gets his price
Joel ,   WE ARE ALL SDEROT   (04.28.11)
Abbas is so transparent. Of course he was the star pupil at the Yasser Arafat School of Governance. Just imagine all the cash transfers into his Swiss stashes from Iran, Egypt, Turkey, Russia, China, Balochistan and last but not least, his mother's cousin's son's Fatah leader still sends him ten shekels each and every month. Wallow in your slime PALS.
14. And we are supposed to take these clowns for serious!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (04.28.11)
Consider these three facts: 1. Hamas says they will never accept Israel or discuss peace with Israel. 2.Fatah wants to continue peace talks. 3. Fatah and Hamas will form a unified government. Any slightly intelligient mind will right away see that the three facts above are NOT compatible! What a joke! .
15. Why does Israel not...
Callie   (04.28.11)
call the Palestinians bluff! One question: wht are the arabs (Palis etc.) prepred to pay to get what they ""demand""?
16. Abbas saying: We'll keep pursuing PIECEs not peace nor peas
Ari   (04.28.11)
The media has to learn to understand Arab language and not put words in their mouth they never said or meant.
17. Nothing new
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (04.28.11)
The problem is not Abbas, it is Netanyahu. Abbas will pursue peace as he always has, according to the "Saudi Peace Plan" and Arafat's plan of stages: Israeli surrender of as much territory as possible, flooding of Israel with unlimited Arab immigration, and when Israel is sufficiently weakened, destruction.
18. #4 These clowns are more comical than Monty Python !!
John Cleese   (04.28.11)
Too bad it's tragic-comedy.
19. Mr. President, There's ONE Main Problem
Salma ,   Palestine   (04.28.11)
We Palestinians want peace, they the "Israelis" want process of peace, great difference between the two things.
20. The only solution with . . ." Terrorists is "
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, USA   (04.28.11)
To continue construction in Judea and Samaria all the way to Jordan.
21. YES Arafats peace of the grave.
Marcel ,   Florida   (04.28.11)
Abbas want to pursue peace .YES Arafats peace of the grave. Israel has been too stupid to jump off this cattle car to the death camp called peace with everything that has happened since September of 1993. If they refused to wake up in 18 years What makes you think they will wake up now ? God help his stupid children who keep ignoring Him and keep looking to their false god in Washington for peace
22. Big mistake by Abbas!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (04.28.11)
There is no way that the US and EU which consider Hamas as a terrorist organization will approve in September a "Palestinian" state with a government that includes Hamas. Abbas and Fayyad just shot themselves in the feet.
23. #19 You're funny. You believe your own lies. heeheehee
(04.28.11)
24. #19 - your "peace" is incompatible with real peace
William ,   Israel   (04.28.11)
Your "peace" requires the destruction of State of Israel. In other words, your "peace" is "give us everything we want, or else we'll kill you". Not an option. Hence, the reason why Jordan has a peace deal with Israel, and you do not. The new unity terrorist govt among you has made sure the future will hold the same.
25. PEACE OR PIECE.....
(04.28.11)
We all know how anxious the sons of Ishmael are to recapture the territory they stole from the sons of Israel piece by piece. History continues and repeats itself piece by piece. There should be no expectations of peace.
26. #19; Salma, If That Is True Then Why...
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.28.11)
Would Hamas on Thursday make this remark.HERE: "top Hamas official Mahmoud al-Zahar said Thursday that his organization does not intend to recognize Israel or conduct any peace talks with it." So Salma when you state HERE: "We Palestinians want peace, they the "Israelis" want process of peace, great difference between the two things" How do you reconcile the fact that Hamas clearly states your remarks are false? What is it that: " does not intend to recognize Israel or conduct any peace talks with it." That you seem NOT to understand, Salma?
27. It seems that Abbas and Haniyeh
Annette ,   USA   (04.28.11)
decided to play a drama called relatively good cop, very bad cop, but both the cops are evil. It is interesting that the new non- government in Egypt shows its total lack of experience and credibility in helping broker this ridiculous "settlement." I don't think they're going to be playing a mediation role in the future.
28. abbas: they are part of us.
Ricardo ,   USA   (05.01.11)
